Traditional automakers still believe the future of transport hovers around "the car". For 100 years and more, these OEM's have been "making cars" - but the future isn't about cars... its about how we will use transport - and it won't be through owning or buying cars. The future (AI controlled autonomy) will see us buying miles - not the car itself. Whether the vehicle is powered by hydrocarbons, electrons, hydrogen, nuclear fusion, bottled-fart or fermented unicorn urine... won't matter. We won't buy what the car IS (an expensive wallet-draining liability) we will buy what the car DOES (get us and stuff from A to B) for one-tenth the cost of owning the thing.

There is no end in sight for ICE. EVs will be a small player globally for a long time. Oil and gas are not from fossils, they are renewed from geological processes deep underground.

The fatal problem with electric is not only are they ugly and heavy, but the infrastructure is not there for charging. They have horrendous depreciation. Battery replacement costs more than the car cost new. Hydrogen ICE seems to be the better choice.
