Knit-Along: Knitting a Vintage 1963 Baby Carriage Cover
Thank you so much for a clear easy to follow tutorial. The tip about going up a needle size to prevent curling is so helpful as is the loose tension tip. Fabulous teacher
👍🏽Excellent tutorial ~~thanks.
My pleasure!
I have tried using a hook larger than needed but I still can’t find the bumps for the first forward pass. I did a forward pass the best I could but never have the little long stitches needed to start the pattern. Any tips?
I would double check your method for creating the chain row. Sometimes the way you wrap your yarn when you create a chain can cause issues with chain stitches. Make extra sure you are following the tutorial as it is shown and see if that helps.
Have you gone part 3 yet?
In the process of filming it this week! Stay tuned!
@mountaintopyarn Wonderful 🙏. I'm so grateful for this tutorial. I stayed up late watching videos 1 & 2 because it was so meditative . I can't wait to give it a go. Many thanks from the UK👍
This is just what I needed, my goal is to learn to knit socks X thank you
Thank you for these videos. They’re great. The socks are lovely.
I am new at Tunisian Crochet! I must complement you in your great video, the quality of your video is superb! You have a new follower all the way from South Africa! 🥰🧶
I gifted myself an EEW 6.1 this past Summer during Tour De Fleece. I already had the EEW Nano2. Both are so much fun! I hope you get your feet sorted soon. Take care! Edit: My default spin is cobweb to lace weight (singles and 2-plys). Don’t worry, you’ll get there! Pre-draft your fibre, if need be make pencil roving out of it. Over time you’ll expand to perhaps even spinning lace weight out of a braid as is. Have fun! 😊
It's so funny you recommend pre-drafting and forming pencil roving because that is what I did last night and the spin was much more consistent! I went ahead and did the rest of my braid like that and it is sitting in a pile waiting for my next spin session. I'll be posting an update soon to show my progress.
@ - I’ll be looking forward to that! As I’m relatively new to spinning, I was struggling to achieve singles in the right weight for the plied yarns I wanted. So I pawed through my stash of commercial yarns in search of anything similar or identical in weight of what I was aiming for. I cut of a length of that commercial yarn, picked one ply out of it and used it as a reference. It helped me a lot in learning to eyeball my singles. It’s not entirely accurate as crimp and method (worsted vs woolen spin) do make a difference, but it did help enormously. Another thing: steam your fibre if (pre)drafting is not going as you’d like it. The steam helps to alleviate any compacting of the fibre. The difference is amazing! Total game changer. 😊
Plantar fasciitis maybe need orthotics and indoor shoes
I’m afraid you might be right. I’ll look into those.
I'm gifting myself a 6.1 with my tax return!!
Ooohhh, you are going to have so much fun!!!
Thank you 😊
You are most welcome!
Beautifully crafted and spoken story with a message to carry forth and perhaps weave into our own knitting and world. Thank you for this calming, meaningful video.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I love your background music. Could you please share who is playing?
It is royalty free music and I can't remember who it is.
Beautiful. I have multiple shawls that I don’t wear much but this is beautiful and I’ll have to make! ❤
Thank you! I hope you enjoy making it!
Y'all be nice to me. I was half asleep for the beginning portion of this video, but I got the message across. I hope it helped you.
It’s beautiful but being a beginner at this I can find no one show how to make it a blanket size. Won’t it get too squished making it longer? How is it done? They’re all sample with a small swatch but to make a blanket on that short hook? Or even with the cords. I have bought a set with cords but it eoont be enough to hold a 40 in blanket.
Ik im probably missing something simple but I can’t find it anywhere
To make a blanket that is 40 inches, you would need to purchase hooks that have cables long enough to hold all the stitches. Check out the Autumnal Blanket video on my channel to see me using a hook with cables. Then, once you have the proper hook, you will simply cast on as many stitches as you need to make 40 inches. I have information in all my videos on how to make the stitch patterns as big as you want them.
@@mountaintopyarn ohhh. See Ik it had to be simple. I’ll go look. TY. It just wouldn’t click in my head. My thoughts were you had to start a new section somehow. My brain wanted to make it much more difficult
@@mountaintopyarn I subbed
I love it thank u so much
I'm glad you like it
I love it thank u so much
I love this scarf. Could I adapt it to be a throw?
You certainly can!
This is a really a lovely stitch and your demo was excellent. That extra chain made a big difference in the texture and didn’t curl . Love all your demos and the way the camera focuses, spot on , your hands and needle. 👍
I finished it! And it looks beautiful ❤ thank you for the tutorial :) I’m really happy with the results, so much so that I’ll cast on another one tomorrow
Yay!!! I’m so happy you enjoyed the pattern ❤️
27:08 almost there
Your yarns & patterns are beautiful. Hope to see you at Distaff Day in Orlando Jan 2025
Great tutorial! Im ready to try this type of crochet. If I want to make a wider blanket, do I need the cabled hooks? Love love this pattern. Thank you ❤❤❤
The cabled hooks would be much better for bigger pieces. Check out my latest video to see an example of that!
Excellent teaching
Is there a multiple you use for this stitch, I think it would be beautiful as a baby blanket
If no multiple is mentioned, there is no multiple.
Just finishing my first cover - this is by far the best tutorial and pattern out there so I wanted to thank you. I’ve learnt new skills too- Turkish cast on is amazing and has really inspired me to make more bag- shaped items. Also the neat rib which I love- who knew about knitting thru back loop?! Thanks again you rock at knitting Mine turned out inside out by the way/ but I just turned it right side out after cast off (just in case anyone else did tho too!)
❤️
This is so lovely! I used to knit a bit but haven’t picked it up for years. I want to jump back in with this tutorial! However my hot water bottle is larger than this one, I believe it holds 2L. Is there a relatively easy way to adjust so I can increase the size to fit the one I have? Thank you so much for this tutorial.
I would measure the bottle at all the different size points, knit a gauge swatch and calculate how many stitches I need to fit the bottle.
Is there a written pattern for this I love this!!
No. Just this video!
Thank you for explaining how you're holding stitches, feeling as you go along. None of the other tutorials I've watched so far do that. Maybe they've been doing Tunisian crochet for so long that they don't even think about it, but it's essential for newbies like me. That's why I'm here, and that's why I'm subscribing. 😄
Thank you for the lovely comment!
In the written pattern, you do not skip any chains when doing the second 2/rd 2. Is there a reason why in the skip is in the video and not the written pattern? It threw me off and now I'm not sure which one would be better
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🧶 I'm so glad you enjoyed the stitch and noticed the difference the extra chain made-it’s those little details that really elevate a project. 😊 I appreciate your feedback about the camera work, too-it’s important to me that the demos are clear and easy to follow. Your support means a lot! ❤️
So beautiful ❤❤
Thank you!
How many rows did you do for the premie blanket?
I worked rows until it measured the typical size for a preemie blanket which is around 18-30 inches depending on your preference
I bought a crochet kit to make a shawl well to my surprise it’s Tunisian crochet , on no! Well I found your tutorial and you’ve made me excited about learning this method. Thank you so much! Great voice very calming!
Thank you!
Thank you for this great tutorial! I will be making a scarf with merino wool and cashmere. I usually knit, but wanted to try something new and different. I love doing this Tunisian crochet… It's very fun and fast! Thank you again 😊
Thank you for leaving me a comment!
Your video is very well done and I love the stitch ! I am thinking of trying Tunisian crochet and was looking for something that interested me in the craft. This speaks to me!! 😂Thank you
My pleasure!! I’m so glad you found it helpful!
A lot of Unecessary chit chat at the start. I’m nearly at 5 mins and we still haven’t even started a cast on
You’re more than welcome to find another video on this topic. RUclips has many to suit all tastes and preferences.
Thanks for the nice video. I use the stitch when making hats
My pleasure!
Looks like that hot bottle is no longer available. Do you have any other suggestions?
I used a 1000ml hot water bottle. You should be fine if you use one that size.
Can you take it out to wash ?
Yes, absolutely.
Very pretty stitch!
Being new to crochet, especially Tunisian, Being a lever knitter, abd circular needles user, I also tend to pull out a length of yarn
Lovely pattern. Thank you.
Thank you
Beautiful. Needs nothing added
Thank you so much for this video teaching. Especially as you gave the yarn and the hook size ( as opposed to leaving it to us) as a new crocheter in my 70,s. Who had never heard of Tunisian until.a few months ago. This is a big help. I am doing stuff for the Ukraine and this will be good to go along with knitting and granny squares (, I finally cracked them) So again THANK YOU
First, I love your voice! Thank you for teaching me how to purl in Tunisian crochet. You’ve also inspired me to pickup knitting again. Please keep making your tutorials. God Bless You!❤
New subscriber here. Loving this stitch pattern. And I appreciate greatly your explaining the stitch anatomy. Makes a big difference. Thank you. 🦋
My pleasure!
What sized needles do you reccommend for this?
4.00mm
So my sweet, I have decided that your tutorial is the one I will follow for my 1st Tunisian Crocet from, so excited!
Thank you! I am excited too!
