I have both cars BMW G20 Series 3 320i 2021 RWD 2.0 and Honda Civic 1.5 CVT 2018 hatchback, with launch control both of them seem to perform the same, but BMW is faster 0-100 than Honda, by 0.2-0.4 seconds, BMW is way stable at high speeds, while Honda you feel the steering wheel unstable. The engines RPM are the same, if you want a real German sounding car go for 320i, you want a classic japanese sound go for Honda. BMWs driving experience is far superior in terms of sportivity (RWD) and comfort when you want, the infotainment is more intuitive and easy to use and more information also, Honda is more stable on the road and cornering, more rugged even though BMW is more brutal when accelerating, in Honda you feel like a racer, it has that feeling that you drive a faster car than it is, the engine can be heard better in the Honda and it is the sound coming from underneath the hood not engine sound from the stereo system. Now RWD is definitely more fun than FWD, ultimately is it down to preference or if it matters to the driver altogether, for me personally I like RWD more than FWD, I like to drift on wet roads and when snowing, I like FWD also for cornering especially on Honda, is swift and stable. Now on the wheelspin topic, Honda seems to have more wheelspin than BMW on the same road, temps etc. on winter tyres at least both having the same tyres, Honda for 17 inch while BMW for 18 inch rims. Why is this an unfair comparison? DCS on the BMW is enabled as for the Honda is disabled, the temperature is also different, for BMW outside temp of -0.5 degrees and for Honda is 21 degrees this means that are different tyres, we can see Honda having 6215 km while BMWs kms remain unknown. This comes from a Honda fanboy and a Beamer, love my Honda but the BMW is a little faster, when I say this I mean very but still, my time for BMW is 7.1 and Honda 7.5 for 0-100 km, winter tyres on both, -1 degree, same road, same inclination, same starting point, diffence of time of 5 minutes, DCS off on both, sport mode on BMW (and transmission) Honda had only Sport transmission (it doesn't have a sport mode other than that), both had launch control at 2.000 rpm and kickdown.

@abk933 Thank you for the quick reply brother, in terms of tuning the BMW have more potential than Honda, first the engine is bigger 2.0l vs Hondas 1.5l, has better compression. Here comes the tipping point CVT transmission cannot handle more than 225 horsepower while G20 320i BMWs just with stage 1 (chiptuning) reach 280-300 hp from 184 stock. A manual Honda is as customizable as BMW.
@@iloveweed2132 I like to respond to amateurs like you brother, to come back yes I agree with you concerning the limited potential due to the cvt, for mine I put it in stage 2 with lambda 2 removal and installation of downpipe, and then I tried racechip gts, it gave a better curve and more performance in map 7 (oddly), still with downpipe but with suppression of max speed and air intake armaspeed I didn't want to go any further, it's well like that, the bmw, it is in stage 1 ron95 bm3 ots, it's a real cannon, with armaspeed air intake and racechip xlr, but impossible to have 300 hp, it's a b48b20a.
Stage 1 and still slower than a bone stock 330i. My JB+ piggyback 330i ( stage 0 ) does 0-100kmh in 4.2 seconds 😂😂.

This is not a fair comparison. As for the extra money spent on buying the diesel you can buy a 328i or a 325i which would still beat the 320d tuned. Also tunes cost money not a free thing need to have a perfect and healthy engine to tune a engine right. You can slap a turbo kit on the n43 for the extra cost of the diesel n47 and wow now you have a even faster car for the same money as a diesel.

Did you have any common problems with this engine ? I have the same n43 engine 320i m sport but it just has low oil pressure….. so I found out that I needed to replace the oil pump
do you have a problem with the nox?? if not, what engine oil you use, if 5w30 go to 5w40 and the problem will be solved.
I also had this problem. You must change timing chain because its guide brake and block the oil flow. As sooner the better because it can destroy the engine. This is common problem on this engine because the timing chain plastic is not so good. I fix this month ago so I am sure this is the problem. mine had 150 000km when this happened. Hope I helped

@@purplesebastian4177 i owned a 320i e90 bro (the 320i part is really mine i filmed it with my gopro) i currently own a 320i g20 i am telling you this to prove to you that i have sentimental value with this model i I don't like diesel and I don't want to demonstrate that petrol is faster (diesel IS faster) but as explained in other comments you will find, D or DS comes into play only in kickdown, it doesn't add anything when the car is launched (our case) and I know the ZF gearbox very well. otherwise it's the only reliable video I found to make the comparison

yes it is a stock car brother, it is equipped with n43b20, it is an atmospheric engine which cannot be reprogrammed. the cat is also stock, no air intake

For someone like me who is either wanting to get a diesel 320d or a petroleum 320i this video was helpful. I currently have a e220 facelift 2.1 with 174hp and 400nm torque. Getting the petrol 320i will feel so slow. Mind it’s a 2005 model so older engine too. But the uk has things where diesel isn’t allowed and that’s coming very soon I’m my city. My brother has two 325i’s now I been in it torque isn’t there same as my Mercedes’ but the power is and I’m just in two minds of which to get the diesel variant or petrol. This video helped to show they’re not far off each other. Get a 320i remap it and it’ll be fast regardless so all good I know it’s got a inline 4 so does my Mercedes’ but the 325i has more oomph cos it has a bigger engine. Well maybe in the future get a 335i who knows
all the petrol engines of the e90-92-91-93 are naturally aspirated, except for the n54 of the 335i, an engine reprogramming will therefore bring you nothing in terms of power gain, rather orient yourself towards a larger displacement, a 2.5l or 3l will be fine, the n53b30 is great if of course you have a food quality of fuel
@@abk933 so I bought a 330d m sport top spec. My brother must’ve seen one of its older owners and he said it’s been remapped already. Now not sure if the egr/dpf are still in place but it sure doesn’t seem like it when i floor it so much smoke comes out the back when looking out the rear view mirror. Also the top end power is like crazy it just wants to keep going. Down low from a stand still it has a hard time putting the power down, especially in the wet it barely does - my last car a e220d w211 rain or dry still put it power down same width and budget tyres all around never had traction problems - rainy day, at a hill on a red light on a bend, floor it and it just goes - 330d not so much in the rain slightly better in the dry. It’s a lot more harsher so may put thicker profile wheels on around as currently 30 rear is horrible and 40 front are fine but can be thicker.

@@abk933the n46 is a very undertuned engine. Cheaper tunes range from +25hp 15nm gain on the 150hp model to +28hp +22nm on more indiviudal tunes. Very detuned engine. Also for the fact that it needed to be at 150ps and needed good co2 numbers. Engine gets more power from a remap than a n53.
Glad I found this video, was driving behind an E90 today, turns out it had a N43B20A I drive a 320d E46, that petrol engine has some nice natural boost to it, was a fun ride!!

brother it's the dashboard of the g20 (it's my own car) you certainly know the existing digital version on the m, sport, luxury and other packs but it's not the case for mine, go to my other video, the one run against the f30 316i stage 1 and you'll see it's inside the g20.

Bonjour frérot je vais répondre en français puisque vous êtes francophone je pense. En effet nous possédons les deux voitures, j’ai la G20 et mon frère possède la civic, je conduit les deux, ma préférence est purement sentimentale 😁😁, chaque voiture a ses avantages, la g20 est plutôt une berline, stable, moteur magnifique boîte vitesse zf extraordinaire quoi que un peu lente, je n’ai pas l’option sport sur la boîte. La civic par contre est légère, maniable, direction ultra précise, moteur japonais robuste (bielles et vilebrequin forgés) mais souffre de la boîte CVT économique mais non sportive, super consommation et super tenue de route.

I tested my 320i in stock configuration, it gave exactly the same power both in August 2020 and in March 2021, in stage 1 it gained 17NM and 8 hp but also took into account the adaptation of the engine to the adaptation (a car in stage 1 gives more power 3 months after the Reprogramming than when it left the garage) but in stock, it is true that the temperature plays a role but it remains minimal.
320i is only 170hp and not as fast as civic 1.5, there are lots of drag races, honda wins every time

At my place, 320i stage 1 (no mod, just flash tune bootmod3 OTS) is dyno at 27x WHP 😢😢😢 My friend's 2023 Civic FE 1.5 stage 2 with catless downpipe and full exhaust system, cold air intake system, and some other modifications which I couldn't remember just make at 230WHP !!

Ah too bad we never got these in the US. The 4 cyl seems very sweet and rev happy. The 6 cyl E90s were great handling so can only imagine how good it is with less weight up front.
@CyberSquare Games Oh interesting thanks for the info. I guess it all depends on where the 4 cyl is mounted. If the 4 cylinder is mounted as far rearward as possible toward the firewall it should have a small advantage in polar moment no? Just from being shorter even if it's only like 50lbs lighter I would imagine it would feel slightly better. I could be wrong however.

I don think so my friend, maybe a downhill, but no stage 1. I had the same in facelift model 2019, it was slow yes but made 0-100kmh in less than 9 seconds with sp95.

@@TheKingOfRo Personally I tested both modes in "continuous" acceleration like this test and I never got a time difference between the D and DS mode!! Actually the difference in the performance level is only detectable in a case of driving with a repetitive downshifting/upshifting operation, inside a race circuit for example ;)
First the civic has speed limiter on 207 and honda is even faster then bmw honda power of dreams 💪
yes the CIVIC unfortunately has a speed limiter at 207 km / h but only in CVT gearbox, the latter presents weakness at high speed. in manual gearbox version, the RS can reach 240 km / h. that said the limiter can be removed by a preparer but must not be abused.

Hello popcorns are available on all versions of the 320i, you just have to activate the sport mode and put a few light strokes on the accelerator, otherwise the m sport versions are equipped with electronic valve systems by switching to sport plus mode and it gives a more important noise (small valve which one finds apparent at the level of the right exit of the exhaust).

not inconvenient unless you have a heavy foot on the accelerator, there, consumption could well increase by 1 L or two otherwise the car responds better, better times, better acceleration but do not expect much with a 1.2.

hello brother, it is only a reprogramming stage 1 no part touched or changed only the cut out installed on the exhaust line. consumption side it increases a little despite the reprogrammer told me it was going to fall but not the car now consumes 1L more.

yes the difference in feeling exists mainly on the first 3 gear ratios, the car loses its panache when passing to fourth gear. if not for consumption, and contrary to what the preparer told us, it increased by 1L / 100km and even a little more. only problem, skating in first and second gear seen that it is a propulsion without adapted locking.
