Marine biologist, aquarium scientist and aquaculturist. Ever since I got into the hobby in middle school, I was always fascinated by the science behind maintaining live aquatic animals and plants. As a scientists I am interested in how what we know about aquatic husbandry can help us understand more about and protect the worlds aquatic ecosystems. Join me as we bring fish keeping to a science!

It looks fantastic...the color of that rock is beautiful and the rippling water and light is what is so pleasing to the eye.

I want an Octopus tattoo so bad now, lol I have a question for you, i just read your info on here, so you might be able to help. I have a 60-gallon aquarium, and i dont know if i want to do fresh water or salt water. Which one is easier to take care of and won't take a lot of funds to maintain once it's going? There are things i want that are fresh water like the Elephant nose, they look so much like dolphins or the little fish that look like tiny whales (i cant think of the name) or butterfly fish. Then again, if i do salt water, i can get an Octopus, and i love them. I had a 50 gallon aquarium that i had a small eel in and he only ate if i hand feed him so it was hard to find someone to come take care of him if i went on vacation. I ended up giving a friend of mine everything because her son is non verbal autistic fell in love with my set up and i knew how happy it made him so for his bday i gave everything to him, eel in all. Now i have this tank, but im not sure if i wanna do fresh water again. Any info would be greatly appreciated... Sorry its so long
It depends. If you’ve done saltwater before then you at least have some experience. However, in terms of ease of maintenance and costs I would say freshwater is your best bet. There’s a lot of planning however as depending on what you want to keep and what environment they need depends on what fish you can keep and what equipment/supplies you need. If you are US based I have a online store Atlantic Aquariums feel free to email me and I can help further!
Octopuses are for advance saltwater aquarists only so unless you have a enclosure specifically designed for them (has a tight fitting lid you can lock) they are not ideal.
All Cephlapods are smart! They are also like us evolving to live on land like we did! After we kill ourselves they may be the next species to rule the planet!
Hi Phantom!! Hes so graceful ❤️
Top 3, Great White, Tiger, Bull
For me it’s epaulette shark, horned shark, whiptail shark
@@prof.fishtanks I wish I could remember the name correctly, but isn't there one called a "Chain Catshark?" It's the most beautiful by marking hands down. My all time favorite ocean creature is either the Blue Ring octopus or the tiny Blue Dragon sea slug.
@@1Vapersianprincessyes it’s the chain cat shark (Scyliorhinus retifer). Also a beautiful species!
@prof.fishtanks that's what I thought, I love everything about the ocean. When I was younger, I used to want to live in a lighthouse and take care of it for the ships coming in and out. I couldn't imagine life not being able to wake up and not smell the ocean waters. When I was younger, I went to WVa to visit my best friends family. As soon as we came close to home, I could smell the water and woke up fast. That's the smell of home. Sorry so long 😂 Happy 4th of July if you're in the US

It’s ok naps are important!
Interesting event review from a personal perspective . Beautiful red root floaters. 😍
I think that's where it begins for a ot of us...they are fascinating
Great LIVE today
lol, i am NOT good with games....fun listening though
The goal was to learn so now you should know what the scientific names for some of these organisms are!
Pretty good run down for those new to this . The "Real" names are very important escpecially to you all out there who are or are wanting to keep fish that are on the CARES list . Don't be worried about pronouncing them either. Even old timers butcher the names at times lol
Looks like some zoanthus, Montipora cap? Green star polyps (I don't remember the genus on hand) and a sinularia in the back?
I have no scientific knowledge of these...
That’s the point now you’re one step closer! Lol
