The jackal hates it when the journalist judge him for selling guns while being morally enraged. Solution: Don't sell guns.
Is all this true 8:04
Pretty much, the US hasn't fired a single righteous bullet since 45'.
@@anonymousperson6084 what did they do in 45
@@haydaymayday3314 fight the Nazi scum of course
@@haydaymayday3314 So there's this war called World War 2. It started in 1939 with the German invasion of Poland, and ended in 1945 when the Axis powers surrendered.
@@LUR1FAX i’m just trying to see if his philosophy adds up and if it does why also explain what it has to do with World War II
The tapes have dates, so you can always check those. Anyway, this really show how FC2 was the last good Far Cry game. Love how the Jackal starts out with callous, analytical discourses about his own work, then in the later tapes he forgets about all of that and talks about his traumatizing experiences in Black Beach, with the wounded man begging to be mercy killed, the kid stealing boots... it's almost like Reuben is no longer there, and it's no longer an interview, it's just a man therapeutically retelling his experiences, whilst also showing the tinges of remorse he still has.
About the wounded guy, did he sound like he was getting a little choked up to you?
Jackal really was the guy that was just done with it all. He saw the evils of the world and he fell into it, and yet he still hated it. He scoffed at the hypocrisy and he knew truth from lies. God bless, he was the hero everyone will sell as the villain... but that's just how heroes are these days

14 years on and what Jackal says still rings true today.
15 years on and it still does.
16 years on and it surely will for a long time
I have to respect the brilliance of this era's Ubisoft, in that they made a pretty normal ex-serviceman American the biggest antagonist of the game region.
Agree 2008 was Ubisoft peak at games Prince of Persia, rainbow six Vegas 2, far cry 2 and many more etc
I all ways like jackal s voice
The Jackal is one of the most compelling characters I've ever encountered.
Sad . when it comes to fc villains people either talk about vass or pegan min but no one talks about the me most realistic villain the Jackal. His speech makes sense. The drone is the oppressor the ak 47 is the equaliser. This line sends shivers to my spine.
"The glutten-free sorghum bread is the oppressor" 😂
@@its_saval I mean eat it and tell me it's not
You can't talk about Jackal without getting banned on most social media
@@mezmezzy1870 wait, what?
The Jackal and Hoyt need more attention. They are crazy but know a lot of truth. So are they insane or are we?
I don't know if it'd be chronological, but I feel tempted to re-arrange the order some of these. I'd love to start it with all the bits of the Jackal just talking about his job as an arms dealer, then go into the bit about how Reuben could do it, and use that to transition into the more philosophical rantings the Jackal gets into, and then get into the things he seen where his voice starts to sound like its getting emotional, and then end it the same as this video probably EDIT: Alright, took like a month, but I did it: ruclips.net/video/FtPQT7FwU00/видео.html
Thanks, your arrangement is actually pretty good, I loved the little pauses you added to the conversations.
@@sylonogwailou Thanks for giving it a watch, yea I wanted the speech to sound more interesting so I needed to add some pauses and play around with it a little

such unique character. not really a villain.
Thanks for compiling these! Glad to see others love this hidden gem of a character IMO
@@yagotevez-prog I don't think that breaks story so much as it shows the conflict in his ideology and how it, at it's core doesn't make sense, this is his inner conflict as a character
I find the tapes so authentic. To be honest Vas and the antagonist of Far Cry 4 didn't really convince me. But there is so much authenticity of the Jackal. That is why I think far cry 2 is the most adult entry of the genry and the most faithful to something which is worth discovering and getting in touch to. He is not this psychotic or out of a line evil dude. He is a man born in an oppressive system whcib don't know any other method of live than war. This is why I love far cry 2 and hope that ubisoft will return to this adult gamestyle.
Vas was great, but Pagan Min was weak. I'd love to see a Jackal style character played by Michael Mando
@@TheJudoJoker pagan was basically breeding ajay to take over control of the country, as he saw him as a son in law basically. Intentionally made his life difficult but never really tried to hurt him anytime he was captured
That's because the Jackal and what he said is quite relatable to actual people and events. the Iraq and Afghanistan War is a good example. In the end, it's shown that he's not the actual villain of FC2 but the two warring factions in that country.
@@codypk5111 Totally agreed. In fact, I see Pagan Min as a necessary evil in Kyrat since both factions of the resistance is not being seen as able to offer a better future for the country.
😲
I like how he dismisses any discussion of the moral component of the sort of profession he’s engaged in as madness, then later tries to justify his actions by saying he empowers the peoples of 3rd world nations. It’s a nice, subtle nod to the fact that he still struggles with some level of guilt over what he has wrought upon his fellow men, despite his best efforts to remain indifferent. Good writing went into this, I can tell.
Coverings. Fjrst
I don't think he empathetic at all, when he talks about "empowering people" it has nothing to do with morality or him being the "good guy"; he is talking from a third person perspective. Fact is: he shows up with a truck full of guns and everyone comes out to play. The Jackal comes and goes, one place or the next it doesn't matter to him its just business. There the ones acting empowered.
@Potato King It's quite similar to the arms race between the US and USSR during the cold war. Both sides are arming themselves with evermore destructive weapons that would assure their mutual destruction (read MAD theory). However instead of both sides going to war as expected by everyone in the 50s and 60s, both sides are in detente exactly because they were afraid of their mutual destruction. Hence you could say an arms race assures peace. Ironic isn't it?
As he says it one of the tapes, "But let's never forget: It's a display. It's a posture, like a lion's roar or a gorilla thumping at his chest. If you lose yourself in the display, if you succumb to the horror, then you become the monster. You become reduced. Not more than a man, but less," This applies to his excuses for the arms trading as well. Part of him knows that he does care about whats going on but he needs to keep the display up to keep himself safe. I dont doubt he was being honest about picking sides once and it leading to more death and threatening his own life. He keeps the display just enough for us as outsiders but even then, we can see that it slides from time to time. He is aware of what he can become.
This game took a deep look at problems around the world and made a great game. The mind of a man like the Jackal is always interesting to take a look into. I remember I first played Far Cry 2 in 2010 when I was 12 years old. Back then I had no idea how deep the game was supposed to be. I was just there for the amazing graphics and fun gunplay. Playing it again when I turned 20 last year while I was stationed in South Korea brought a whole new meaning to the game, especially after I enlisted in the military
Me too i though it was black and white , hell i thought at first that the UFLL are the good guys and the APR are the bad guys and the jackal is a psyco criminal . then i saw that the mercenary are the same , people with gun for hire they are there for the money , UFLL and APR are no difference they are greedy and blood thirst , the jackal is just a guy who took advantage of the situation and now is trying to end this shit fast by arming both side too the teeth , the idea was " sooner or later they will find a way and kill each other it was a sport for them so why not make it fast "
@David Hopkinson no , at the last mission you find the jackal at a prison near the boarder (he let you find him) , your only purpose now is to kill him , why not you have been there for a long time and the only why to get out is to kill the SOB and finish the mission , but no , you find out that he is helping thousand of civilian evacuation via the border (50.000 people i think ) .the one thing that make sense is to team up with him and help them get out , maybe the only one good thing you will do in this shithole country and maybe kill him after what hell . the plan was one of you make a suicide plan after the civilian evacuate , one of you has to blow up a mountain and block the route for the hundred of mercenary coming for them ( if the civilian are out the war is over for them and they are out of job a bad thing for them) , the other has to bribe the coast guard of the foreign country to open the boarder and let people in , but chance are that they will kill you after or the authority will arest you after all you are a mercenary with no paper work , either way it is the only way to save lives.
Whoa that's neat, tell us more about your new perspective as a military man
@@ChessQuestionMark I just got out of the Army 2 months ago after 4 years of active duty. But yeah Far Cry 2 teaches you that there are no heroes in this game. Your character is just as corrupt as everyone else in both Leboa-Sako and Bowa-Seko. It's a depressingly bleak storyline that I was addicted to. Far Cry 2 is truly a unique game.
@@23t22 all of the far cry games kind of leave you with the ‘was I actually the good guy?’ Feeling
8:04 This bizarre logic is everywhere in our world, that if a country (who are we kidding, America) can benefit from a military action, that automatically makes that action evil, which is like saying if a bounty hunter is going after a criminal for the cash prize, you should side with the criminal. Just switch "bread" with "oil." It sounds like something the Jackal is telling himself in his final throws of denial, before he realizes he wasted his life and should make a real difference in the world. I wonder if the developers were really that self-aware.
Of course , the game is based on Apocalypse Now (1978) and of course the book Heart of Darkness (it is also the name of the last level ) , same idea the horror of mankind !
This might just be my own interpretation of the Jackal, and hopefully I'm not misunderstanding what you're saying, but I don't think it's accurate to say that the Jackal was saying "so-and-so's actions are evil.". Rather, I think what he's saying is that you can't simply call it "justice." Given the character's Nietzschen inspirations and the rest of the tapes, the Jackal seems far more nihilistic than moralistic. While he certainly isn't impartial, I don't think he's one to label anyone as "evil." So I think his criticism isn't that using superior military technology to blow up a dictator for gain in a 3rd world country with no money or infrastructure is morally bad, but that labeling the action as "justice" (or trying to moralize it in general) is "crazy." As I think he would put it, it's simply the Lion exerting its force over something weaker. To be clear, these are not my views, but rather what I think the Jackal meant.
and why would the world side with the bounty hunter? if the usa decides to profit off some conflict on the other side of the globe, off people who had no quarrel with the americans, why is usa the "good guy" here? was vietnam the bad guy when americans decided they needed to spread their democracy? was chechnya the bad the guy when it got invaded by russia for their own political agenda? why is your "criminal" a criminal in the first place?
So he recorded the last one on his own without Ruben?
That what i always thought I'm gonna cross reference the dates
There’s also the gat’s hot squad skin for the hammerhead
Nice video, but I think you should have put a full 2-second delay for each tape to let the listener know it's a different tape. also at 4:28 the tape is cut off prematurely
You deserve far more views and likes, You worked on it very well , I think this is the right order too , I am glad to see others are still interested in Far Cry 2 and old games , those are the real masterpieces
Hell we are in a sort of Renaissance of Far Cry 2 modding right now. Even I'm making a mod that's supposed to make the game more fun and enjoyable.
whats cool is they confirmed that seol is johnny's birthplace
Whos brilliant idea was it to make gat look like magnum PI
How did you unlock All gat skins??
You Have to explore the city and open up chests it's only way to get any skins for anything including vehicles.
Or if you have enough money, then go to relic (the ark) find the un-cursed monkey paw and it will be a 90% chance to get every skins
