Keeping IBC totes algae free with this cheap cover!
We use a lot of IBC totes on our farm because many of our water sources are portable. During the warmer months, it is hard to keep algae off the sides of the tanks. If you don’t use this cover. Look how easy it is to install and it was only $25.

Penny (Saratoga Sass) Go Pro Cross Country Training Level
Просмотров 394 месяца назад
This was Penny's first attempt at training level. She was super! I didn't want to attempt the level until I was sure she was super confident. If you can't tell, I am very proud of her throughout the course as she overcomes several fences she used to have problems with.

This is Penny's first training level stadium. We were aiming for being in balance and control throughout the course and she did great. Although she got a little over confident at a few fences, I would rather that than her being a chicken. This mare has a heart of gold and I have loved developing her. She is a ferrari in a 16 Hand Frame for sure!
Rotational Grazing with Sport horses- Moving horses is easy
Просмотров 134 месяца назад
With rotational grazing, moving them to a new paddock is very easy. Here we have made a new front line (behind me). Then we let them through their old front line, and that line will be their new back line. A tip for when you move them is to move earlier in the day so that they can get settled before it gets dark. Also, ensure that all of your lines are “hot” so that they always respect the fences.

This horse is so ready to move up to training but we have waited until his ride ability has improved. He’s there! We rode around super easy peasy on a look ring French link snaffle and he was a super star. As you can see- this horse has an amazing gallop- he’s super confident to the jumps, and has the best skill set of any horse I’ve ridden. He’s ready to gooooooooooo

    Love seeing your success! I'm just starting to intensively rotationally graze my herd and am curious... Do you leave your manure? Spread it or harrow it? How long do you keep them off an area before grazing it again? Are you tossing out any seeds? If yes, what do you like to use? Thanks so much!

    • @eremosfarm3790
      @eremosfarm3790 10 месяцев назад

      That’s amazing! Good for you! Yes we absolutely leave our manure. That is what feeds the soil bacteria and continues to build your top soil. Try to reduce commercial wormers as they kill dung beetles. We bring chickens behind our cows and horses and THEY spread the manure and eat the fly larvae! With regard to grazing, it all depends on the type of grass (warm or cool Season) , whether it’s growing quickly or slowly. For example, fescue can grow back quickly if soil conditions temps are above 45 but below 70. You when when fescue is ready again when a point on the tip of the grass as regrown. You want to regraze just before the plant has maxed out it’s growth cycle to keep the growing cycle continuing. I try to wait a minimum of 21 days before rotating back through because parasites can live outside the body for only 18-19 days. By waiting 21 days, you are stopping the chain of transmission. We are about to start putting out winter rye to add forage for our animals in the winter. Also, we are going to do high stock density with round bales to really put a lot of carbon/nitrogen in the soil. Once they eat down a few round bales in one spot we will broadcast clover seed over the area. We don’t plant really anything else. The idea is that rotational grazing over time and improved soil conditions will allow all the seeds to express themselves. Good luck to you!! We wish you the best
