Can you swap a 22 Barrel to a 25 cal? on an Avenger

Love that crony! I have one of the old fashioned ones, I think it was $300! I just ordered the Flash in 22 today it will be my sixth pcp and just want it to have laying around since all my others are to expensive. I got it on the refurb deal for 129! I have a jet 1 but it is just to short of a barrel. I can't just leave my Jts Airacuda Max 30 laying around cuz I'm afraid it might get a scratch, it is so fucking perfect!!!! and my AVA pup in 25 was my first so it can't get scratched either. My dam AEA SF standard is just to expensive and fun to just leave by the campfire! So I'm hoping this will be my casual fun plinker, rodent control unit. thanks for taking the time to do this.

yep..25gr slugs are my go to in my Walther Reign .22( its only doing around 775fps) and ive done 2 rabbits at over 250 yards( Yes, over 250yards).So the Air Venturi Avenger at what ive seen at over 100fps faster( some cases well beyond that) should do a wee bit better at 250+ yards..i know ill get alot of flak about doing things with such anemic numbers, but i do tend to stretch the capabilities of said weapons...at 283 yards, off the bench and strapped in, with decades of shooting experience and ballistics study, with experimentation, these pcp air rifles can do lots..just wait til i try the .30 Gauntlet SL( i already know im going for extreme ranges with it)

Nice testing Mr Wes. I used to use those ZAN slugz years ago when they first came out. They were ok. Then I learned the best thing to do is make ur own. Hand swaged slugz are the best. I quit fooling with all that b cuz I don't have time anymore and prices are way too crazy. It used to be a lot of fun years ago lol I don't even sort my pellets anymore! Good job buddy. Should try some 15 grains in er and some 16 gr pells. I bet the fps and fpe go up. Your hammer spring must be set low on it which is ok. All mine shoot over 1000 fps even the 25 cal. You can turn up the hammer spring w a U Tube tutorial on how to do it. These little rifles are very underrated in power and accuracy. They are over looked by the air gun community b cuz of all the new hype stuff. Hatsan will hang in there with the best budget rifels and some medium price stuff. I love mine. Wouldnt trade em for a new Avenger!

I am at minute 2, wouldn’t be a good idea when you start shooting at a target to say what yardage it is. 10 vs 50 yards kinda makes a difference. Maybe you say it later on but it’s better to say it when you start shooting.

Not too bad Wes. I gave you the recipe for success with these Avengers. It can be harmonics stuff. Any time you change an airgun for power shooting and with slugz, you have to lock everything down first. Harmonics grommets dampeners kit and maybe 2 barrel bands and Danas barrel tuner kits. Sometimes an airgun doesnt like a suppressor, crazy but true. Are you sorting and weighing your ammo? You gotta do that too. Just be cuz the ammo says 21 or 25 grains doesnt mean it is. You need digital scales and weigh each piece of projectile. Also these budget guns tend to barrel whip alot with heavy ammo and tuned up power stuff. Is why you lock down the barrel inside the shroud and put a couple or few bands on after that. Check all these things off first. If not its a problem inside the action itself. Not all air guns take to tuning up power stuff. I quit fooling with it a few years ago and never have anymore those headsches. All my rifelz are sub MOA laser beams with pellets! If you want high end sometimes its better to spend high end. I have some super high end rifelz if i want that. I have some with stug barrelz on them. Like BRK stuff and FX , Scout Epoch, AEA and so on. I just like pellets tho is all i need. That high power slug shooting stuff is for long range competition anyways. You can shoot 100 yards easy with a nice pellet shooter! Less noise for game and pests to pick up too.

Is it possible that without the forend to protect it, the bottle is putting enough pressure on the barrel to cause flyers? I have the same gun, but it is a totally stock Tactical tube gun. I have the regulator set at the third notch past the 2. (2600psI?) and the HS 4.25 turns. I’m getting 914-920fps with the 21 grain Javelins. If you don’t mind me asking, what are the settings on your gun to get the higher velocity?

Weird that on the flyers... the speed was consistent but they still dropped so badly. First, I'd clean the barrel. Then, I'd hand sort some really good slugs with no defects, weigh them to pick equal weights, and try again. If you still have such bad flyers, I'd do it with more types to see if they have random flyers also. If it seems to happen just with the javelins then its just them. If it keeps happening across the board, I would trear it down and clean it really well, check seals, and see what happens.
