[A#/Bb] ii — vi — IV — I
This one is my favorite because it sounds like water. There's something about water that behaves like sound, so sounds of water are meta. The purpose of these soundscapes are for rehearsal or relaxation. It's nice to have them posted, though I doubt any one will open them. It'll be extremely accessible for me to have them able to be streamed.

This is a rotary sound. Uniquely, this is the most spacious of the spaces. The omitted third within the chord quality means that not only do you not know where you are, but the song doesn't know where it is either.

Almost entirely minor. Drones, resonance sweeps, and cut off plucks come into play here. All for the purpose of learning how to finally play in Ab without getting bored. There are various textures throughout these keys but the main purpose is to provide an atmosphere to explore tonal qualities, this track takes away the bells and whistles and returns to the basics.

They say that tinnitus and diving go hand in hand. At this point, we're deep enough where that has to be integrated into the atmosphere. There is a tension and release present in this space every alternating minute. That transition probably affects your attack around that time. At least, it should.

I think this is where we were trying to get. Enharmonic equivalents let you practice two scales at the same time. That means you'll be twice as efficient, get twice the practice hours in, and get better faster.

The irony is that you can't breathe under water, unless you can. That usually requires some sort of apparatus. This persistent eel-esque rhythmic pluck is supposed to be annoying more than enjoyable. I like to pay attention to how often it gets in the way of what the hand wants to play.

The second closest thing that you find to a melody in this Empty Space. The sparkles create a space within a space. E is unique here because of I V pattern, meaning it could also be the IV I of B. Those sparkles help keep you in E and remind you of what light looks like coming through the surface of the water when you look up.

This vocal soundscape provides resonating sounds to contrast any natural instrument. "A" stands for Angel, which explains the voice samples that I used. The intention behind both the minor and major duo was to lose the tonal sense between the sixth and the root.

Relax and float because we aren't even that deep yet. I removed the bass qualities from the foreground because sometimes the bassist gets sick and we need to prepare for that. This woodwind texture is supposed to be easy listening and easy playing, apologies if it isn't either. Take it slow, and don't accidentally play C natural unless you intentionally play the accidental.

The chimes could be a calm wind or a storm warning. I like to think of C and G as opposing forces more than relatives. If one is a calm wave, the other is the storm's. In this texture, I experimented with a drone and contrasted it with the warmth of the full-bodied chord.

Only the white keys, or if you're a guitarist like me, disregard that entirely and just hit what sounds good. This first sequence is simple and spacious, allowing for freedom within an already well-known scale. Elements of electronic ambience are added for texture and tension.

This isn't a standard backing track. I made this in 2018 during my second year of college as a sort of improvisational study. This collection consists of 11 tracks in different keys and transitions popular chord structures. The chords are sustained to create an Empty Space to practice scales and note tension.
