Well, I've seen stuff light up pretty hard and fast from an ignition source, so don't miss that one but yes, Safety Dinks are robbing the lifeblood of our sport in the name of innatainable perfect safety.
Drilled a directional hole from an other location and fluded the gas producing fromation around the origional hole, The work done at the origional well, removing all rig equipment was done to cap the well. But iT was found that the casting was worn badly and plan had to be changed.
How exactly did they put it out? Pumping water into the hole? It needs a narration so regular people know wtf is happening. I understood spaying water so the workers could get in and hook chains to the wreckage to pull the wreckage away. Then it showed a bunch of machines, I assume were pumps with hoses running toward the oil rig next to the fire. They revved up the machines and the fire went out. How?
You are very observant. First, they cleared the blowout debris so they could access the well for killing it. How 'killing it' works is fluids weigh more than gas (the gas that is coming out of the well in this case). Heavier fluids weigh more than lighter fluids, everything has a weight, and the weight accumulates per height, which is known in the industry as Hydrostatic Pressure. So what they do, if possible, is to pump heavy fluid down the hole to overcome the downhole pressure, thus killing the well. They can increase the kill weight by weight of fluid, height of column (of fluid) and pressure.
As a Slickliner up here in Canada, I started for a pretty good company, the owner had a ton of experience and we were very busy. Later on I hired on with another company whos owners were former OTIS hands. Their training was a level above, both in the downhole tools/well control side, and also in how to run the business. They were great to work for. Competition Wireline..
Blowout prevention (BOP)
The cooling water we used for the fire monitors , came from localy drilled wells. this water had a very strong egg smell . After a couple of weeks working in/under this water we had to take day's off to recover. Our vision was giving problems. (this was 1970 H&S was not high on the priority list)
Misschien belangstelling?

I keep waiting for John Wayne.
Pdo safety laws at that time 😁smoking was allowed I guess... But now if they even find a cigarette in your pocket your out of pdo... Forever
Ah yes, back when they still let you smoke around oil rigs. Damn safety priests have taken the fun out of EVERYTHING.

Evetualy by injecting hugh volume water in the formation. Causing a bridge down hole ( formation collaps) This did happen twice.
Lex Kolster I
awesome retro vid. BTW, whats the process where they cap the flame?
Amazing video, thanks.
