    Thank you for this illuminating perspective. I think I’ll get a copy of Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, take a look at what he has to say, since I only focused on Zeno in my video. Can’t say I agree with your points, but I do appreciate you taking the time to lay them out. Also, the remark against the manosphere was me referencing a video on stoicism made by Aperture (linked in my video description), but as I agree with Aperture’s critique, I suppose you could credit me with that view, too.

    AI is simply a code… it can’t truly identify you. They can make it seem like they can identify you but at the end of the day they have a program controlling their every action. In a weird way we do too. But the only difference is we have DNA structures that control our outcomes in ways we don’t realize and depending on how move in life your DNA gets altered.

    Thanks for that. I’m a boomer. My opinion is we don’t need to have “necessary” conversations about everyone’s culture and concerns. When I entered the work force in the late 80s in my mid twenties no one at work gave a sh!t about my culture or concerns nor should they have. My opinion was that I was hired to do a job so just do the job. Why should I burden other employees with my personal issues, cultural or otherwise. Everyone has some sort of personal baggage. Deal with it…. All this entitlement comes from this absurd notion of “equality”. I think as boomers we understood that not everyone is “equal”. We understood that life isn’t fair and some people have it better than others. In high school there was one valedictorian not eight. The word gifted athlete meant just that. They were gifted and you weren’t. Trophies and awards only went to the people who earned them. Most of us did not win awards or trophies but that was ok, there was also an understanding that you could mitigate shortcomings with hard work and creative thought. There was also an understanding that it’s tough out there and not everyone is going to make it big and that is ok too.

Poor people sitting at home getting paid stuffing their faces all the while fiddling around on their phone and getting drunk.How about going to war fighting for your life against an adversary that don’t surrender and flys kamakze planes into your ships, for 4 years and the only communication you have with home are hand written letters. Now cry me a river.

    As a millennial, I was thrown into work with zero mentoring and very high expectations. This was during the great recession and having a good paying job was a huge deal for recent grads. It was sink or swim and I had to learn how to deal with older generations and their expectations quite quickly. It wasn't about them meeting me where I came in, but rather me adjusting myself to the current set of standards and culture set by my older and more experienced colleagues. I remember doing a intergenerational workshop in 2007, and out of 15 people there were only 2 millennials. We were told we were the participation trophy generation and were essentially spoken down to the entire time. I've been there. Things have gotten better with softer management approaches, but you learn pretty quickly that older generations have a very different set of values and expectations in the workplace and you need to follow the rules as set by your boss, be they a millennial, boomer or gen x. Things do change with time, but it's never overnight. Hand holding has never been a thing. Mentoring yes, but that's you arriving at the table with a pre-existing set of skills and professional behaviors. You need to earn your place at the table first and that can only come with time and experience.

    My daughter graduated high school in 2023. I noticed a big change during and after Covid. Deadlines for school work became optional. Tests could be retaken. The Covid lockdowns hit these young people at a critical time in their development. My own daughter went to Spring Break of her 9th grade year and they didn't return to school for a year. For a lot of them, it changed them forever. I hired a Gen Z intern this summer. It was awful. I had to show her how to do the same tasks all summer long. It was like, 'that's how you do April, now do May" <crickets>. She was punctual but showed up tired, not rested and ready to work. She yawned all day long while consuming 1,000 calorie iced coffee and energy drinks. The rest of the world isn't nocturnal like some college students. I couldn't give her any feedback because she's too sensitive. It got to the point I just wanted it to be over. I wasn't going to fire her (my neighbor) but by week 5 of 10 I was counting down the days. The first red flag, that I ignored, her Mother put out a call on Facebook looking for a summer internship for her in May of that year. The young lady had little motivation. The only thing she really got excited about was doing her own payroll. This experience was so terrible I will be reluctant to hire anyone ever again. I'll just fly solo and when the time comes for me to quit I'll either sell my book of business or just fire all of my clients.

  • @camgere
    @camgere 26 дней назад

    Very articulate. I love it when people have reasons for their opinions, not just "that's best for ME". I don't think young people understand that you get paid to work. You do not get paid to be fulfilled, do interesting things, or wield power for no reason. Steel isn't going to turn itself into a hammerhead by itself. Your employers are not your parents who provide you with everything just for asking. I'm surprised that Gen Z aren't joining unions by the million. Everyone is equal, no one is better or worse, just more seniority. Unions protect and vigorously advocate for more, more, more. Of course, union leaders are the real beneficiaries. Management wants to promote the best workers, so there is a choice there.

    I can agree to a lot of the points made. Black men are not treated the same in corporate America, I learned that the hard way lol. Capital does seem to find its way back to the top of the pyramid as well. I’m not sure how individuals can fix the core issue, I’m not well versed in that knowledge. I do think 99%+ is systematic and law driven, how our money magically funnels back to the top wealthy classes. The hard thing most artists can’t grasp, including myself at the time, is that the music industry was an arm of the film industry. Early film industry was propped up by big advertiser spending. That ad money trickled down to composers for films, including artist license agreements. Once film was democratized and social media became the new ‘stage’, the money moved differently. Now we have Meta, Google, Tik Tok taking the ad spend that people used to feed into Hollywood and sometimes even into content creators for UGC (user generated content). And like mentioned, some studios would hike recording rates and tack on unnecessary fees, causing a false sense of supply and demand. I guess they figured, as long as the record label has a check, they’ll take their cut. But I think the miscommunication with artists is the understanding that film was an arm of advertisement and music was an arm of film. So when the advertisers move, so does the capital. There’s a lot of nuance to both film and music with music having more direct to consumer revenue but even still, the big money came from business expansion through advertisements. Music was the medium to market a message to the masses.

    What is your point. Sounds like a bunch of excuses. “If your successful it’s because your privileged or taking from the people” maybe some people don’t allow circumstances to become a mental barrier to what they want. Maybe some of us see these hard times as challenges and an opportunity to grow and evolve our approach in business and mind. I’m sorry if I’m missing your point, you’re well spoken but scattered. You seem to have Marxist or communist ideology, just judging off of this brief introduction to your content. This little community your trying to organize to “creat opportunity”. What opportunities? The opportunity to be broke together? Cause clearly you despise not just capitalism but commerce, everyone has “borrowed” money, that’s the point of currency, to cycle and flow. Y’all gonna mix each others music for free, trade beats, so you can make music for the art, until somebody throws one of you a giant bag of money and your realise no one would rather WILLINGLY live in a cardboard box?
