What are the rules to this event ? Could i enter a buggy based car that is not a Meyers Manx ? it uses a berrin buggy frame , a72 drivetrain , but a steel body for the street Md roads ?

I totally understand why they closed. Look, this is a dying hobby. Look at the demographics of people who are in this hobby. Over weight, diabetic, NO money and when they do have money, the men especially blame the wife for not letting them buy the things they want because most of these guys are essentially sissies for "men". They never learned to take charge of the household, they do what they are told and now old age has crept up on them and they are afraid of doing anything to stir the pot. Then you get the ones who come to the hamfest. Now those are a special type that come in with ONE thing in mind: Go and offer stupid low ball offers like pennies on the dollar for the crap. Then when the seller tells them to go pound sand, they give a sob story of how they are either a vet who served in some 100 year old war or how they have been a ham since 1776. One thing these smelly, sweat pants or cargo pants wearing slobs hate the most is when they are told if an item doesn't sell within means of the asking price, it's going to the electronic recycling for shredding. Look, most ham radio shops won't come out and tell you how sick they are of hearing the sob stories of how the person is on a "fixed income" or how the YL won't let them spend anything over $75.00 on anything but a crappy Baofeng. 90% of the time these same jackals will offer some SAP at a hamfest who is asking $35.00 for a radio and offer him $5.00. Then, they huff and puff back out to their Dodge Caravan that is in DIRE need of shocks/springs from years of abuse for the 400 pound over weight McDonalds eating slob that will run down too HRO and slam down an AMEX card for a new HF rig that costs $8,000 just so he can get on the 40 meter net and tell all his other over weight slob, McDonald's loving friends about the weather, that A-Hole at the hamfest that wouldn't take his $5.00 offer and about his upcoming heart doctor appointment. Plan to see more of these closures. Gen Z and the Millennials don't want to get into the hobby and I don't blame them. As a GenX'er, I can vouch for them because this hobby is not only dying, but it's over priced and expensive and quite frankly, what younger person want to have pull stupid old fart conversations out of HF static crashes just to hear about their stupid health problems? It's not worth the $8,000 and the younger crowd has since moved onto other hobbies. The Boomer generation has spent loads of time telling these younger crowds they are dumb and don't know anything. All the while the Boomers blaming the younger crowd for being lazy and not wanting to work all the while the same smelly Boomer is still working a job at age 75 just so his leech wife who never worked a day in her life gets to have health insurance. It's a revolving door. The truth hurts but this is a reality. 73's!

I didn't know there was a GMRS repeater on Palomar! I volunteer at the fire lookout a few days a month, and can see Birch Hill from the tower. I will have to try it out! I just got my GMRS license a few months ago. WRWV206

Very sad. I’m a relatively new ham (3 years) and have bought a lot of my equipment from HRO. I’ve been helped many times when I had questions about which product to buy and what works with what. They’ve never steered me the wrong way. Would love to see businesses like that thrive.

during my college years I would visit the san diego store frequently. Ron was really cool, so was Tom. I bought a Yaesu 990 there, and an Icom 706 during Icom day, I won a jacket too. It was fun just to look around and figure out what was next to buy.
