Borders Railway Revisted 2019

This video takes a look back at the railway that runs from Edinburgh to Tweedbank. After reopening in September 2015 the line has had its highs and lows from the Queen in a steam train to cancellation after cancellation of services. But here on a beautiful summers day the railway looks rich in colour and it’s trains smoother than ever with the Class 170s taking over primary running from the les...

Просмотров 3438 лет назад
Year two of Steam on the Borders Railway has come to an end. Eight weeks of morning and evening services has been hauled by 46100 Royal Scot which has been a sight to see in and around the local countryside. It hasn't been the most popular service which may have brought doubt to a return next year. Thanks for Watching. I created this video with the RUclips Video Editor (ruclips.net/user/editor)

Royal Scot Steam at Bowland and Torwoodlee (August 14th)
Просмотров 2528 лет назад
The 'Royal Scot' Locomotive returned for its second run on the Borders Railway today. Seen at Bow Bridge and Bowland Junction on the morning service, followed by the evening service at Torwoodlee. Both services looked mostly empty, as tickets are still widely available for the remaining 12 excursions. I created this video with the RUclips Video Editor (ruclips.net/user/editor)

Thanks for the ride, I still haven't been on it! Used to ride it in the old days quite a lot.
Thank you. nice cab view
Cool
Although this video is clearly from a time when the Class 334 was already in service, the traction motor sounds are not those of a modern AC-motor set. They sound very much like a PEP-family set, most likely the Class 314, which was also in service with Scotrail at the time.
When are they going to get on and rebuild it back to Carlisle?
Nothing personal but it would be nice to know which stations we are passing as well.
Hypnotic 👍
This video is an old one
Queen St has the 1997? National Express ScotRail branding but it can't be very far into that operation.
Yes 1997. This journey was on 8. September 1997.
Mid 1990s? Before the Anniesland spur rebuilt anyway.
This journey was on the 8. September 1997.

Hope they put this route in train sim 3 😂 Great video
Or train sim 4

So glad i went on this new service the day before the queen. It should go all the way to Carlisle. Shame they were so short sighted to not bother to design the new bridges to allow dual lines in the future. Could no one in UK make a curved metal bridge anymore? No one had the skill to make and build a curved spaceous bridge for the same money as the square boring concrete ones they went with? And why so noisy in the cab? Can't they make a modern cab quiet for the driver?? Or insulate the cab they have to use?? You'd have to wear earplugs for H&S in that noise.
Beautiful. Consider to go 4k.
Is this train sim 2022?
Fantastic video I've allwsys wanted to see the class 334 drivers eye vue on these EMUS I SHOULD DO A CAB RIDE ON A CLASS 318 OR 320 TO PARTICK

Youve started after Reading heading east?
thanks for the upload always wanted to see this and what the drivers going into Queen Street low level
Single track with one platform stations? I initially thought this must a line between major Australian cities.
Change in the weather since Saturday!
Have to say, Waverley station's a lot smaller than I imagined it to be.
The train started from a platform that was away from the main part of the station. Its a big station
Great vid and train ride mate, enjoyed that, great scenery. Hoping to take the train soon myself so this has “whet my appetite” so to speak. Shame the section past Tweedbank to Carlisle is still closed though, will it be extended to Hawick?
Can you do one with the whifflet line ?
Thanks for this a train route now on my bucket list. I think the Borders is an underrated part of Scotland, judging by the scenery from the train.
Can we see exterior next time?
7:07
Thank you for your video, perhaps a little too long..Good weather until the arrival near the final destination..I knew only a little part of the SCOTLAND. I would like to see again the itineray, with real time, between Glasgow and Kyle of Locash.
like the video very much .Take care.
Is this a reopened railway line? If so it’s magnificent 😉👍🏻
Yes, it is. It used to be a double track throughout.
Is it worth the money?
Definitely, the sounds are top quality and it has a very smooth driving experience
Best train
how can you do that on the xbox?
You mean run on a different route? Just access the scenario planner and turn on “off the rails”
@@borderstrains7985 ok
I used to take this line to go to Edinburgh till Helensburgh with my be loved auntie who died three years ago back,...very sad and so much memories.
Some depressing slow speed limits at present. These will have to increase significantly when the line opens though to Carlisle, and as much double track as possible. Eventually, the entire Edinburgh to Carlisle will need to be double track to achieve maximum efficiency. Roll on Tweedbank to Carlisle soon.
I have no idea why most videos from this line (side or cab view) is taking on big zoom, it lacks the feel of speed - unusual for so local lines. Anyway thanks for this possibility of travel between Scottish Borders hills & greetings from south Poland!
v.nice
Fantastic video! I can't believe some people are moaning about the resolution. It's clear from the stock, liveries and the banter between the drivers about X-Factor 2009, that it's not a recent video. But there was so much to like; great conversation between the drivers. I'm guessing one was in late training, as the other gent was advising him on AWS magnet distances, speeds, etc. Fascinating and thorough look at the Suburban Glasgow North Clyde Line in particular (I'm not as familiar with the Edinburgh end). Cheers!
Must have been filmed not long after the line opened. Another clue is the B &M store at Airdrie retail park. That used to be a Curry's store.
The 🍿
It is too low in quality to watch - to y standards. I do not want to insult anyone but out there are other videos that are filmed on a higher quality standard. So - it is up to me to choose. Go fully 4k: with camera (GoPro is affordable and it works well - beside that you should not overheat it), memory card that will follow the data flow from camera and - always clean the window from inside and outside, however silly this might sound. Film on sunny days only and when driving away from the sun. This is what it takes to film a quality video. Than it is up to you: either you do each step - or you do not. I wish you all the best. PS: I am fully aware that you are a train driver at first place. Stay well, drive safe.
In the late '70s I would take the bus between Gala and Edinburgh along the A7, gazing wistfully out of the window at the track bed of the Waverley Line whenever it came into view.
Great stuff no adverts the others do , 👍
I 'Liked' then 'Unliked' this one. It claims to be 1280p HD but barely scrapes 480p! Window is dirty and camera is unfocussed and low definition. A great pity as this is an interesting trip.
Aww bless. Entitled wee generation.
Poor you, the uploader didn't clean the train before he got on.
Familiar with this drive from about 1:12 onwards. Springburn to Helensburgh Upper, including the Marfyhill Line, is literally the first route I'm releasing content for on my Train Simulator play. Beautifully done route in the game. Really hoping the path the rest of the way to Edinburgh eventually gets added so I can drive this entire journey.
Wow! Nice ride too.
Haven't invested in TSW2 yet - at least it seems like you can actually hear the engines and passing trains in this new version! TSW is terrible for sounds and it puts me off using it!
Thank you for a very interesting video. Best wishes from Andre and Lola Engelbrecht in South Africa
Last time I was on that line it was class 303 blue trains from Queens St to Anniesland for school!
Why did the train not call at Stow?
Off-peak service
What do the drivers do during stops? it sounds as though they are unravelling sheets of canvas or heavy paper! and why two drivers?
One could be route learning, looking through a route map , the driver is probably filling out a simplifier with a delay.
I cycled the old route between Drumgelloch and Armadale back in the mid 1990's. Some fantastic scenery.
Same with me as well MMOIMC, I cycled it regularly from Drumgelloch to Bathgate, since the railway line opened the cycle path is adjacent to the line
I also used to cycle in the 90's🚴 on that route before the railway was built.
Ridden parts of this but not all. I would have done the section beyond Dalmuir but for a litany of errors, none of which are attributable to me.....
