    not sure what style this is but you need to move your hand up on the tsuka and try not to over swing so much if you wanna connect for those double cuts bring the saya to your hand, draw out and pull the saya back same time would help you as well as correcting the footing despite room for refinement, looks like it cut well ~

      becarful chinese whetstones are not trustable in matter of grit most of the time beyond 10k many chinese brand on amazon are not giving the real grit beyond 8k grit you need japanese or american wetstones to be sure about the grit I bought 12k 16k and 30k grit shapton wetstones made in japan to be sure about the microns of each stone the grit value is not the same for us and japan, and chinese not give it clearly with approximative grit value so the real unit is microns to be sure of grit of each stone for a sharp edge to move to very very sharp to razor : - 3k/8k/12k/16k/30k (japanese) grit is enough

    I tried it once and had a wicked sharp Katana then, but it felt weird, a bit like the edge of broken glass and not like a razor. The edge went dull in no time even due to sheathing. What did I do wrong? Yes, I probably didn't have good alignment and consistent pressure, but that doesn't quite explain it...

    • @RoninHood
      @RoninHood 26 дней назад

      thanks for your comment sharpening process is quite difficult on this video the major ideas are presented at that time it was my first way and result for saving a broken edge now after 4 years i have all the stones from 100 grit to 30000 grit and i have correct muscle memory so able to sharpen to very very sharp with 3000-8000 grit a dull edge in 30 mn with 6 swords this year or to razor sharp with 3000-8000-12000-16000-30000 grit why i sharpen now often my shinken because i cut bamboo and plastic bottle very often and that reduce fast sharpeness on the edges i will publish a new edition on how to sharpen a katana with all the stones up than 8000grit for razor sharp and for members CRAFT my special technic very precise for muscle memory for sharpening in 30 mn any katana to razor sharp in any case craft ask dedication and time to have serious result and i understand not fun when not having great result, the key is practice and dedication and time it is always working at the end for sheating if your edge touch the saya when you draw that is incorrect the saya shouldn’t touch the edge when you draw best regards

    Bonjour Ronin Hood super vidéos tant pour les infos que la technique. Je me suis procuré un katana Ookaze sur le site que tu indiques. Bien reçu colis livré a temp service et suivie de livraison au top de la part du site. Quand je lai reçu effectivement il ya du jeu avec la saya. Par contre pour la lame cote coupe j'ai l'impression qu'elle n'est pas aiguiser en mode rasoir. Tranchant mais je ressens pas de sensations particulières pendant la coupe . Tu as plus d'info a ce niveau ?

    • @RoninHood
      @RoninHood 28 дней назад

      Bonjour cher ronin, merci pour votre commentaire et pour votre appréciation des vidéos de la chaine YT ronin hood. Votre expérience de la chaine et de votre achat est très intéressante, je dois bientôt récupérer un second ookaze (le premier a été cassé sur de la coupe sur bambou, après 3 séances 6 éclats sur la lame, ne surtout pas couper de bambou avec), j'essairai de faire un épisode suite à votre expérience car le cheminement est assez direct avec mes reviews/conseils sur ce sabre qui sur 4 ans s'est révélé le plus proche de ceux avec lesquels j'ai pratiqué au Japon C2 (centré au milieu de la lame). Effectivement le jeu dans la saya est important mais on peu le corriger (voir tutos refaire koiguchi sur 4 côtés) pour le tranchant de mémoire il n'était pas rasoir mais très coupant (suffisant pour la coupe). Petite question êtes-vous pratiquant de battodo ou iaido dans un dojo/club si oui depuis combien d'années ? Quelles types de cibles/marque avez-vous coupé avec (john lee ou mugen dachi (TATAMI MAT) ou PLAYA MAT ou autre) Je vais bientôt finir d'éditer/filmer un tuto sur la chaine MEMBRES CRAFT RH avec un tuto pour apprendre à aiguiser une lame en RAZOR sharp en 45' (avec les référence matériel à moindre coût) Bien cdlmt

    I was surprised Sensei Blademan B had to be shown how to perform a proper sidekick. But one thing is for sure, his batto and tameshigiri is so crisp and clean!

    • @RoninHood
      @RoninHood Месяц назад

      Sensei blademan b has extremely high level of batto/tameshigiri in my opinion, each cut is very clean and impressive, however we decided to make an exchange of skills : what I could propose is kicks from karate where I have a long time practice/experience (17 years/4th dan) His kicks & flying kicks are great, I just propose here technicity of yoko geri from traditional karate. It is very very very difficult to have great level in striking art and batto art because transmission chain (skeleton/muscle/coordination/posture) are very difficult for cutting art and striking art. My observation : we don't use muscle the same way in both arts so very difficult for karateka to cut and I think it is difficult for some swordsmen to have a dry kime on their tsuki or geri (kicks) It just ask to practice on both arts with dedication. This is just my opinion and observation on my difficulties on battodo since 4-5 years and seeing some swordmen on punching bag or striking art beeing too relax in my opinion on their technics. Sensei blademan b has already knowledges from taekwondo if I m correct his cuts are incredible and kicks really good.

      Yes indeed, I'm not crazy to cut a tree with a sword (because I like nature and trees) but it was an interesting experimentation (evaluation of the skills and of the steel/sword) : with same technicity (posture/slice motion/edge alinement/angle/power) - 1060 steel react the same with wood than with bamboo - same quantity of wood (diameter) than bamboo it work the same - it is possible with correct skills to cut 5-8 cm diameter wood tree as bamboo (even tree has more material density inside instead of wood that has empty part inside (reducing difficulty))

      Yes indeed, I was really scared about that (I already broke on 7 crack on the edge my ookaze (hinariku kareru fragile shape - shinogi zukuri) that is 1095 > too much carbon for bamboo from my researches motoahara has really great different resilient tool steel from the resilience (no crack/no chip) with dry bamboo I guess it is a 0,6-0,8 pourcentage carbon steel blade to be as resilience as this with my uncorrect cuts. Hopefully I didn't damage the blade of sensei blademan b, that was the most important thing for me (it is so sad when yours but unforgivable if the sword of your teacher or host). Thank you very much, I try my best to follow the advices of this amazing martial artist and try to improve now tameshigiri with bamboo.

    Absolutely one of the best katana videos posted in a long while. I have much respect for Motohara and am lucky enough to have two of them. I have seen the guy doing the training several times on RUclips, he is simply amazing. This would be such an exciting and memorable experience. You both are very respectful and do good at sharing information with the audience. Thank you so much for everything that it took to make this video! That goes for both people!!!

      Thank you very much for your comment and appreciation, it gives motivation to continue the ronin hood adventure. You are lucky indeed to have two motohara, it is incredible how resilience this blade was on dry bamboo and well balanced and so beautiful koshirae (great quality). Blademan b has an expert level in tameshigiri and his skills are just amazing, I felt really greatful that he has received me and gave me the opportunity to learn from him. His style katori shintoryu (+haidomggundo+other) bring jumping cut that are so visual and bring great appeal in his performances. Thank you, I'm glad it can be instructive and relevant, it gives motivation to continue the ronin hood adventure.

    YES!! the multiple bamboo cut was sick. the montage at the beginning was so wholesome too. LOL I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT THE BLADE BEING DAMAGED, I COULD SEE YOU WAS TOO HAHA. Amazing video, learning from you, then watching you learn was so inspiring. I hope to learn more about Tameshigiri from you also. ❤

      Thank you very much, I'm glad you appreciated it :) Yes indeed I was really really scared to break the edge's blade on dry bamboo (my ookaze shinken edge had 6-7 cracks on the edge on green bamboo even with correct posture/slice motion/edge alinement because too fragile 1095 edge) Thanks for your appreciation and support, it is very positive if RH inspire practitioners & katana fans to improve themselves in safe & dedicated battojutsu practice, training hard for enjoying bamboo clean cut & becoming a better - peaceful - human being Osu

    Party at Blademans place! byok hehe Awsome demo, thanks for sharing the refinement of your skills. When practicing, I find katanas cut like sciccors, wher the thicker the paper, the closer to the fulcrum, or tsuba when speaking katana

    That is the main problem I had with the movie as well. Just super unrealistic action and fighting scenes. Starting with the fire fight while driving in the beginning and just taking no end. A good spec ops movie is based on being "realistic" in tactics and scenarios, this is more like a super heroine movie... really didn't like it.

      you are very welcome I have published a tameshigiri method on teachable for safely starting cutting with a katana This way with paper for checking edge alignement / slice motion and posture is very helpful paper is more difficult than omote if uncorrect posture it doesn’t cut good luck
