Sharing my Munro bagging adventures
My toughest munro bagging adventure yet.. The Fisherfield Five Sept 2024
Join me in the toughest round of munro's i've done so far, the Fisherfield Five! This was an epic munro bagging adventure into the heart of the fisherfield forest bagging 5 of the most remote munro's in Scotland. These mountains are rugged and unforgiving but afford some of the most beautiful scenery in the Scottish highlands.
I know this is a longer video than normal but believe me i cut another video length again of this adventure just to try and make it less of an epic video for you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did although i do complain about how tired i am quite often, but thats the nature of these hard won Munro's, they are tough but have left me with wonderful memories of t...

Ben Nevis via the CMD Arete 31st August 2024
Просмотров 964Месяц назад
In this video I hike Ben Nevis via the CMD Arete with my wife Lucy. We have hiked the other national peaks Snowdon and Scafell Pike and was treated to some glorious weather in the Scottish Highlands to complete the national 3 peaks. It's days like this that i make bagging Scottish Munros the epic adventure they should be.

Bagging two more munros near the Bridge of Orchy, these two fine scottish mountains were a great pair to hike together even with the dreaded clag! We still managed to get some great mountain views of the surrounding Scottish Highlands.
Beinn a'Bheithir via the Schoolhouse Ridge 22nd June 2024

A very claggy hike up the schoolhouse ridge to bag the two Beinn a'Bheithir munros, taking along my mate Phil who bagged his first munro's in typical scottish weather.
East Fannich Munros 11th May 2024

My Munro bagging trip around the 4 east Fannich munros. I got incredible weather for the trip which mean the views of the four munros were excellent all day and which afforded great views of the mountains in the north west highlands.

My claggy hike up An Socach (Munro 114). I attempted to chase the weather with this one but the forecast was wildly wrong! Still an enjoyable hike and an easy munro for beginners or if you’ve only got a short amount of time.
Ben More & Stob Binnein 16/03/2024

A day hike up Ben More & Stob Binnein in the Crianlarich range. It was a mixed bag these two munros, started off in stunning winter weather and ended up claggy on the tops. But regardless due to the snow/ice it was atmospheric and made for an enjoyable hike even the step ascent up Ben More. Munros 112 & 113 in the bag and another pair on the list to revisit in the future.

Munros 110 & 111 Ben Starav 1078m & Glas Bheinn Mhor 997m. I had originally thought to hike all 5 of the munros that are often done as a loop starting with Ben Starav but quickly realised the winter conditions and the size of my pack was going to make that impossible. But bagging the two munros was an amazing hiking trip and I thought I’d document it for my first RUclips video. *Apologies for t...
Hi Danny, Enjoyed your trip into this remote area in terrific weather conditions. I've never come into these hills from the north and always preferred the route from Kinlochewe where we've managed to get around the six Munros (before the demotion) in a single day with a camp at Lochan Fada on a few occasions. Such a great area and worth the effort. Well done.... Cheers
Hi Charlie, thank you so much for watching my video and enjoying it too. I’ve watched your channel for a couple years now, so really appreciate it. The weather was incredible if not a little too hot to begin with, some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen in Scotland. When I do them next I think I’ll head in from Kinlochewe, do you head up Beinn Tarsuinn first then head over to A'Mhaighdean? I think a lighter day pack would make the trip more enjoyable. Thanks again and I hope you take a moment to check out my other hikes.
@@summitaboutdanny You can get the bike right into the lochan if you chose then head up Beinn Tarsuinn. I've also gone straight for A' Mhaighdean but the path is a lot less defined and runs out in places. I certainly will enjoy catching up with your previous uploads. Cheers
Wow the clouds… absolutely stunning mate! We always camp in south wales but need to get up there, that’s one of the best bits of footage I’ve seen! Well done mate, really enjoyed that. New sub from us👍🏻!
Thank you so much for the positive comment, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video it was certainly a fun adventure hiking these munros and filming along the way. The clouds were so epic, I couldn’t believe my luck! I’ve never camped on any of the Welsh mountains, we can swap countries for a camp lol. Thank you for the sub
"Corry Mikara-her" is how you prenounce (in phonetic english) the highest peak of the fisherfields (Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair). It just means "the mountain of the the kind person".
Thank you, I need to spend a bit of time practicing the names before I head out. I always check the pronunciation on walkhighlands before I leave but it’s gone from my head by the time I’m actually there. Thanks again
I did this back in 2005 the week before I went to uni. Hardest thing I've ever done. Didn't help that I was wearing an expedition sized pack since I'd spent a few days walking from Dalwhinnie. You went up CMD the sensible way. I walked up to Half Way lochan and then round to the north face of Ben Nevis and then went straight up the side of the CMD and, oh my god, it was sooooo steep. I was so burst when I got to the top it took me about 7 hours to go down the tourist track. I virtually crawled back to Fort William and had the worst sunburn of all time. 🤣
@@Philliben1991 I couldn’t imagine going up the steep side of the CMD, although it’s a longer slog up the way we went it was a lot less steep and more of a gradual ascent. Day packs for sure, I couldn’t imagine doing this with a full expedition sized pack, I’ve done those hikes and they are nowhere near as enjoyable with a huge pack on!
Wow....what a camp you had up there Danny and the inversion conditions you had next morning were awesome.😎☁️🌞 Still have Ruadh Stac Mor and A'Mhaigdean to do coming in from Poolewe and that will leave me with 1 final Munro to do. Great upload, loved ur adventure.😀👍👏👏
I was so lucky with the camp, the conditions were just perfect. The cloud inversion was so good, I spent a while eating my breakfast just watching the sun rise and the cloud moving around. Amazing, I hope you get some great weather for your last few munros. Thanks again, really appreciate the comment and your time watching this long hike. 🙏
The views are opening up! That is an understatement. Just never stare at the bull or the cows, keep them in your peripheral vision, they don’t like being stared at!
@@kimwilliamson2823 haha the views were epic on this trip, some of the best I’ve ever seen. Yeah I just kept eyes on them but just looked forward and moved slowly past them
Nice video of an amazing route.Had this pencilled in for years to compleat the Munros on CMD,but due to weather further up north I had to go for it instead.Great day you picked for it as I done the Arete in the clouds.😂😂 Sooooo many people on the descent off of Nevis.😮🏴👍
We got so lucky bagging these this two munros in such amazing weather, especially this year with how bad it’s been. Such a brilliant hike though and insanely good views, I’ll do them again for sure. I haven’t decided which munros I’m keeping for my final munro. Glad you enjoyed the video mate
I just finished watching your video and really enjoyed it. The way you captured different angles during the hike was impressive. It seems like content creation is something you're passionate about. To achieve more success, improving a few key aspects is crucial: higher CTR, better average view duration, and increased engagement. These factors can really boost your views. I've been working in this field for a long time, so if you ever need help, we could collaborate. Wishing you all the best in your future journey!
My goodness that was rocky, however the views and especially the drone views were spectacular. Glad you survived called your better half a goat, even a mountain goat 😂
It was very rocky and it was nice walking on gravel paths on the way down. Haha Lucy reminded me of that yesterday after she watched it lol
@@summitaboutdanny I bet!
That looks very steep compared to some of your others, love the waterfall.
It was steep but didn’t feel too exposed as the ridge was wide enough to feel comfortable
Really good video mate. Tempted by these munros this coming weekend.
@@cfc18882000 they were great, I really enjoyed them and they were easy enough to do which is nice not having to navigate the whole time
Brilliant vid. I did the first 2 in may but didn't have the time to do the third one as i had to get the train back. However i will be back to do the 3rd one soon. Thanks for posting this.
You’re welcome, they are a great round of munros, hope you can get back soon to bag the last one. Glad you enjoyed the video mate, means a lot
Scotland is awesome, wer hoping to go to isle of sky for our Scotland trip this year👍
Scotland is stunning, and a great place for some hiking. I’m keeping the Isle of Skye for later on in my munro bagging adventures
@@summitaboutdanny nice one, keep adventuring & enjoying life 👌👍👍
The drone footage was stunning, you were pretty lucky with the weather and the midgies
I got very lucky, I really enjoyed these munros. Glad you liked the drone footage, I spent ages getting them right
@@summitaboutdanny it was well worth the effort, great to have the birds eye view
Good to see that the cloud wasn’t low lying. Great views. Particularly liked the water sounds.
The views were amazing and even better when the cloud cleared. Haha glad the water sounds were enjoyed
Loved the forest, as you said very elvish, the big question is though we’re there any of the dreaded midgies?!
No midges thankfully as there was a nice breeze, in the forest I didn’t notice any either.
Even though you guys didn’t get the views you still had a great weekend and hike. The woodland looked very atmospheric.
It was very atmospheric, really enjoyed the walk through the woods, the walk along the road not so much haha!
I really enjoyed that, the weather made it for me, those views are breathtaking. You stepped a bit near the edge for the 2nd, gave me a bit of a scare haha.
Thanks, it wasn’t as close as the camera made out. I wish the weather was like that now
You should take Owen with you next time.
I would enjoy hiking with Owen, long way for him to come for a hike in the highlands
The great British Weather has a mind of it's own. Great video look forward to the next one, hopefully better weather next time.👍
I completely agree about the weather. Hopefully the next hike I’ll get some better weather. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
I can hear how soggy it is. Bad weather definitely follows you. Great video though ☺️
Thanks, it was very soggy, I need to work out how to stay away from this bad weather streak!
@@summitaboutdanny not so easy in Scotland
17:47 Just as you’re saying it’s not been too difficult, you hear the girl scream in the background as she ends up on her arse 😂 Another good vid and the GoPro held up fine 👍
Haha well she didn’t have any micro spikes or crampons! No slipping on my arse thanks to the crampons 😂😂
Ayyy Danny! Great video! Loved the stunning views. The kids’ fav part was the sheep. 😆 🐑 ♥️
The sheep didn’t seem to want to be friends.. I often see quite a bit of wildlife while out, I’ll try and include it in my videos for the kids.
Looks very cold and frosty and windy. Great views to start with. Really enjoyed the video and could hear you all the way through. Looking forward to the next one ☺️
It was very frosty and windy on the tops but an enjoyable hike. Glad the wind sock worked, a fellow RUclipsr and hiker suggested it. I’ll post another video of the hike the next day next week.
🔥🔥
Thanks man
Great stuff, Danny. I'll look forward to more content from you. All the best.
Appreciate it, hopefully heading out this weekend and will film a couple day trips. Thanks for the support mate
Smashing video mate 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully filming another one next weekend
Great views and video mate
Thank you, I really appreciate it
Hello Mem. How Are You? I want to talk to you.
Absolutely incredible views bro! Loved the drone footage, really gives a sense of how vast it is. Keep making them!
Thanks Ruth, I will keep making them. Hopefully the quality improves as I do more of them. It’s so hard to give a sense of the vastness of the mountains, glad the drone footage helps
Amazing views, great video
Glad you enjoyed it. I think a microphone that blocks out the sound of the wind would help make things clearer!
