I believe one major factor in the reason there is such a recent influx of Japanese reverts to Islam, is the fact that the people are culturally very respectful in their behaviour and they mostly exude good manners. These are a key gateway to finding Islam.

I've commented before, but I hope the speaker could make use the time to address problems the Japanese society is facing like lack of purpose of life, depression, extreme work culture, etc and propose Islam to be a solution to that. It'd be such a major missed opportunity if this form of dawah is not utilised.

But essentially the brother Ryota learned about Islam from a "girlfriend" who's apparently Muslim. Although da'wah to kuffar is fard al kifaya, in societies where there's a lot of haram it becomes fard al 'ayn. That means every average layman Muslim must be a good example. If Muslims go dating other people, what kind of impact will that have on reverts? Regardless, Allah SWT chose to guide this brother in such a way. May Allah guide him and keep him on the straight path, Ameen.
