So razzed to see a gal who's into jets. Great content and for what it's worth I'd pay a premium to live there! Love the Driftwood BTW. I would love to make something sculptural.
Here in Grand Junction CO, we also have extremely loud fighter Jets in the air even louder when recently they flew low and slow and vibrated the air.
Love it!
Thank you for this. It help me relax. ❤
I’m lucky to be surrounded by phenomenal beauty
Nice one....👍
Its own if my favorite spots since it’s typically out of the strong winds
Love it
Me too! It’s a good life 🎉
@movetowhidbey Scott Burdette from Windermere Real Estate will be contacting you.
I agree- we dont want crowds
Had a hard time hearing you when you whisper.
I have been fascinated with the concept of liminal spaces. This ferry’s upper deck fits the description - the deck is usually empty with many seats available, as depicted in the video. And at night, the lighting is hazy and warm that gives this a weird sense of peace and a subtle eeriness in my opinion.
Keep in mind, if you have a passport and/or Nexus, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) can be a less busy/less stressful trip than SEATAC, especially from Oak Harbor and Coupeville. International flights are usually a few hundred dollars cheaper than SEATAC as well. :)
The drugs are amazing
We think there are only Pros!
Having lived on Whidbey Island since 2014 both on the south end and in Coupeville the cost of living is getting stupid. The ferry's have gotten so unpredictable with many canceled runs. In the summer time you can wait hours to get off the island on the south end and the wait to get back on island can be longer. Property prices are sky high. Good luck finding anything decent for under $500k.
that's really cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
We are looking to move to Whidbey in the near future, as we love the Puget Sound and all the beauty of the area. We are approaching 40, and I'm curious about the demographic North vs South? From what I can tell the south end of the island might be a bit of an older crowd? Not many restaurants, things like that? Would the north end provide more variety? Thanks for your video! It's so helpful!
Hello! We have a lot of people who would love to play bingo and watch The Love Boat with you!
@copperandstone You are correct on the age demographics. Oak Harbor average age is 31. The rest of the island is doubled and is in the 60’s
No one can hear you that good
Whispering is hard to hear 👂
What?!? Agree to disagree 🤣
My husband and I, both Veterans were stationed there and our daughter was born there. At that time, we felt Whidbey was the most beautiful place on Earth😊😃😍🤩So many wonderful memories.
There is no clubhouse.
I know it’s coming jet = jobs, freedom and ground zero.😮
What about emergency medical services? Must take ages to get to a major hospital, and maybe DOA 😞
There are two hospitals within 15-20 minutes of OH (Whidbey General and Island Hospital in Anacortes--Fidalgo). Additionally, there are EMS services on island as well. Furthermore, both Whidbey and Island have medical/helivac services to larger more specialized hospitals in Seattle (e.g. UW and Harbor View). If you reside in Langley or Clinton, Everett may be a better option for non-emergent care.
Best trails! ❤
the dog looks edible
love Whidbey!!!
Breathtaking I got to see it in person last month. Very awesome video.
They all died because of a disease I am so sad
Locals don’t like this kind of dooming of spots. Please take this add off of social media.
You are annoying🐱🌷
There are virtually NO PUBLIC BEACHES on Whidbey Island. If you can afford waterfront or live in a community that has its own beach, swell. Otherwise, you are limited to the 5-6 miles of public beach broken up into 3-4 parks.
Not entirely accurate. While there are a lot of private access beachfronts, there are (according to a 2020 report) 69 public access points to its 150 miles of beaches. Yes, the parks are a great way to enjoy: Deception, Casey, Rocky Point, Ebey, Dugualla, South Whidbey and West Beach to name a few. The biggest liability today on Whidbey (Puget Sound in general) is the high cost of living.
30 years + here. Love it.
No, we don’t want people to move here.
Don’t fucking come here
The loud sounds of the military jets is too loud.
Agree, the jets can be LOUD
If you’re considering buying in this neighbourhood, please keep two things in mind: it’s unbearably loud when the Navy jets fly directly over your house (as in, you have to turn the volume up to maximum to watch anything and good luck making a phone call or trying to enjoy your yard). Second, we have a social club that likes to pretend it’s an HOA. It is NOT an HOA, but they will try to bill you for dues and take you to court if you don’t pay. Beautiful view? Sure. But it’s an awful community and I wouldn’t waste your time or money.
So pretty!
There are so many amazing birds to see on Whidbey. (Those Buffleheads are so adorable). When we moved here, a friend bought us a bird book. There are so many incredible birds to see. Both at the water and inland. Thanks for this great reminder.
Oh wow! I love friends that know how special birds are.
🥰
bird girl!
I lived there for 3.5 years, it was awful, at least for younger people. Nice scenery tho
You are correct that quite often Whidbey Island can be boring for younger individuals especially those moving here from bigger cities. (The beauty is the best part)
I live on the north end . Whidbey has lots to do if you are into hiking, boating, kayaking and other outdoor activities but if you want night clubs etc., this is not the spot for you
@@lisanovich3285 I lived on the north and too and I'm very much into those things. There are no dirt trails in Oak Harbor except the ones by Windjammer park and overall I just had a very negative experience there. It's a nice place to be sure, just not for me.
Biking thru this area is a great idea.
We should make a girls day!
Yes! Especially now that the weather is getting nicer. I’ve never rode in that area. It looks nice and flat too!
So pretty.
I’m worried about what I can’t see right now. Not a place for me. Too many KAREN types I’m sure.
I do know there’s typically more Karen’s than Anita or Juanita. This area not so much
Mariner’s Cove is such a beautiful community.
It is absolutely a beautiful area. I love all the homes on the water with docks

Dont waste your time reading this, seriously. Its just me venting. Washington is beautiful. I'm glad I got to see it before it was ruined by dictatorial, corrupt government. "legalized" drug free for all, the push for government dependency, Jaydolf Inslee trying to maintain his dictatorship. Pushing continued violation of both state and federal constitutions. Usurping the law making process by decree or mandate. Actual bills that the citizens of the whole STATE voted for overturned by lawsuit from 1 city because the people just didn't understand how much Seattle needs all the money it gets from that state tax to support its infrastructure, stupid us not realizing that. Why wouldn't an entire state bow down and support it, it is the jewel of state, the only one that matters really. Sadly, Washington is soon to be a place I used to know. Garbage, open drug use, homeless camps, compounds and broken-down Rvs, cars and truck pop ups everywhere. Rampant theft because the police were basically instructed not to engage unless it was over 1k. Jaydolf really really wants the Portland, San francisco, Chicago, New York political vibe and the entire State is held hostage by 1 city. Far too long of an off topic rant for a beautiful video. I'm sad, although I will have fond memories, they are overshadowed by the crappy ones. Living somewhere else within the next five years is the goal.
