Blue Boat Home - updated September 2021
💛🌿🌼
My partner died of cancer in 2015 & he said how lucky he was to have me "walk in rain" with him through the darkest days.. & even though we knew it would take his life, how I brought him hope. We sing this at my Unitarian church in Shrewsbury UK & I always think of him with love.
Lovely! So glad to have discovered this.
Oh my goodness, this is just so beautiful, it's making me cry. I'm hoping to find the music for this in three parts.
Thank you!!! My church sings this hymn so so often and I wanted to start listening to it more!! Beautiful hymn!!
We're singing this in choir later this year
Great performance! Sounds great. Do all of them!
The little choir I sing in at a tiny church will be singing this coming Sunday. Psyched! Thanks!
Fantastic. Thank you.
Share a dream with me
Lovely 😍 👌 👍 🥰 ☺️
Thank you Mike for sharing this, Eric was a great guy to share music and time with. I enjoyed collaborating with him to write and record music. Due to my personal / health issues i'm unable to attend his Celebration of Life. This really helped me get through the day.
He was a real gem. We are fortunate to have shared the stage with him.
My choir is singing this for ISSMA. It so beautiful
We were singing this in choir the other day
It is so good to be singing in choirs again! :)
Nice singing. Great voices!
Thank you! My daughter Alena s amazing. I just added some harmony. :)
this is so good thanks for making it
It was my pleasure. We made a lot of videos during the pandemic. A real joy.
Vaccine is for people who can smell taste hear see eat touch sleep and wake up feeling fresh air and be kind to others around you friends come and go but true friend leave footprints to follow but what truely matters is that your family relatives neighbors stay threw thick and thin threw your ups and downs highs and lows
Your body needs rest to generate health and recover then heal then it needs to repair itself that is why our lord said when you get a job ask for 1-2 days off holidays off and special occasion off so you can spend time with your family relatives neighbors as much as possible and always have a thirst for knowledge and look up to your elders and know who your raab is
That the world law's don't apply to us anymore because we are all one and in hevean and with our prophets and our Angels and our raab and we have family relatives neighbors nieces nephews we have duties obligations needs desires fancies lust and hope Faith fate loyalty generoustity thankfulness happyness laughter joy trust kindness passionate affectionate well mannerisms characteristics etiquettes to be the best we are and not be so hard on our selfs as pressure can lead to stress then to hardship then into hatred then into denial then into regret then into self lothing then into a dark depression then into Chaos then into suicide
What it means that the world is temporary were your ancestors that came before you and left before for you that we are adults we have one religion one raab one love one faith one destination one goal one mission one object one focus one balence one job one balance one dream but many hearts
Jim Scott came to First U Omaha, and it was wonderful to sing this beautiful hymn with him!
Ah! What a wonderful experience!
This beautiful and powerful hymn always brings tears to my eyes. It says everything about Unitarianism. Wonderful presentation.
lower yes (Old Anglican from Dallas)
I am a trumpet player and the part they gave me to play is an active higher than the trumpet on this music. I think I like it played lower.
Do you mean an octave higher than the melody in this video? Or the same octave as this video?
@@RanMouri82 an octave above this video
Wonderful! Loved it then, and love it now ❤
The vocalist on this has a lovely voice.
Thank you for the kind words. That is my daughter, Alena Hemingway. We had a lot of fun making vids during the Covid closure.
This is such a beautiful rendition of this song, thank you so much for sharing it. I am a Unitarian in the UK and also grieving the recent loss of my parents and find it very moving.
My condolences. Thank you for the kind words. :)
Hey Mike and Carol, If you have any more videos from this period, It'd be great to see them!
Those were the good old days. I regret not seeing them perform. Carol has a beautiful heart and a sultry voice.
We had a lot of fun making people happy. Thanks for the kind words.
I made a two-hour video for Eric's memorial. ruclips.net/video/itxFyuXXp6M/видео.html :) Mike
This song should be our national anthem!! It reflects our nation's deepest, truest values.
Well said. May it ever be so.
this song is one of my favorites it embraces the Christian tradition and the tradition of the peace. A better video for a beautiful song.
Thank you for the kind words.
Love your music! Used your arrangement of "For All That is Our Life" as inspiration for our Service Auction last year, looking for a new song for this year's auction. Have a question about this song: "Look in My Heart" (The Ordination Song) don't see it in the UU hymnals or anywhere, do you know the history? Is it primarily used for ordinations?
is there a chance you may upload the music sheet for piano?
Thank you for this recording!
You are most welcome! Please feel free to use anything on our channel. :)
Great version - I just shared the link with our congregation here in Cheltenham UK where this is not well known. A really moving performance - thank you.
How kind! Thank you.
❤🎃 thanks 🙏 for the update thanks 🙏
nice...what is and where is love?
Just heard this again at this morning’s Unitarian Universalist service in Buffalo. It has always been one of my favorites. Your rendition is beautiful. Thank you!
How kind of you! :)
Lovely rendition, very moving to me as I sing along ☺
Thank you, Matthew. This was one of our earliest efforts during the pandemic.
I am so grateful for your compassionate and powerful harmonizing. Your understanding of this song deeply resonated with me. When our Director of Music was down with COVID this weekend, I turned to your music for our Sunday service this morning. Thank you from Mountain Vista UU in Tucson, AZ.
You are most welcome! Thank you for the kind words. Mike
Love this song!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Watching beloved granddaughter watching bees 🐝 gathering pollen and following woodlouse for ages around patio area. Absolute wonder at life 😍
Has anyone else done two tags? It seems like such an easy way to elevate a performance but this blew my mind the first time I watched it and I've still seen nothing like it
I mean, great singers, I could not do half of a quarter of what they did but to sing on pitch is a display of virtuosity? the only one hitting the virtuosity mark, for me, is the lead (for lung capacity and breath control)
What makes the barbershop style so distinct is how four people can sound like much more, and the focus on overtones. To truly master this art, it’s not enough to just be in tune; you have to use good vowel production to blend with each other well, and I think that’s probably what the virtuosity boils down to. Another thing is how in tune they are with each other, as they’ve probably rehearsed a ton for this. Small minute changes in pitch can make all the difference in how strongly overtones are produced, and they absolutely hit the mark here with the ringing you can hear in the chords! Sorry for the rant. I hope it was helpful :D
A beautiful song, a beautiful voice.
How kind of you! Thank you.
I am floored by how beautifully you have captured the spirit of ordination -- which until this moment I would have always said lies beyond expression ❤
How very kind! Your comment fills my heart.
Wonderful video. Beautiful singing. Thank you. One note on lyrics. Whenever Ric had the chance, he would ask folks to make this correction in the hymnal: mark out "bear" and replace it with "bare." He meant to say reveal your pain to others rather than endure it. "Share the laughter. Bare the pain." Please spread the good word on that. Thank you. RIP, wonderful Ric. ~ Karen at UUC Monterey Peninsula - his home congregation
Hi Karen. Thank you for the kind words and lyric correction. An important distinction! :)
