    I dont get the hate for Elon you have a guy who at every turn was told it can never be done, he was told that EVs would never work, he led the charge and pushed EV teck forward. Then he was told that they would never be able to meet demand, He built the giga factory, it wasnt meeting production goals. The dude slept in his office at the factory found and fixed the flow issues and optimized and met the production goals. He started a rocket company (space X obviously) from scratch, couldn't get rocket engineers so he said screw it ill do it myself and he started designing rockets until he hit the testing phase and proved that it was a serious project, and then he was flooded with good rocket engineers. He wanted to reuse boosters and was told it couldnt be done. Not only are the rocket boosters reusable they are self guiding to within a foot landing on a boat in the ocean that drives itself. They are telling him that you cant catch a rocket and restack it.... it hasnt happened yet but its in progress. He is a champion of free speech to be an absolutist. He is an immigrant from South Africa that has come to the united states and been one of the most successful men in history. What is not to admire about the guy? Hes worth looking up to. Hes worth aspiring too. That being said hes a man, as in hes human, and being human hes flawed. Questionable choices in women, doesnt hold traditional family values, and from time to time runs his mouth and it gets him in trouble, can be crude at times ( though sometimes its warranted, telling Newsom to sugon deznuts was funny as hell) but none of this diminishes his achievements, none of this diminishes his drive, and this is really someone to motivate young future leaders. A man who is flawed as every man is, but a man with an unparreled drive and an ability to not only learn from his mistakes but improve on the systems already in place. He challenges dogma at every turn to ensure its purpose. And he humble enough to listen and take advice from others. (as an example he was doing an interview with a space enthusiast youtuber while walking around space ex and describing the engine and some of the issues he had, and the youtuber said something about recycling the exhaust to do something (its way over my head) Elon said no we cant.... wait....no I think your really onto something, im going to look into that. and it led to like a 2% efficiency increase in the rocket.) Im not a stan for the guy or anything and am willing to acknowledge his flaws but as far as I can tell the good in his character far exceeds the bad and I think thats is the mark of an ultimately good man.

    • @tossingsaladpodcast
      @tossingsaladpodcast 18 дней назад

      Generally if a packaged deal it would require you to return all as a package or bundled deal. This is different cause the discount is applied to each item on the receipt and thus shows you what each tool cost is and what you get back specifically, depending on what you return. You can return items in general if you don’t have your receipt cause they would look it up on the card you purchased under but I haven’t tried or heard anyone else try successfully/unsuccessfully to return without a receipt using the “hack”

    Probably not a commencement speech. We used to have guest speakers at USNA when I was there who were influential people, usually to speak on issues of leadership. They were called Forrestal lectures (named after James Forrestal, first Secretary of Defense). We called them Bore - us - all lectures since they tended to be snooze fests except for the lecture Ross Perot gave. I think hearing Elon Musk speak on leadership, especially on how he exercises it at Space X, Tesla, and X is totally appropriate.

Ross was very fascinating person and one of the more memorable moments was during the Q&A a Midshipman asked him a really dumb question. Ross basically called him an idiot and said he should ask his roommate. Another great moment was in another lecture the Brigade Commander (senior Midshipman) fell asleep during the lecture on the dais right behind the speaker. If you're looking to pay the least amount for the battery, because you'll return the other item and only keep the 12 AH battery, you want to pick the least expensive item with this particular hack. That's not always the rule but for this particular deal it is. Let me explain further below. For me on this deal this time, this ended up being the 5 AH battery. So that's what I picked and added to my online cart and ultimately returned just last week. They were delivered as 2 separate items on consecutive days last week to my house. And then I returned the item I didn't want back to my local store with no questions asked. So anyone who says the hack doesn't work any longer or thinks it's wrong or illegal to do, doesn't know what they're talking about. I've been doing these "Hacks" for about 6 years now and when done correctly results in very good prices for top of the line tools or batteries from Home Depot. For this hackable deal I immediately returned the 5 AH battery to my local store, so the Milwaukee M18 12 AH battery ended up costing me $109 plus tax. That's a great price on this currently biggest and highest performing Milwaukee battery, which I mostly use in my chain saw, but sometimes will use in any other Milwaukee M18 tool that's mostly stationary or one that doesn't need to be lifted and used overhead and where weight can be a long-term issue. There are other times when picking the most expensive "Free" item results in the lowest net price for what you plan to keep, but that's not the case this time. In the end paying $109 for the 12 AH battery is a very good deal and this meets the $10/per AH rule I try to follow when purchasing any battery for most of my power tools. Occasionally, usually right after Christmas, I can get some Ridgid or Ryobi batteries using the hack method for less than that $10/AH price, but it varies each holiday season. This past January I was able to purchase the Ridgid 2 tool combo deal with the hard case, 2 batteries (6AH and 4AH Max Output), for around $119 after they placed those kits on clearance at the stores but the 2 free tools hacks were still active as well. This was when I selected the 2 most expensive tools that came with that holiday deal which happened to be the blower and string trimmer. The deal rung up to be $309 for everything at the store because the 2 tool combo set was placed on clearance trying to get rid of what didn't sell in stores during the holidays. When I purchased that deal in store on January 26th 2024, I walked out the exit, put the 2 tool combo kit into my car and immediately walked back into the store and went to the Customer Service desk with the other 2 items I wanted to return. They took them back with no questions asked and when all was said and done the 2 tool combo kit ended up costing me only $119 plus tax. Because I register everything I purchase that's Ridgid on their website within 90 days, I get the Lifetime Service Agreement for all of their tools and batteries. And while Ridgid is not quite as good as Milwaukee performance wise, they are very close so for me Ridgid is the better deal because of the LSA that is available for their tools, batteries and chargers. Flex tools offers a similar Lifetime Warranty, as does Metabo HPT. So I often try to use these 3 brands of tools if possible. Sure, I still own many Milwaukee and DeWalt tools, aling with Bosch and a few others as well, but those 3 brands I just mentioned are the best values because of their warranties when you can find them on clearance throughout the year. Ultimately you need to play around with the free tools offered from Home Depot to figure out the best deals for Milwaukee and DeWalt tools when these offers become available. But as you mentioned, sometimes when the deal is showing the free tool or battery, and main tool as a bundled deal which means you can't return just one for a refund. But if you can add both tools or batteries to your cart online individually you'll often still be able to get the hack deal being offered, but this method allows you to return 1 if the items back to the store, resulting in the lower net price being paid for what you want to keep. Again, you need to play around with what's being offered on the website, and then look for the items to add individually to your online cart, to see if you can hack the deal. And what's important is the 2 items must show up as individual items with 2 separate lower prices, or return value price, in your online cart or on your final in store receipt, in order to be able to perform the hack. As long as the online cart or final store receipt shows these 2 separate lower prices for each item, the deal is hackable. This only works at Home Depot and not Lowe's. So that's where I purchase most of my power tools when I need some.

      I’ll try to get on tonight or tomorrow and look at them and see if anything is new too. I haven’t heard from anyone that has had the inflator hack work since this week.

    How is this not fraud?

      I guess we can start where you think it is fraud and then we can go from there.

    Why even return the battery? I mean you’re basically still getting the inflator for cheaper and a$75 battery/charger

      You may already have enough batteries

      Yeah, I don’t want the wife to hear this, but I have plenty of batteries and chargers if I’m being honest. But twist my arm and I can be in need of a new battery right quick

    This hack is legit and has been for a very long time. You don't necessarily have to return the tool your not keeping back to the store you can just complete your order then wait about 5 minutes then go back into your purchase history and just cancel the tool you don't want. You will still get the tool your wanting to keep or you can just return it to the store works either way.

      @tossingsaladpodcast Месяц назад

      I’ve heard people say they could do this but the 2 times I’ve done it I’ve looked and no option but to cancel the whole thing. I’ll look closer next time I try it. I’m in need of an angle grinder for the mower and will look up see what “hacks” are available and if I can do what you are saying. Thanks for the heads up

      Yeah they definitely closed that loophole. Whether or not returning it in-store will work probably depends on the person you get at the store but I suspect they're pushing out training to remove that loophole as well.

      My only thoughts on perhaps if that is true, they would make a note online or on receipt. And that hasn’t changed to my knowledge. Looks like we may have to try it again for research purposes to find out lol

    If you do this often "return items" you'll be red flagged by Home Depot as a frequent returner. There is a way to fly under the radar. I'll let you figure it out. It's been mentioned many times online

      It’s all a %. Abuse anything and go too far you’ll get noticed. But the amount I spend vs return is insignificant. The type of business HD is in, they encourage home users and contractors to make sure and get what you need and more and just return what you don’t need within their policy. But good to raise question for people not to go too over board with this if they don’t buy a lot from them
