Miss Austen Flick Through
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.4 года назад
I posted this little flick through of a finished copy of Miss Austen on instagram but thought I'd upload it here too. I created the cover embroidery for this novel last summer (I videoed the process and uploaded it to my RUclips channel, you can find the link in my bio). I’ve always wanted have a dust jacket that shows the back of the embroidery on the inside so I’m finally living that dream 😄 ...
Embroidering the cover for 'Miss Austen'

I discovered while editing this that I’m one of those people who’s voice goes a bit higher at the end of statements so it’s maybe like a question? I’ll work on it next time, I promise! This design was created over the span of about a month and a half as I was working on another project at the same time (but decided to wear the same dress while filming for the sake of visual continuity). You have such incredible attention to detail, I am amazed by your skill!! I was wondering, what is the group of threads next to the fawns head for? And in general I wondered what your technique was with all the needles with a piece of thread on the side, like, if you cut a thread from the spool ready to use it? I do some embroidery but not needle painting, so I wondered if this was in order to be able to change quickly the colours? Cant wait to see more of your work!

    The tiny bird is looking so sweet Chloe 😍 good idea putting all your tiny bits of thread in a jar, I would probably have bits of thread all over the table and then tread them around the house 😅

    • @chloegiordano2129
      @chloegiordano2129 3 года назад

      I do it to save moving my arm an extra 15 inches to the side to the bin, seems petty but when you're stitching all day every day it saves a lot of effort 😂(thread still gets all over the place, I find it on all of my clothes and occasionally in a cup of tea)

    Good morning Chloe ☺️ I love seeing your process. Your sketchbooks are beautiful, I love how you stick in inspiration as well. I used to do that at school (possibly also to fill up pages 😅) but it’s such a great idea and it’s interesting to see your inspiration next to your sketches. Usually my inspiration is all digital on Pinterest or Instagram. Also that pasta looked good 😋

    • @chloegiordano2129
      @chloegiordano2129 3 года назад

      Haha yes it does remind me of school! I find it helpful to have all my ideas in the same place so I tend to do this even if I have a good quality print or a book with the images in. ps - the last thing I put on the pasta was the Wicked nooch with garlic and herbs which I recommend if you haven't tried it yet, absolute game changer and I don't want to go back to the standard stuff now 😀 x

It's been so lovely to watch this video and I hope that you do many more. I bought this book because of the cover! I love your own book too. Please can you tell me what embroidery frame you are using? It looks really solid. I've only used hoops.
