While picking up a patient at the hospital, I saw LifeFlight about to take off from the helipad. I’ve never been that close to a helicopter taking off before, so it was an unexpected surprise. My prayers are with the patient onboard the helicopter for a fast recovery.

    when did cta's 2400 series end?

    • @BoratWanksta
      @BoratWanksta 6 лет назад

      According to chicago-l.org , the last time the 2400s were in revenue service was in October 2014 on the Orange Line. There were some that allegedly made their way into Brown Line runs, as well. After October 31st, the last 2400s were officially retired from revenue service. I recall the 2400s were all taken out of Purple Line service some time before October 2014, as 5000s(their newest railcars) were introduced into service on the Purple Line. IIRC, the farewell trip was in January 2015, when they briefly ran on various 'L lines for a final trip so to speak. Keep in CTA kept a few 2400s as part of their heritage fleet, and they have occasionally brought them out again for special events, such as into service when the Cubs were in the playoffs in 2016. I forget if the CTA brought them back into special service again, during the 2017 playoffs for the Cubs.

      @@BoratWanksta they did bring them back for heritage fleet service in 2017, but for the 125th anniversary of the L and the CTA’s 70th anniversary. They were also out this year in 2022 for the CTA’s 75th anniversary.
