I saw this back in August at Blossom Music Center, the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra. There's something so surreal on hearing the score live and the energy from the crowd. That night was magical and I can't wait to go back and see what they have next year.

There's something about this rendition that really makes me emotional. I think it's the fact you don't necessarily hear the violin solo when it begins, but it starts breaking through the rest of the instruments a little after the solo begins. Whether it intentional or not doesn't matter, it adds so much symbolism. You have an entire orchestra going crazy and you have 1 violinist breaking through all of that and becoming the lead voice. Not to mention the echo created from the violinist makes it feel like it's the lone voice in this tirade of music. This is something you can only get from a live orchestra. The vibrato from the violin makes it feel like it's terrified of going into this battle, yet it is charging through regardless. It's kind of an allegory for bravery. Bravery is not being unafraid, but acting despite of fear.

Hello ! Anyone who has attended a LOTR symphony, especially in Europe/Netherlands: do people wear LOTR costumes? I'd like to wear light cosplay, a flowy dress and cloak, maybe some ear tips and a small crown. Is this customary, or would it be ridiculous??
