Something really important you repeated a LOT and which is actually true : Spend the first 2-3 weeks with your puppy. Take holidays and spend time with your dog. Take it everywhere. Let it be pet by everyone. Just show it life and let it discover everything. For chewing, I would recommend doing short exercises with the Kong when she tries to chew something she should not. Showing her what she can chew on and what she can't. Also good choice for the Kong. Although I would not recommend leaving balls, ropes, ... And other interaction toys (Toys used by the owner to play with the dog) on the floor for it to play freely. Then they can differenciate what is used when they are bored and what is used with the owner. This will help to teach your dog to bring back specific toys when playing together

I use baby wipes all the time and my Chihuahua has never had anything. I just buy the baby wipes instead of trying to find dog wipes because I live in a small town so getting baby wipes is just easier

Rosario is right ; they ARE a lot of work. Routine and structure are very important since Corgis are smart dogs. They can run you if you don’t set the routine early in life. But they are worth your effort. Some end up in shelters because people thought they were getting lap dogs which they are not. Corgis are high energy until they age; then they may become more of a lap pet. So some people discovered this too late and they ended up in shelters☹️

We just adopted a corgi puppy mill mom who spent 6 years in a cage giving birth to little corgis all her life. Always consider adoption. Do not create demand for those pure breeds. It adds up to this horrible business and animal exploitation. Shelters and rescues are full of animals needing love and care.

Corgis are very very mouthy they are herding dogs and have lots of energy and back problems because of the long backs. They love to chase things and nip at your heels as that’s what they were /are breed to do. Herd

Do your research don’t just get a pet based on looks. Make sure the breed fits your lifestyle

Hey Ik this video is about 3 years old but just a few tips for the corgi When she feels alone wherever she is you should let her whine especially when she’s in the crate because that’s showing to her that if she whines she can get out of the crate and puppy’s have a memory up to 5-10 mins and when you put them in the crate they are thinking in a few mins you are never coming back and getting a small like baby crate (idk what they are called) but for dogs can help her become more independent! It’s showing her that she can be with you and not interact all the time and be alone, and if you give her attention ALL the time and always be around her it’s going to give her separation anxiety in the long term and also something I learned from people when you have a puppy and most puppy owners probably wish they knew this when they had the puppy but how many months the puppy is how many hours the puppy can hold in their pee/poop

Pls make sure your only taking her into pet friendly stores as she's not a service dog. No hate just a fyi. From a service dog handler. But that no you for the tour this helped me with packing my dogs bag.

Yup, the vet bills are expensive because they take advantage of your affection for your pup. One vet use to charge me $350 to clean my corgi's teeth. Another vet charged $150 for the same cleaning. You have to search for a good vet. My corgi lived for 14 wonderful years and I enjoyed every 2AM poop sessions.

What kind of stores though? Hopefully, not none pet friendly stores. As a service dog handler, it's extremely terrifying hearing RUclipsr's say to the stores. Because a lot of RUclipsr's think that it's OK to take their pet where they don't belong.

The amount of things that literally happened to you after getting a puppy was really amazing. Literally, not leaving your house for three weeks is wild. Even during the pandemic, I can’t imagine not leaving your house for three solid weeks. That is literally incredible.

I was gifted a corgi puppy and thank you for the info. I have a dachshund and honestly the corgi is easier to train and take care off. They get along great and luckily I aready puppy proofed my house. I’m blessed to have 10 acres of land and they get plenty of fun and exercise

Great to meet you and Maui. I've had corgis forever, love the breed and each one has a different personality. One thing I need to comment regarding your posts. The vibrating, color distortion treatment that you're applying to the text can cause seizures in individuals with seizure disorders (like me). I have to look away, shut my eyes etc. So I end up listening to your post, and not watching. BUT she is such a fun puppy!! Thanks for listening. GC
