Yoghurt must smell like sour mum's milk. They are grown up and don't have milk.
Maybe it just smells like...bad milk(?) to them? Since they know what their own milk smells like, they may not want it aged because they perceive it as spoiled. (Edit: try adding lots of fruits or veggies!)
