SRAM i3 - Byk E450 failed brake on rear hub

I've contacted SRAM Australia to discuss our options. The SRAM i3 - i motion hub has a recall against it, and I suspect this model suffers from the same fate. I will provide an update with SRAM Australia's response. Hopefully they can repair or replace the hub so that this bike is safe to use again

Great to see a concrete truck driver taking due care through an intersection. Passenger window down, window open to hear what is happening around them, indicator on well in advance, not encroaching on bicycle lane, checked mirrors 3 times, and as going around the corner, and went around corner slowly and with a wide arc, great work!

I spent a week in Perth and found the drivers quite courteous. Some of the infrastructure was third-world quality.
I am sick of Bikes that keep using main roads even when a bike path has been built for them at taxpayers expence. Alexandra Avenue along the Yarra River is always cluttered with bike riders in peak hour traffic, that do not use the provided bike path.
Not relevant here, this is a main cycle route into Melbourne CBD

@@turrican4d599 Bullshit. We paid for these 'right of way' so you stop blocking traffic. The LAW is to use them where they are built so YOU get a safe ride. You can't keep making up which Road Rules you want to obey. Like Red Lights, Pedestrian Crossings, Give Way Signs and Footpaths. Ever Rider ON THE ROADS should have a Drivers/Riders Licence that proves they know the Road Rules.. IDENTIFICATION of Bikes also needs to be made LAW with I.D. Plates. It works in many Countries.

the issue is, the person in front looks to signal they are moving back out to the right, but is instead signally they are performing a hook turn. both the same signal

You know in some other states you're allowed to ride on the footpath? It's less dangerous than these lanes in Melbourne. I live in Werribee so luckily around here there is a lot of good bike lanes (the odd area where some idiot has smashed glass is a problem though). But I gotta go into Melb sometimes... do I wanna drive my car and be stuck in traffic or risk these horrible bike lanes?

@@korranis1 And as bicycle infrastructure improves and it becomes more safe and efficient to use a bicycle, more people will choose to leave their car at home and go by bike, meaning there’s less cars on the road. Most cars have single occupancy, so they take up a lot more space than a bike would. It’s a pity bike infrastructure is often implemented poorly, often by people who have no knowledge of decent bicycle infrastructure, and if the traffic engineers are competent they have to deal with politicians who don’t want to spend any money. The Netherlands for example is often deemed on the best countries to drive in, despite the focus on bicycle infrastructure. Back in the 60s and 70s cities were congested until more space was given to bicycles. But a good bike lane is more than just a painted line on the street. It sucks for car drivers if the bike lanes aren’t clear either, or if the lights for left turns go green when bikes going straight also get green. To me that’s poor bike infrastructure. It’s dangerous for cyclists and annoying for drivers.

Biggest takeaway for me was that the traffic behind couldn't be trusted to keep a safe 1m gap when it came alongside.... so staying in the traffic lane all the way until reaching stationary traffic, then using those skinny green 'murder lanes' for filtering only, is looking like a good strategy.
