Medicare 101 for Veterans Full Webinar 2023
Tricare for Life when 67 and have Medicare also..... or (Retired Military).... Also a 100% disabled veteran. (I have both coverages). Does either pay?
I AM A VETERAN. IN THE VIETNAM ERA. MY TOUR WAS DONE AND NO INJURES AT ALL. HOWEVER ? WHEN I NEEDED V.A. HOSPITALS TO HELP ME OUT ? THEY DIDN'T. ALWAYS AN EXCUSE. I WENT TO TWO V.A. HOSPITALS. AGAIN NOTHING WAS DONE. NOW BECAUSE OF THE WONDERFUL SCAM OF V.A. I AM A FULL PLEDGED HANDICAP. YOU CAN STICK YOUR V.A. BENEFITS WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE. ONCE A VET ALWAYS A VET MY AZZ. THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE ME YOU DON'T CARE FOR THE LACK OF CARE WE VETERANS DON'T GET. YOU WOULDN'T WANT ME FOR YOUR SPOKEMEN ON V.A. GOV IS A SCAM.
Someone can turn it off? Please, do tell. What a moron.
Great analysis, thank you! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
You are wondering who controls bitcoin and completely missing that it's you yourself. Everyone that has a node has control over the rules of the network. You yourself decide the rules on your node. Noone can turn it off, you can only choose to not be part of the network anymore. Thinking someone can turn of bitcoin is like thinking that someone can turn off the internet. Who controls the internet? It's the the individual people in the network that send and receive data. The same goes for bitcoin. There is no one actor that can turn it off.
Why couldn't your Hypothetical veteran get coverage from the health care marketplace instead?
Great question curt! That is because once you qualify for Medicare, you no longer for the Affordable Care Act plans offered through the marketplace. Well, technically you can get an ACA plan but you have to totally decline Medicare A and B and you also would not be eligible for the tax credit subsidies. That means you would have to pay the FULL premium for the ACA plan, which would be FAR more that Medicare. And on top of that ACA plan are very inferior to Medicare. Thanks for watching.
Do not get an advantage insurance my advice to veterans. Advantage program is no guarantee they will approve your procedure or treatment
Ron is the GOAT of Medicare!
Thanks!!!
If you're a VET why would you need medicare at all? Isn't that what VA hospitals are for.
Is Medicare broken everywhere, or just the LA area? I am serious
Get to the point …. Gee whiz 5 minutes and still to figure out what they are trying to explain.
Good info, but sadly most of the calls I get are recordings. No one is going to hear take me off your list.
Mediocre Advantage.
Medicare should pay for everything. Not this Adv or Gap. I'll take the politician plan.
Always have a plan b with your Healthcare is possible. The VA aint always sunshine and lollipops, they may screw over anytime and theres nothing you can do about it.
Mark is top!
Medicare don’t pay for diabetes
I extremely like the video, man. Very helpful and informative. Thank you very much. It is presented so well too. Great, positive work.
@@paulwilliams8067 thank you Paul!!
Only when we live abroad ..it is a scam.
What does a veteran do if he is still working at age 65?
Yes...why they taking 170 per 😊month while I live in Thailand
Knowledge is Power and the information provided in this video serves its purposes to an extent! First of all, the scenario used in the video is misleading. The video is about VA benefits working in conjunction with Medicare. I worked and retired from the VA after 20 years (Health Administration) so l gained extensive knowledge pertaining to VA benefits. There’s a humongous difference between having a service condition of Cancer and receiving treatment vs being diagnosed with Cancer and trying to make the condition a service connected disability in order to receive treatment and compensation. It’s not the same! My point is the VA in any case, will never tell a veteran “ you are on your own “. With or without Medicare coverage , the patient is entitled to proper treatment. A patient who’s Cancer is service connected will have no copays to make , a patient who’s Cancer is not service connected will have a copay but that’s it all….
TRI CARE FOR LIFE - EXPRESS SCRIPTS WON'T PROVIDE MAIL ORDER PHARMACY SERVICE FOR MY DIABETIC MEDICINE ...... KEEP SAYING THEY ARE OUT ! How do I sue them ???
My wife has the same problem. We’ve quit using express scripts and use the local pharmacy and have had no problems since. So happy to not have to use them anymore!
Bravo
Dude. I heard you talk about the VA and the care vets recieve. What is VERY important what % a veteran has and for what. Are they 100% P&T? Also is the vet rated for the condition they are getting treatment for? Are they getting treated based on income? Those are all important questions and with the example you gave you did not give enough detail to make the broad sweeping statements you did regarding at least one you three mistakes you mentioned..
I work for Social Security. This is very well explained. To all the comments each person’s situation is unique make sure you understand your specific situation. Don’t focus saving a nickel. I speak to many vets that make choices that some times comes with delays and or penalties.
A nickel? He said Medicare Part B was just over $170 per month. That's like 3,400 nickels every month. I might drop one on the sidewalk now and again, but goodness that's a lot of nickels.
Ron which one would you prefer to do for LTC in retirement? A Life Insurance plan or Annuity?
Thank You!!
Late to the party but good advice. I'm a Vietnam vet, I signed up with the VA years ago but have never used them and rely on my Medicare and supplement. It is nice having VA benefits as a backup. When I applied learned the VA ranks (triage) vets into classification based on disability and service.
Should use Medicare as a backup to VA. Just way cheaper no copays unless your priority group is less than 3
Just watched The Entire vid ... Where Ya mentioned a few times 'Only 5 min' of Yer Time ...
I have TRICARE For Life plus Medicare parts A & B. I have 80% VA disability after five years of appeals. I am 67 years old. Can I put the VA in my rear view mirror or am I required to get a physical or checkup at least once a year? I’m really sick of the VA and, now that I’ve won my case, I’d rather not deal with them ever again.
I know it’s a struggle but keep pushing for 100% it’s worth the struggle. And yes you still need to see the VA doctor once a year
Mistake #4 , thinking a Medicare Advantage policy is going to be the best insurance to cover cancer. (not)
I have Medicare A and B plus tricare for life if you are fully retired and pay tax . I have delta for my tooth I do nothing I pay lots of tax even I want to work again. Too much tax and yes I pay my Medicare takin out from my pension . But I do work so much and raised my four kids alone .I don’t ask help not welfare nor child support. I owe no one I feed losers and my four kids my grandchildren are all in great shape. Not even got no stimulus that’s my price for raising them tho way I like . Oh well good luck to all I will pay tax till the day I died . I never call SS they called me to stop working I don’t listens you bet I was shock I pay too much tax . I’m fully retired I’m 75 set for life 🙏♥️
Question, for in person seminars, how do you get appointments with people afterwards? People seem to drop off the face of the earth afterwards 😂 Anyways thanks for making these videos they help a lot
I do not care for the Advantage plan, due to their approval/authorization requirements and networks! And huge out of pocket costs.
What is the difference for the monthly premiums between plans F & G? I have plan F now but I do get help with the premiums during the year. I know that if I change from F to G I can never go back to plan F, so the difference in premiums must be significant. I am 80, healthy, not a drinker or smoker. The only health issue is that I have afib. Thanks.
I’m retired AF. I have a zero premium Medicare advantage plan with TFL secondary. Haven’t had a prescription or medical bill to pay in years.
thats great to hear! Thanks for watching!
I retired from the Air National Guard after 22 years and 4 years AD. At 65 I bought a zero premium Medicare advantage plan. TFL was secondary. Did not use VA. I had a year of serious medical issues and hospitalization. Hundreds of thousands of dollars care and treatment. Bottom line. With the Medicare advantage plan and TFL secondary……zero out of pocket.!!!
Love this story! Thanks for sharing!
Well done, well presented.
Thank you kindly!

Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You’re welcome!
I use to work in the senior market in the early 90's. Times have changed and so had Medicare and the supplements for them. I see people on her bragging about their VA care. That's fine. But, not everyone gets 100% disability. Not everyone gets 50% disability. Some get none. I have had first hand experience in dealing with clowns who just wanted to waste my time and money when I was in the seniors market. Drove well over an hour to visit with a potential client. His buddies were with him. He just thought he was the smartest thing that every popped out of a women's body. His buddy thought it was funny too. He bragged about him getting his Medicare information from his momma. And he was just happy as a bug in a rug wasting the insurance agents time. Yuck yuck yuck. So after I left there I went across the street to the convince store. The clerk at the store asked me what I was doing across the street. I told him. He said, "I wished you had come in here before you went over there. I'd have told you he was just wanted to mess with you and waste your time. He and his buddies love to do that." Well, that's fine. And I'm sure with all that "info" his momma gave him, when something went south with his Medicare, he had no one to call. So listen to all the videos you have on RUclips if you are a vet and going on Medicare. Or if you are retired military or a disabled fellow vet. The people in D.C. change this stuff all the time. I've seen my fellow vets with disabilities get cut under Trump. One was a Nam vet with two tours there and big time PTSD. They cut him down to a thirty minute visit with a VA care giver once a year. This is the short version. And this was after our local congressmen, a good "Christian" conservatize Republican told the local vet round table that their benefits and converge would not be cut. It was. One thing you have to understand about insurance. Home, life, health, business and so on. Everyone is different. A "one size fits all" plan does not work for everyone. Your needs are different than my needs. I'm working on applying for disability. It is now early Oct 2023. I can't see anyone with the VA until Jan 20, 2024. And if I get disability I won't get it for maybe up to 18 months. If I am lucky. And again, what might work for your buddy from work, may not work for you and your personal circumstances.
My prostate issues are currently and effectively being treated by the VA. In my case there has never been a denial of coverage, never a maybe or lets wait and see. Options were articulated early and concisely and once my course of treatment was determined there was never any question about coverage. Not sure why this person you mentioned is having issues but it seems like a worst-case scenario. Things like this can and do happen often in the civilian world as well, for example; when my brother was diagnosed with leukemia a private insurer denied the only medication he responded well to as being experimental. The doctor would not discharge him from the hospital until the insurer agreed to continue with the life saving treatments. So, this is not a VA problem specifically as denial of treatment can just as easily and probably more often occur from a civilian insurer providing an Advantage plan. You have to remember insurance companies are for profit and the VA is non-profit. Right there that tells you something about the chance of denial of benefits. There are many veterans satisfied with VA healthcare and the constant drumbeat to sell advantage or supplement plans goes on with the cherry picking of certain situations such as was portrayed in this video.
We are glad that worked out for you. And you are correct about insurance companies being for profit. The one thing to remember is that the VA and Medicare are totally separate and one does not effect the other. If one denies, you will have the other as back up. You can use the VA or Medicare or both. Thanks for watching!
Why penalize if you decided not to take part B at 1st..???....there should be NO! penalty
@@NavCom209 Agreed 👊
@@Turning65SolutionsRonRayIt would be nice to compare va health care with regular Medicare as a option . I understand you sell advantage plans so no benefit for you but a veteran may loose our if regular Medicare maybe a better option
I am a military retiree enrolled in Medicare Part A and B, with Tri-care for life and am in the process of receiving a VA disability rating and due to my combat deployments have just filed for VA health coverage. I am curious if the VA medical coverage penalizes for income like Medicare does? Also how does the coverage vary due to disability?
I'm 65, retired AF and on Original Medicare with TFL. I'm also 30% VA disability rated. The VA's official policy for receiving healthcare (including prescription meds) is FREE in the specific disability area(s) you're rated and / or are 100% C&P. However, with the VA, the rules are a constantly moving target. You're subject to payment for medical services (as well as for meds), in the areas you're not rated and / or are 0%. If married, the VA uses combined household income (not per individual veteran), to determine cost for care. When I registered my wife, we had to provide income information. Interesting, before I signed her up, I was never subject to any income vetting and I was making 6+ figures. However, at the practical level, we've found that the actual cost for care is on a case-by-case basis. I've seen VA Primary Care doctors and Specialists and prescribed meds at "no cost" and in areas I wasn't rated. Likewise, my wife who is 0%, has received a wide variety of healthcare, prescribed multiple meds but never been billed. Here is the VA.gov link for income limits and protocols for VA healthcare. www.va.gov/health-care/income-limits/introduction
so nice to spend your life paying 20% for medicare only to find out it's going to cost you more. The government seems to have you locked into the bent over position with lifetime penalties
The Groper Boeberts! Octopus Boeberts
I am a veteran and to years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and the VA took care of mine.
I realize the is a year old; but as a Veteran on Social Security and 70+years old. I filed a10-10E Z. Granted I'm working on my disability. But still get all kinds of medical treatment through the V.A. Clinic, Plus 5 surgeries, from time of enrollment. At no cost to me,
This video does not address if there are income limits to any VA coverage?
