Thank you for sharing this lovely teaching experience in Bénin ! Back in August 2017 I visited a French friend, his Cameroonian wife and family in Douala, Cameroon (Western Africa) for two weeks. It was a life-changing experience for me as well. There was a little culture shock. My good friend had however prepared me well in advance for this trip. Of course, I needed several vaccinations for a tropical climate. I still keep in touch with the lovely people I had met over there. Allan Primeau, CVTA/QPAT
We should have joined the FAE when they went on unlimited strike. Legault clearly desires to break the unions and privatization public services. He is playing mind games with the public trying to pretend he is being reasonable. 1/4 of teachers last year were unqualified. 8000 teacher vacancies on day one of school. 50% of teachers in Quebec are quitting in five years. I have considered quitting teaching regularly throughout my career. This is a painful moment for many people. The common front should demand a signing bonus equivalent to the lost income from being on strike. The longer a January unlimited strike lasts the more we require. Legault must be in disbelief that there is an unlimited teacher strike happening. Look at the BC Teacher Contract that was just signed, they have a universal benefits system. Legault is flexible on money if teachers will be flexible or workloads... I don't believe anything he says but fight for a universal benefits package. Get dental, mental health services, and mental health days. 30% over 5 years? Not quite the 30% over one year the politicians gave themselves, but the CAQ can be "brave" again. The FAE has been carrying the weight of this strike and I feel we are betraying their dedication. The unions have not had this leverage, this is a battle to protect the public sector. I would suggest this is an existential crisis for what type of society Quebec will become.
Membership was well represented today in Outaouais too at the office of Mathieu Lévesque!
Do not invest billions in battery plant that you do not have electricity to charge. Invest money in education for future returns and health to keep workers working. Why granite curb on Henri Bourassa? Why $30000 raise for yourself?
I recommend young teachers consider New Brunswick or Ontario. Quebec is not the best province to be a teacher.
Being realistic i hooe, doesn't mean...sorry this is all we could get...pkease vote on this. We've lost a lot kf salary already and want it to mean something
Don’t give in. We are the ones holding the power. We only have to last one day longer than the government can make do without us!
Indexing with inflation was the demand and they offer below inflation. There is a massive shortage of frontline workers. There has never been a moment with this much leverage. I'm prepared for an indefinite strike.
🤞🏻
I hope it won't be same old hat as the last two negotiations, where you accept a half-baked offer and then present it to teachers. For goodness sake, and for once...stand by your principles.
Really enjoyed that converstation. Thanks Jan and Heidi. Wishing you both the best in your new and exciting adventures to come.
Loved Jan!!! She was my principal one year, replacing someone else. We need more leaders like Jan!
This is a wealth of excellent, practical and needed information! Thank you, for taking the time to put this out here!
This material is exceptional, simple yet on point and so life changing. Well worth the listen, for everyone!
I really appreciate the opportunity. Thank you for helping me get this information out to the people who need it.
Thank you for putting this information together!
I am so happy to see that PO has resumed for the 2023 year. Good luck to all of you who are participating. Having participated four times in Project Overseas I have to say it was the most exhilarating part of my teaching career in Ontario and New Brunswick. It will be no surprise to you that I have found volunteer work with the Formation, Nurture and Justice Team in The United Church of Canada in my retirement. PO instills and nurtures a lifelong commitment of service to others through a lens of social justice. It is life changing and the memories are vivid for me too, Wes! Thank you, CTF/FCE. You are doing great work!
I always enjoy listening to Heidi. In this presentation, she nailed the REAL issues in our profession in this message. Thanks for being our voice.
Im justin that must of took a long time
Nah they are still counting I know cuz I go to that school
Thank you so much for posting this! Very helpful.
Remove the abomination of masks on children you cowards. The science and data is clear kids aren't in danger nor are they vectors. In fact, they're more likely to get it from adults outside school settings. This is pure irresponsible, anti-science hysteria and it must stop. I'm appalled seeing all these poor kids in masks to soothe weak minded adults projecting their fears onto them for a virus with a damn 99.9x% survival rate and with a global mortality of .15% as per Dr. John Iaonnidis - one of the world's most cited scientists at Stanford - who has said all along this is in line with the flu. Wake up follow the actual science. REMOVE the masks which NEVER had any shred of evidence they work given the large body of evidence through RCT and meta-analysis reviews going back 100 years. This is an untenable and absurd measure to maintain at this point. Spare me your waving of flags and blowing of whistles whining about your work conditions and DO THE RIGHT THING AND STAND UP FOR THE CHILDREN.
Elaboration on what exactly Olivier has "proudly accomplished" would be nice to see.
As long as you don't misrepresent the numbers and make teachers believe the deal is better than it actually is....like.5 years ago
Thank you so much Olivier!
My 5 yr old and I were out there at LaSalle Jr. with the teachers. The call to online learning last minute was madness and we (and 90% of her class) boycotted the ZOOM that day. Great to hear there are strides forward.
Thank you for your support! Parents and teachers standing together is very powerful!
And I speak for a lot of teachers when I say...this union representation is a joke. "Speak louder"by acting like clowns and waving flags? Ohhhhhh the govt is shaking in their boots. Thanks for hanging us out to dry
Shows solidarity but also a hole in my wallet when the government saves funds from not paying us 5 days. How about a strike fund like other unions have?
please actually negotiate this time, instead of backdoor deals with the gov't, then turning around, fudging the numbers...basically getting nothing for teachers and students
Enough is enough!
There’s a typo in présidente
Merci!

Please strike! Great video! I'm not a teacher but I fully support this please reply to me if I can help spread the message in anyway.
She was an awesome art teacher! What a great video
Very catchy video, I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more views! Is there anything viewers can do to inform ourselves more on this matter?
Wow this is just wow!!! Good job for this message
Is there a French version you could post too?
As a teacher...my frustration has gone beyond the gov't. Going back to school during the lockdown is unacceptable and this union is WEAK. Up until now you've shown no backbone...please grow one. Represent us...stop twiddling your thumbs
shocking.
Hardest balancing act of our teaching lives...(2:40 - 2:55)...So TRUE. Work-Life balance has never been easy as a teacher. Like F Spence wrote, 'you are not alone in feeling this way'.
Are Quebec politicians paid on average as the rest of Canada?
Bravo Heidi and Julie✨
A lot of new teachers are VERY discouraged and turning to a plan B career...
Great video Andrew. Tell it like it is!
Jody, you are awesome!
Powerful. You are not alone in feeling this way.
Well done Andrew!
Very compelling video.
The hubris of these educators is so infuriating. If fluffy the pet isn't enough, then start your own family. Don't propagandize and brainwash other peoples children.
A very important message. Thank you.
The video is well done! Teacher’s struggle is very realistic!
This is great! We need more videos demonstrating is struggles QC teachers face.
