Pressing the fx button in the equalizers UI actualy opens the settings page for the Android OS's build in systen equalizer, If the device is equipped with one. If you plan on using any 3rd party equalizer like aimp's you want to turn off any other modifications to the sound output like the system eq or DSP and ailow the audio to pass through unchanged and let aimp handle any changes or modifications to the audio output. So you need to leave it toggle off and don't toggle it on. If you wish to boost any frequency(s) you need to raise the ceiling and and give the preamp some headspace room in order to prevent distortion and clipping. This is done by taking the highest value of the frequency most changed and adding more negative decibels in the preamp rhab the decibel amount boosted. For example if we wanted to boost the bass frequencies we would start at around frequency 250 and nove the slider so the value reads +0.5 and the same thing with sliders for 175, 125, all the way down to the lowest frequenxy your speaker or headphones range it is able to play, then set the preamp to at least -0.5 so the modiffied freqencies don't exceed the cieling and wont scratch, pop and distort. Using the auto setting in the aimp equalizer will select a best guess recommendation at which preset profile to use ONLY IF THE INFORMATION IS PRESENT IN THE FILE'S TAG, otherwise the automatic option does nothing.
