Grand Canyon Timelapse
On a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon, I was setting up camp on my last night at Hermit Camp and noticed the moving clouds and thought it might make a nice a timelapse. So I threw my camera on the tripod and started it up.

Mt. Wrightson, Arizona Hike
Просмотров 532 года назад
Went for a hike up to the summit of Mt. Wrightson June 25, 2022. My go-to hike in the summer since it starts at 5,400 which means I'm baking less at the end of the hike. The summit is at 9,400 ft. (2,900 m.) The round trip is 11 miles with 4,000 ft. (1,219 m) of elevation gain. There's a couple different routes up to the summit from the Madera Cyn. trailhead. I took the shortest, staying on the...

My son and I backpacked from Wire Pass Trailhead down to Lees Ferry. This video is the Buckskin Gulch portion. The next video will be of the Paria Canyon portion. We were dropped off at the Wire Pass Trailhead by the Paria Outpost shuttle company who picked us up at Lees Ferry. We hiked in about 3.5 miles the afternoon of the first day and spent the night in Buckskin in a "wide" area about 5 ft...

This video documents the hike Aidan and I took in the Grand Canyon. We started at the S. Kaibab Trailhead and headed down the S. Kaibab Trail to the Tonto Trail. We took the Tonto Trail over to the Bright Angel Trail which we took back up to the rim. The maps have it at 13 miles, the GPS at 15, I'll let you choose which one you want to believe. The elevation change from the rim to the Tonto Tra...
North Cascades National Park, Backpacking from Tricouni Camp to Thunder Basin Camp

Hello everyone. This video documents our day backpacking in North Cascades National Park, from Tricouni Camp to Thunder Basin Camp. The hike was pretty tough, and longer (10.3 per the Garmin) than we had it mapped at. Also beware that at the Thunder Basin Horse camp after you cross Thunder Creek, there's a sign that says 3/4 of a mile to Thunder Basin people camp. I'm guessing it was twice that...

Hello everyone, this video documents day 1 of our 5 day, 44 mile backpacking trip from Thunder Creek TH up and over Park Creek Pass and then up and over Cascade Pass. Had a great time and highly recommend it. On this first day we had a pretty leisurely day from Thunder Creek Trailhead to Tricouni Camp. It's 7.7 miles with a gradual gain of 1200 feet. It's mostly forest hiking with a nice trail ...

Hello everyone, this video documents my day backpacking from Vista Pass to Island Lake. The GPS recorded it at 10.5 miles with 2100 feet of elevation gained and 1950 feet lost. I didn't actually stay at Island Lake but a smaller lake about a half mile west of it right off the CDT/Highline trail. To get from A to B I took the Shannon Pass Trail out of Vista Pass up over Shannon Pass until it hoo...

My original plan was to stop at Three Forks and then hike to Island Lake the next day. I've watched my fair share of hiking videos - especially The Winds. Your concise, fantastic, no nonsense editing, and I don't generally like the music as loud as you mixed it, captured the essence of the hike. Brings me back to my time there, albeit never made it to Vista Pass, just Three Forks and did the Slide Lake & Clear Lake hikes from campsite, both outstanding day trips. Plan to loop Gannet from Green Lakes via High Line some day with off trail lake explorations down the road. Thank you kindly. Super PS We're doing Island Lake from Pole Creek TH next week. Driving in from MN, with plenty of sightseeing along the way. The Winds are captivating and deserve the attention for sure. Someday folks will also realize how the even more beautifully intimidating, larger in area, and less hiked Absarokas continue to be less traveled (Yellowstone, Tetons, Winds n Beartooths draw the attention away) - maybe a good thing for now.

My pleasure! September is definitely the time to go I think. We did it mid summer and found it a little warm for us. I would also research as much as possible the route down from Sawtooth. Soft sand most of the way down and I can’t imagine we took the optimal route. I think we might not have traversed far enough before starting the decent in earnest. The way we went was pretty sketchy, at least for us. An Incredible trip that we still talk about. Have fun!
