I'm here after watching them live performance at Voices of the World concert. Grabe sobrang linis tlga! The best chorale group yesterday. Fan girl na ako. 😄
The Gypsy song, op 55, performed by Ms. Anna Migallos was outstanding. Her voice is so strong that it gives me chills when I hear it.
Denise Huang, who plays violin, and Mariel Ilusorio, who plays piano, express their excellent chemistry and collaboration in this lovely concert.
Ms. Mariel's appreciation and emphasis on the beauty of classical music in an era where music is louder and more powerful inspired me.
Anna Migallos’s performance of Song to the Moon from Dvořák's Rusalka, accompanied by Mariel Ilusorio on piano, is truly captivating. Migallos’s powerful voice shines throughout, beautifully conveying the emotional depth of the piece, while Ilusorio's piano accompaniment complements her perfectly. A stellar performance that highlights Migallos's incredible talent and artistry.
Mariel Ilusorio and Denise Huang deliver a flawless performance of Sonatina in G Major for Violin and Piano, showcasing their remarkable musical synergy. Their seamless collaboration creates a perfect harmony, with each note reflecting their skill and deep connection to the music. A beautifully balanced and captivating rendition.
The soprano’s rich voice blending beautifully with the piano's delicate accompaniment. The expressive interpretation captures the folk-inspired charm and heartfelt emotions of the piece. A truly captivating performance that brings Dvořák’s musical storytelling to life.
What an enchanting performance! Blending piano and violin with exquisite sensitivity. Their seamless interplay brings out the piece’s lyrical beauty and emotional depth. A truly captivating interpretation that lingers in the heart.
The heartfelt rendition of Dvořák's Gypsy Songs, Op. 55, where the soprano's emotive expression beautifully intertwines with the piano's rich accompaniment. Their collaboration captures the passion and spirit of the music with remarkable depth. A truly moving performance that resonates deeply with the audience.
They delivered a captivating rendition of Dvořák's Humoresques, Op. 101, blending piano and violin with perfect harmony. Their interplay is seamless, bringing out the charm, wit, and elegance of the piece. A delightful performance that showcases their exceptional musicianship and synergy.
Mariel Ilusorio's performance of Dvořák's Twilight Way is a masterful display of artistry and technical finesse. She brings out the piece’s lyrical beauty and emotional depth with clarity and grace, captivating the listener. A truly delightful interpretation that highlights her exceptional talent.
this tribute concert for Antonín Dvořák was a beautiful celebration of his timeless music. The performers brought his compositions to life with great skill and emotion.
Music has always been a source of inspiration for me, it guides me when I study, it helps me feel whole when I am alone, and it makes me feel seen when I feel invisible. Music that conveys emotions without lyrics are the most powerful forms of music for me. They give me a sense of imagination while listening to various notes and tones without words. “Twilight way” made me feel ethereal and somehow it made me feel that my life is not just mine, there is a vast world out there waiting to be seen and explored. It transported me to places I have never been to before. Its various tone shifts and different climaxes made me feel that I was being transported from 1 place to another, experiencing different cultures and emotions of people around the world. “Humoreske” was a piece that transported me to a serene valley filled with beds of flowers and blades of grass as far as the eye can see. It was a calming experience that made me realize that the world I was living in now is not all that bad, it is a world of peace and beauty even if there are challenges in our way, the feeling of peace and serenity will always find a way back to those who seek it. The soft tones with a sudden part of excitement and adventure made me see that life is a journey, it has hills and plains, it has ups and downs, and most importantly it is a road to growth. “Gypsy songs” strangely showed me a view into what it feels to love, not just the surface level of love but the love that is cultivated through time and companionship. It made me see that loving is not just about romantic feelings, it is also about the familial ties that love can give. Love here in this song is portrayed as a love from a family member, but I also believe that this type of love can be seen in our companions outside of our family. These compositions reminded me that I am a being of love and I should not reject the love people give to me, platonically or romantically. “Romance”, like in “Gypsy songs”, gave me a sense of love, but not just loving but also losing. It showed me the grief that comes from loving deeply. It showed me that to love is to lose and the greatest heartbreak one can experience is loving another with more affection and admiration you give to yourself. The song had many parts and for me it symbolized the grieving process, it is not linear. It has its high moments but it also has its lows and its stable stages where it feels as if you have moved on. Loving and grieving over someone you love are beautiful things that help shape who you are. “In folk tone” specifically the first song gave me a sense of letting go, putting something to rest, and lulling something into the shadows. It makes sense that it made me feel this way because it was originally a lullaby, but it also gave me the sense of letting go, it showed that the art of giving trust and leaving the rest to faith was a natural part of growth and life. The 2nd part of “in folk tone” gave a sense of completeness. It made me feel the beauty of being fulfilled in life, the stability of being happy and the warmth of being in love. It showed me that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. The 3rd piece was a melancholic one. It opened my eyes to the truth that life will never be like what we see in the movies, there will always be sadness in happiness , and there will always be darkness in light. But it also made me feel hopeful because without light there would be no darkness and without sadness we will never truly feel what it means to be truly happy, there 2 things are one and the same, they are yin and yang. The 4th piece was an outstanding one that makes us feel the beauty of companionship. To be whole is to find people to share your wholeness with. It shows us that we are never alone, we can always count on other people to help us with challenges we can't solve alone. “Sonatina” was an exhilarating piece that was like an adventure, a story, and a letter all at the same time. It was a complex mix of emotions that showed excitement, curiosity, amusement, and fear all at the same time. It was a long piece telling different stories to different people, showing them that this is where the author is now, showing them that he has made it. The pieces were filled with so many emotions that it was hard to keep track of what was happening in the current timeline, but it was what made it so good. The real world is complex and everything that happens to you and to the environment around you will always be left to chance, there is no telling what will happen next, or what you will feel next. These stories showed me that the world is a scary place, it is full of uncertainties and threats in every corner. But it taught me that all these fears are overshadowed by the beauty of everything else, it showed me that fear will hold me back from truly appreciating the beauty of the world around me. It led me to believe that I too can one day share the stories of my adventures, my life, with the people around me whom I love and care for the most. “Song to the moon” was yet another piece that was yearning for love. It conveyed emotions that were truly from the heart. The beauty in this piece lies in the uncertainty of the characters and their fears which were being fought back by their emotions and deep love for something. It was a compelling piece telling the listener to trust themselves and their emotions, to take that leap that is so easily taken. It was a piece that showed me it was better to take the first step with the risk of falling but with the chance of moving up instead of standing still and achieving nothing while lying in wait. The various music pieces I listened to were beautiful pieces of art that told the story of life. It showed the lessons that only experience could teach you. It made me realize that if I want to be able to tell stories like these, I should go out there and experience life itself on my own and fabricate beautiful letters, stories, and melodies in my mind to tell to the future generation. All of these were my own interpretation which made the pieces more beautiful because so much information can be inferred from notes and melodies. It may not be precisely what the author wanted to convey but that is the beauty in art, the chaos of thoughts and the amalgamation of sounds can be a serene and clear experience in each and every single person’s head who processes each and every sound in their own terms and emotions.
after watching the video, the FCA’s Tribute to Antonín Dvořák helped me appreciate classical music more. As the performace especially the musicians Miss Mariel, Miss Denise and Soprano Anna, brought Dvořák’s timeless compositions to life and also captivated the audiences.
Performance of Mariel Ilusoro, Denise Huang, and Anna Migallos made the FCA’s tribute to Antonin Dvořák as a meaningful and grand celebration of his immortal music. Rigorous Mexicans can pride themselves on Mariel’s remarkably polished piano performance at the beginning of the show which was melodious and magnificent. Despite the apparent nationalism in Dvořák compositions the audience cheered and applauded - showing approval of the timeless compositions.
The FCA put on a beautiful show in honour of Antonín Dvořák's 180th birthday. The show showed how great the artist was and how versatile his music was. His art changed for each show, which is why it's still important today. The first performance, which was Mariel Ilusorio playing the piece by herself on the piano, set a mood of reflection. Her interpretation of Dvořák's lyrical lines brought out the Romantic side of the composer and made me think of how beautiful the Czech scenery is. The audience was immediately drawn into Dvořák's world by the perfect beginning. Denise Huang's violin playing stood out because it was both warm and technically perfect. Some of Dvořák's pieces, like the "Humoresque," had rich, folk-inspired tunes that were both nostalgic and happy. Huang's emotional performance really showed how Dvořák could combine complex and simple ideas. "Songs My Mother Taught Me," sung by soprano Anna Migallos, added a lot of emotion to the show. Her voice was clear and soft, and it made people think of how timeless Dvořák's vocal works are. Dvořák loved chamber music, and the pieces where the players worked together showed this. Their working together showed the sense of community that was in his music, especially in the Slavonic Dances, which were full of life and happiness. Every performance praised Dvořák's unique ability to combine musical themes from his Czech background with those that everyone can relate to. I came away from the experience wanting to learn more about his work and thinking about how artistic styles like his can be found in different places and times. Additionally, it supported the idea that music is a powerful way to tell stories and keep ethnic traditions alive.
I observed seven performances of FCA's Tribute to Antonin Dvorak, which featured pianist Mariel Ilusorio, violinist Denise Huang, and singer Anna Migallos. Ilusorio's piano was expressive, Huang's violin playing was outstanding, and Migallos' vocals expressed intense passion. The evening beautifully presented Dvorak's work, leaving me with a deeper respect for both his music and the performers' abilities.
The FCA’s Tribute to Antonin Dvořák’s 180th birthday was a deeply moving celebration of his music’s enduring beauty. Pianist Mariel Ilusorio’s delicate touch in "Humoresque" brought joy and warmth, while violinist Denise Huang’s heartfelt rendition of "Songs My Mother Taught Me" resonated with tender nostalgia. Soprano Anna Migallos’s soul-stirring performance of "Rusalka’s Song to the Moon" was filled with longing, her voice soaring with emotion. Each performance showcased not only the technical brilliance of the musicians but also their deep connection to Dvořák’s music. It was a tribute that honored his legacy with grace, passion, and profound artistry.
Mariel Illusorio's performance was amazing. Her mastery of dynamics and emotional expression brought Dvorak's composition to life. She played with so much emotion and skill.

I liked this show dedicated to the 180th birthday of Antonin Dvorák very much. Mariel Ilusorio, Denise Huang, and Anna Migallos were the three great performers that gave the performance of the night at the Em and Lola play. All the musicians performing Dvorák’s music were technically well rehearsed, and yet they always provided in addition, the emotional side. Together with the piano, violin and voice instruments, the beautiful experience was clearly moving. It was a very nice ceremony into the life of Dvorak! The tribute to Czech musician Antonin Dvorak by the FCA was a fantastic occasion. Some of Dvorak's best-loved pieces were performed brilliantly by the gifted and enthusiastic musicians. Throughout the concert, there was a lot of cheering and applause, showing that the audience was enjoying the music. (para sa flj -_-)
An incredible tribute to Antonín Dvořák's 180th birthday! Mariel Ilusorio, Denise Huang, and Anna Migallos delivered stunning performances, capturing the heart of Dvořák's music. A true celebration of his timeless legacy
Anna Migallos' performance of Dvorak's famous "Songs My Mother Taught Me" was deeply reminiscent. The piece, known for its emotional depth, was rendered with Migallos' exquisite vocal control. Her voice resonated beautifully in the FEU Auditorium, and the delicate support from Ilusorio's piano playing added to the piece's haunting beauty. Migallos' interpretation was full of warmth and vulnerability, capturing the spirit of longing and nostalgia in Dvorak's Czech melodies.
Song to the Moon" from Rusalka is a breathtaking aria that showcases the ethereal beauty of Dvořák's music, perfectly captured by the enchanting voice of soprano Anna Migallos and the sensitive accompaniment of pianist Mariel Ilusorio. Their performance resonates with deep emotion, bringing out the yearning and tenderness that defines this operatic masterpiece.
The Sonatina in G Major for Violin and Piano, performed by pianist Mariel Ilusorio and violinist Denise Huang, is a delightful showcase of graceful melodies and harmonious interplay. Their performance captures the light-hearted elegance and emotional depth of the piece with precision and charm.
Antonín Dvořák's In Folk Tone, Op. 73 beautifully captures the charm and vitality of Czech folk music, blending heartfelt lyricism with lively rhythms. Antonín Dvořák's Romance in F Minor, Op. 11 is a stunningly lyrical piece that beautifully captures the interplay of tender emotion and rich Romantic expression. Pianist Mariel Ilusorio and violinist Denise Huang bring the work to life with an exquisite balance of technical finesse and heartfelt interpretation, creating a performance full of warmth and depth.
Dvořák's Gypsy Songs, Op. 55 masterfully captures the spirit of freedom and longing, brought to life through the evocative collaboration of pianist Mariel Ilusorio and soprano Anna Migallos. Their performance weaves together heartfelt emotion and technical brilliance, highlighting the rich lyricism and folk-inspired charm of this timeless work.
Dvořák's Humoresques, Op. 101 radiates charm and lyricism, and in this performance, pianist Mariel Ilusorio and violinist Denise Huang bring a delightful interplay of precision and emotion. Their artistry captures the playful yet deeply expressive spirit of these timeless miniatures, making it a truly enchanting rendition.
This is a great way to remind and show that music is more than just a good singer and a good instrument. Showcasing the uniqueness of craft and the connection between music, artist, and audience.
Insightful and thought-provoking! This series does a great job of breaking down complex topics into digestible pieces.
Migallos’ soprano voice beautifully captures the longing and tenderness of Rusalka’s plea, while Ilusorio’s delicate piano accompaniment provides a shimmering, moonlit backdrop.
such a wonderful performance, you can really feel her passion for music!
I found watching this tribute concert for the 180th birthday anniversary of Antonin Dvorak inspiring. It was amazing how Mariel Ilusorio narrated and performed Twilight Way, capturing the essence of Dvorak’s style. Through her playing, I had a sense of both peace and discomfort that only the night can provide, as Dvorak intended. Her rendition illustrated Dvorak’s deep-rooted patriotism in an artistic way; it was clear that such music has a rich attachment in terms of culture and history. This concert also increased my interest in classical music as well as Dvorak’s place in it. Again, thank you, FEU Center for the Arts, for bringing this to us.
Mariel Illusorio's portrayal and presentation of Dvorak's artwork was quite captivating. She played it, and I could feel the emotion immediately. Her ability to bring the music to life was amazing and captivating.
The two beautifully executed their renditions that clearly showed emotion and intent, as someone who's new to these types of plays it really captivates and inspires me to want to try getting into it
Anna Migallos’ voice brought a whole new level of depth to Dvorak's music. I love how she explained the story behind this piece because for me it has a really beautiful yet sad meaning behind it. Overall, her phrasing and control were extraordinary, making each song unforgettable. What a talented soprano!
Mariel Ilusorio and Denise Huang's collaboration during The Sonatina in G Major was so moving. Mariel’s delicate piano accompaniment complemented Denise's passionate violin so perfectly. Their synergy was amazing!
Anna Migallos’ soprano voice was truly mesmerizing! Her renditions were so powerful, and she effortlessly balanced strength with delicacy. Such an impressive singer! Kudos to Miss Ilusorio too for accompanying her with playing the piano!
Once again, Ms. Migallos voice is effortlessly superb as she goes through the story of a darker little mermaid. This piece, a storybook of in the form of music, is emotionally remarkable as it resonates with the people who hear it.
The synergy between Mariel Ilusorio and Denise Huang during The Romance in F Minor, Op. 11 was something else. Their partnership was passionate and so expressive. Also, I think the message behind this piece was so important and moving even for me, since it was about him losing his kids.
Personally, I think that this piece of Antonin Dvorak was just so magnificent. It somehow made me feel like I was experiencing falling in love. The performances are heartfelt and they feel alive.
Anna Migallos’ voice is so powerful and full of emotion! Her performances of Song to the Moon and Gypsy Songs were phenomenal. The way she hit those high notes effortlessly was impressive.
The combination of Ms. Mariel Ilusorio on piano and Ms. Denise Huang on violin for Humoresques, Op. 101 was mesmerizing. The nostalgic, yet serene sound they created was so moving for me.
I have great admiration to those who can play violin, If I can pick one instrument to learn violine would be it. Ms. Denise Huang and Ms. Ilusorio makes a sound that is comprehensive together yet have their own identities that stands out on their own. I love how the sound goes well without overpowering the other.
