I feel like adopting stray cats should be exclusive to veteran cat owners or those who really know how to take care of cats/read their personality and needs. This is because I have fed strays before (currently still am) and no matter how friendly you are and how much you feed them there will always be that part of them that will bite and scratch you if you pet them or look at them the wrong way. It is much easier to raise a kitten (preferably done weaning) than to take in a stray cat. A kitten you have raised and imprinted on will have a much easier time giving pills to, giving bathes and so much more. If you care about strays, but can't handle adopting them but also don't want to leave them out then you could try capturing it and putting it in a no kill shelter. Hopefully it will find it's forever home. You gotta be careful though because some cats can actually be somebody's pet who just let's it be an outdoor cat. I have seen people keep cats and claim it as theirs, but don't put a collar on it. I think it's to avoid paying the pet deposit and all the other responsibilities of owning a cat.

I wouldn't worry about the FIV much, I had 5 boys and two had FIV, the others never got it, and both that had it died from (different) cancer at age 15. One of my current two has FIV, actual brother's (turn 15 in a few weeks), I worry because he's gotten two respiratory infections in the past year or so, but both went away with antibiotics.

He won’t infect his brother with FIV unless it’s a deep bite.

I assume you’ve chatted with the vet by now, but that definitely looks like cat acne. It’s not from poor nutrition but can often be triggered by a contact allergy...generally plastic food and water bowls. Switch to ceramic bowls and wash them daily. Your vet can give you an anti bacterial scrub/wash for Mario’s chin that will clear up the acne. It’s a pretty common condition.

That’s a cat that knows he has been rescued and is really grateful. What stories he must have of trying to survive after someone abandoned him. He’s a chatty boy!

Asmr must have contracted FIV at birth. 90+% of FIV+ male cats were unaltered cats that ran the streets looking for a female to breed with. Most of them have ears and faces that bare battle scars. i had a parking lot foundling that was FIV+. In my case, I also had 4 other cats, two of which were very dominate boys that didn't allow other adult cats into the house. I good conscience, I couldn't allow them together and go from one FIV cat to three FIV cats, so he was segregated to his own room. I had him for 12 years. He had one bout of gingivitis, which Clavamox cleared up quickly. He also was a love of a cat. A big baby that wanted to be held. So pay attention to his breath. If it starts to smell, get him to the VET asap. FIV isn't a death sentence that it was once thought.

Check with the Doc, but pretty sure Maru has the blackheads. I didn't know cats could have acne but they do. Chloe had it. Switch from plastic to ceramic or metal bowls and wash the bowls in warm soapy water until the blackheads disappear. The other test to perform is take of the black specks, place them on a paper towel, drop some water on them. If it turns red it's a fleas litterbox on Maru's chin. Call the Doc and ask for the Revolution. It's the safest flea med we've used. Decimates the entire flea life cycle and it's been forever since we've used it because we have a resident bear, fox, redtail hawk, fosher cats, and owls, in the condo complex so our pets do not go outside. (Resident bear, fox, coyotes, red tail hawks, Fisher cats, and owls) But iirc, revolution also kills tapeworms which might explain the bottomless pit of a tum. You got beautiful boys, thanks for taking him in.

Get a cable tie and show it to him (as if it belongs to you). After he 'wants' it you can throw it around and it will help him burn some energy. You also need to claim back the space he now thinks he owns!

Yes I've been accompanied to the bathroom for over 15 yrs and the sink has to be on. Regarding your cat's chin, they get cat acne.
