Hiking North & South Weeks for the New England Hundred Highest!

For my 82 & 83 summits of the NEHH, Joe and I are hiking North & South Weeks, two lightly traveled peaks in the Northern White Mountains. Although these mountains don't boast the great views of some others, they no doubt have their own special & unique features that make them memorable.

Crossing Knife's Edge (KATAHDIN)
Просмотров 12121 день назад
Katahdin, Maine's tallest mountain is iconic for much of its breathtaking landscape. Perhaps the most iconic part of it however is Knife's Edge. I hiked Katahdin for the first time in 2017, but did not cross knife's edge on that hike. Ever since then I've wanted to come back and do it and I finally got that opportunity. Sit back and enjoy this relaxing video, watching me cross one of the most i...

Overnight on the Cutler Bold Coast (Full Trip)

Hello and welcome back to another New England adventure! I took the opportunity to go hike an iconic Maine trail that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I started off on a rainy/foggy evening, spent the night and fell asleep to the sound of the crashing waves, and woke up to a beautiful sunny day during which I hiked along the coastal trail. Thanks for watching, enjoy! WEBSITE: www.thomascayer....
Hiking Maine’s Bold Coast // Cinematic Highlights

Maine is full of beauty, but its coastline is a major part of what makes it special. For years I’ve wanted to backpack the Cutler Coast Trail, but never had the right opportunity to do it. With the melting snow in the high peaks, now seemed like the right time to head for the coast and check this trip off my list. My expectations for this hike were high, but the cliffs and geological features s...

Well done! We're going next week 😊
Have a great trip!
Loses points for being a ski mountain? 😢⛷️🚠🚡🎿
Yep! I like mountains to be wild and untouched by man 😜
Beautiful views of our hometown❤
I enjoyed the visit very much
So many trees along that ridgeline were leveled from microbursts. I wonder if that’s the reason for all the ferns.
That could be. It’s a very unique feature
Middle Redingtons looked awesome Thomas, quite a trek. Thanks for your sharing it all.🚲🥾.
Of course!
Thanks Thomas and Joe for another great virtual tour of the Weeks. See you soon at Central Church.❤ Jim
Thanks for watching!
Loved the trailhead transition 👋📷
Thanks 😎
If only I could draw, then maybe I could carve.
Print a picture and put it right on your piece! No drawing skills necessary 😎
It's been over 27 years since I hiked Mt Kataden, way to long . Great service at Central Church Sunday. Take good care 💞 the video Thomas.
Long time ago!
This was very well made! Music was perfect, shots were fire. The voiceover was very well thought out and sounded great! Dude. You need more followers.
Thanks Amanda, much appreciated!
It’s nice to revisit those peaks. I like this shorter style of video from you.
It sure is. Thanks for the feedback! I really enjoy making these kinds of videos, in both the filming and the editing.
Amazing experience
Absolutely!
Just a beautiful video❤
Thank you!
Great video and views 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job in capturing the views. It felt as if I was there. I, too, started on Katahdin. Thanks for taking us along.
My goal is to bring you right into the experience, so I’m glad I could do that for you! Katahdin is such an amazing mountain to hike
Only hiked Mt. Kataden once with my cousin Bill. You sure must have nerves of steel and an incredible balance ⚖️ skillet.Fireworks were great over the Kennebec last night in Augusta. Please be careful on all your journeys Thomas.❤ Jim
I never knew you did Katahdin! So fun
Your thumbnail is not attractive
Love from Pakistan
Up on Knife's Edge, looking around You better be careful that you don't fall down The rock is hard, like in days of yore At the top you'll climb no more
Well written, Seth 😄
Thanks for sharing!!!!Gods masterpiece from the sunrise to the mountains to the dirt filled holes, can’t believe it took me this long to watch this recap video
Better late than never! I’m so glad we had the opportunity to go on this trip
You crushed that chimney!!!
It was soo much fun!
That first person POV was sick!
Brings you right into the moment ⛰️
Stunning. I want to hike in Baxter soon! How was the process? Where did you stay and what trails did you take? Ty!
We camped in the park at the Bear Brook Tent sites. We went up Chimney Pond Trail to the Cathedral Trail to Baxter Peak then across Knife’s Edge and down Helon Taylor. The nice thing about camping in the park is your parking pass is also included.
Beautiful video 🙂
Thank you!!
@@thethomascayer 👍🙂
Very nice video. Everything is so green. I especially enjoyed the white trillium flowers, I have never seen so many all together!
Such a treat to walk into a whole meadow of flowers in the middle of the woods!
Great video 🙂👍
Thank you!

I love this hike! Little Concord Pond, Bald Mt., and Speckled are hidden gems.
Yeah, it’s such a good one!!
The black Nubbel #14 bushwhack looked rather wet Thomas. Keep your bike 🚲 locked. Will be back at Central soon.❤ Jim
It was wet indeed!
That…looked hard. And wet.
A challenge, no doubt!
Thanks for sharing this fun day and the beautiful sights! Love seeing you both in it. Excellent video.
It was so much fun!
Fun fact. There is another black nubble in Kingfield. It’s the closest two peaks with the same name I have ever come across.
Yeah I noticed that! Kind of funny that they are so close with the same name
beautiful
Thank you 🤩
Thanks Rachael and Thomas for the awesome tour of Vinalhaven Island. As always, enjoyed it very much. Miss seeing you at Central Church, and have been looking very hard for an alternative car or truck to get my freedom back. Take good care 💅 Jim
Thanks for watching. Good luck with the car!
Fun day. That’s a good sized island!
If you took a car you could definitely explore a lot more!
This is beautiful! I would love to see more Maine wildlife! 🐌
There’s plenty more to see!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍7
Thanks for watching!
Omg I love this! Thank you for sharing this little gem, I had never heard of it! Such a sweet video!
Glad you liked it! More videos like this to come!
So beautiful! Great commentary and scenery.
Thank you!
Great job Thomas on the Redingtons . Always amazes me how you are able to endure such long trex with such willpower and enthusiasm. My cancer and meds have limited my hiking 🥾 and biking 🚲 abilities a great deal. Please keep on keeping on and stay safe and inspired your self. Take good care,❤ Jim
Thanks, I sure will!
I love this area! I did the Crockers and Redington last year early winter. The herd path to Redington was my first bushwhack and it was really fun! I used someones old track on AllTrails as my navigation. What are you using to navigate when you’re out on these unmarked trails? Thanks for the video!
Mainly I use all trails. It’s so nice that you can see exactly where you are and what direction you are facing. I just create my own route and then I’ll go with that
@@thethomascayer Is the washout on CVR worse than last year? I got my Forester down it to the yellow gate last year but was worried the winter washed out more of the road…?
I’m not sure, I hadn’t been there since ‘21. There was a deep washout at a culvert that would be impossible to drive over, however there is just enough room to the ride of it to scoot around it
Awesome video! ✌️
Thanks so much!
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing. 👍5
Thanks again!
Nice views! It seemed pretty thick in those trees at times. Mileage and gain on this one? Were there markers, or tape?
Yeah the views were awesome. There were definitely some thick spots but overall the herd path was pretty open. There’s just a small cairn at the start of the herd path and a couple pieces of flagging tape, not much to go on. The best indicator was to just follow the path worn in to the ground. It was trickier in some of the more open areas but pretty easy otherwise!
👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic capture. Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you. A wonder to witness
Indeed, a very Maine coastal vibe in this one. Aren't too many places on the east coast to get that kind of solitude right along the shore.
Yes, and I was very lucky to get to enjoy it by myself. Once summer hits it’ll be hoppin’!
Loved the video. What type of tent do you have? Looking for a light-ish tent for hiking. Thanks!
Thanks! I have an Alps Mountaineering 1 person. It’s not super light as backpacking tents go (4+ lbs) but I like it and it’s budget friendly!
What the… amazing! Beyond incredible job!!! Beautiful!!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!! 😁
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. 👍 2
Thanks for watching!
That sunrise / orchestral music combo was breathtaking 😯
Thank you, they definitely complement each other 😊
