Joy Buzzer | Power Popaholic
It was great to meet Joy Buzzer’s lead songwriter Jed Becker and bassist KG Noble before the IPO in NYC. We chat about the band origins, and some of my favorite songs from the debut album “Pleased to Meet You” - see the album review here: www.powerpopaholic.com/2024/11/joy-buzzer-and-willie-dowling.html

Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) | The Power Popaholic Interview
Просмотров 1303 месяца назад
I enjoyed chatting with Steven McDonald, a member of Redd Kross. We talk about the new self-titled album, and how he developed a thick skin on stage, he's been playing since age 11 after all. Plus we touch on band dynamics with his brother Jeff, The Beatles, and more. Read the album review here: www.powerpopaholic.com/2024/07/redd-kross-and-sparklejets-uk.html
Peter Holsapple | The Power Popaholic Interview
Просмотров 1535 месяцев назад
I had an extended interview with Peter Holsapple ( The dB's, REM, Continental Drifters, etc.) about the newly remastered dB's album "Stands for Decibels." We get into a lot of subjects; from his time with The dB's. And we answer these questions: Will "Repercussion," the second dB's LP, be remastered too? Will the rest of the catalog get remastered? Is a new solo album coming? What really happen...
Ryan Allen (Extra Arms) | The Power Popaholic Interview
Просмотров 596 месяцев назад
I've been following Ryan Allen his entire career, and he's one of the best young musical artists we have today. His brand of punk-infused power pop is on full display with his new Extra Arms album, "Radar." We chat about the new album and his band's various incarnations. The Cyrkle | The Power Popaholic Interview
Просмотров 2316 месяцев назад
My longest interview, and for good reason. Don Dannemann of the band The Cyrkle has a great history and they are still playing! Learn the story directly from Don of how they got signed as the only American band with Beatles manager Brian Epstein. What was it like on tour with The Beatles! The new album "Revival" is out now. My review is at: www.powerpopaholic.com/2024/05/aerial-and-the-cyrkle.html
Richard Davies | The Power Popaholic Interview
Просмотров 877 месяцев назад
What an interesting chat I had with Richard Davies, Australian-born singer/songwriter who started with The Moles and later joined multi-instrumentalist Eric Matthews to form the duo Cardinal. We drop a lot of names (Robert Pollard, Wayne Coyne, Ray Davies), and he even asks me a question. He's dropped out of a music career, and came back. He will be touring with Guided By Voices this summer. Ve...

Mike Viola Meet-n-Greet and Acoustic Performance
Просмотров 2289 месяцев назад
I was thrilled to meet with Mike Viola when playing at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY . We did a very quick "meet and greet," and then he played hits from all over his catalog. Plus, I have a new song performance, "She's A Blur," from his upcoming album.
Flying Underground | The Power Popaholic Interview

Sometimes I find a band that I missed the year before, but it had a great album that made me take notice. Ohio-based Flying Underground is such a band. I speak to the main songwriter/guitarist, Brian Lovely, and the lead singer, Kelly McCracken. We talk about a few songs on the self-titled album and more. Hope we'll see this album on vinyl as well!
Will be checking all these out. Rainbow Child sounds immediately superb.
So cool to hear these guys talk. I was a little disappointed that they weren’t asked about DMJ3 and Eleven Blue Men. Maybe it was off limits, but I’m just glad people remember this great music
These boys are the übermensch of music.
I think I just found my perfect channel. Thanks!
Immensely talented guy.....and appears to be a wonderful person as well. Thanks so much for this interview!
FAB!!
Wonderful interview....Back then, we were the Numbers and played with Redd Kross at the Music Machine....Good to see them still doing it....
Fine interview! Good insight about the Kinks’ explosive, brothers dynamic. Observing them fight over a so-called, trivial matter was more like seeing each final straw of the their tense dynamic that built up over their lifetimes. And being second banana to the songwriter/genius, writing few or no songs album after album…. Luckily, both brothers write songs in Redd Kross. Though being the younger brother to a extremely verbal and conceptual band leader must been the fuel of intense Davies-level screaming disagreements.
Need to do more research with Bobby Burnett he can explain in person what happened in England cause Mike went into the next studio and stole a guitar and almost got arrested so since Mike billy and my dad Lester are dead his word is gospel?
The Lemon Twigs' album does it for me. It's even better than their newest album.
This is one of the coolest interviews from anyone from that era.....Peace and Love, Terry Tutor
As far as “spot the influences”- Live In Favor of Tomorrow is straight up The Move.
Great to hear Thomas. Good to hear he's been working recently with both Andy Partridge and Neil Hannon. Stay well Thomas....your music is great
great music but i do have one piece of advice! marry an angel.
What a nice way to wake up this morning as this lovely interview popped up on my phone! Thomas makes some of the most amazingly beautiful music. ever. Everyone should be listening or you are truly missing out. Thanks for putting this out. Hello from Chicago Thomas! ❤️
I just discovered this channel, and whenever I read a comment saying "Music today sucks. What happened to melodies snd harmonies?", I'll send them here.
Good interview with one of my all time favourite musicians. Thank you for discussing the 'Hymns" album which is seriously underrated . Kal is a terrific track
WTWISH
i'm sorry but it's so embarrassing that you thought Sean produced the whole album. and thought that's why the album sounded more "grounded". you not only discredited their work prior and their work on this album - you were also wrong. do your research popaholic. lmao.
Sorry about that. I misread the liner notes and shit happens.
chill out, man
@@oc4686 sorry I got a little heated. But I thought it was widely known that they produce themselves. And disregarding that and critiquing Go To School I thought was disrespectful to such super talented young producers & songwriters. these guys are beyond skillful and should be praised and acknowledged for their great work.
My all time fave band.
Picking up the new album tomorrow. So excited to hear it!
When most kids were playing little league they were playing Broadway and film.
This interviewer sucks.
Besides this being their best record ever (Ma be tied with their last release) you made these two talk hockey at the end. Perfect! What a band! What a record! What a live show! Whatta whatta!
Vote Twigs 2024
Sorry for the hair scratching lol - I get paranoid after I come in from the garden and think any weird thing I feel is a tick lol
I highly respect the "He's the DJ and I'm the Rapper" LP in the background. Paul is my favourite Male vocalist in Non-Hip-Hop music, and it's really inspiring to see him live in Japan, as I have the same ambition.
Really beautiful song….
The song he performed is actually called Bonanza! Super beautiful track. Thanks for sharing
Wow. What an absolutely beautiful song. Looking forward to the new album.
'PromoSM' 😑
This is Leslie Bohem who used my registered script MAGMA TOWN and I suspect illegally wrote the script for the film DANTE'S PEAK. I found him and called him on the phone 26 years ago and asked him from whom he took the script to write the script for that film, - he started laughing madly and hysterically screaming and asking "who is that", - I realized that thought he was being pranked by an acquaintance (because everyone already knew about it, because I informed UNIVERSAL and others about it), and finally when I introduced myself and told him that I was the screenwriter of MAGMA TOWN and found out what he had done, he stopped is a relationship and since then he has been hiding from me all the time. I doubt: - that he is not a screenwriter, - he learned something from his father Endre, - that everything he wrote was with the use of other people's writings or ideas, - DISASTER, - so I criticized him, because of everything, I contacted more media outlets in the USA and worldwide, and if you are interested in contacting me, - all film reporters from DEADLINE and VARIETY magazines have my email address.
So talented 👏 😊
Great interview, found out about the album thanks to your blog, absolutely beautiful.
In my profession, I am an animator and illustrator. I can't imagine being a singer besides that, let alone a talented one. Massive respect for this woman!
Great interview, Glen and Bob! I did not know that you played the Schermerhorn in Nashville. I visited there shortly after the theater was built for the Nashville Symphony. At that time, not so many years ago, it was the most perfectly acoustic building in the world! I'd love to see a Weeklings live record from there! I really dug this interview, guys! Thanks!

Singer? He wrote the book
Great interview I love gleaming spires music
I first heard these guys from the porno devil in miss jones 3, Christian girl problem was main song….they are great!
Its a great song. Another good song from that movie is Brain Button
Thanks, Aaron! Looks like the link to the IPO playlist in your description doesn’t work - I think this one should: ruclips.net/p/PLXVqejLaslkk0IKjYXjjV1gqbRrOLWKj9&si=tdx1yj2ycljLf6I9
Les and David never left Sparks after the 'In Outer Space' album. They stayed for a further two albums. I'm suprised the boys didn't correct you on that.
I love the discography from Paris in April to Triggers. I still need to spend more time with In Cinerama.
Weird that dude really leans into saying Yacht Rock but looking at their setlists, most of the songs aren't yacht rock. I get that you have to play popular stuff and keep changing it up, but bro quit acting like you're a yacht rock expert while showing you have very little knowledge of what it actually is. But i would probably go a show if i got the chance.
WTF is Yacht Rock??? the kind of music rich people hire a band to play on their yacht??? Haahaahah!
Eric is a BAMF <3
Oh man loved hearing from Marley from The Midnight Callers! Fab interview, just wish it was longer! The band just released the album of 2023 in my opinion! Cheers Matt
Fantastic Album! Loved the interview.
