Minter's Mikado 690 Heli 2nd Test Hover Flight
Located at Santa Fe Dam Radio Control Modelers Flying Field, at the West Side Heli Pad, Minter is getting his Heli Tached by Bo using a Optical Tachometer to verify the rotor head speeds for Flight Mode Normal and Flight Mode 1. He is liking his new heli very much as it is noticeably smoother and responsive. Phil is with us on the test flight too.

No puffing, IR stays low, and have consistently performed very well. They are rated for 50C burst (90 amps) and I'm hitting 80C and greater (150-170 amps) with no issues every single time I fly this plane, which has been at least 100 times or more.

For anyone curious the setup is as follows: -HobbyKing Reverb with carbon fiber added to the wing saddle and fuse -Mega Motors 2000kV 16/35/1.5SE direct drive (insanely good motor, VERY high limits. Getting over 14W/g here.) -Zippy Flightmax 4S 1800 40C -Castle 100 Edge Lite -RFM 10x6 carbon fiber folding prop and 36mm spinner -Hitec HS-5065mg servos all the way around -Pulls ~150+ amps at times and max of around 2200W+. Approximately 22,000RPM, maybe more or less. These Zippy batteries are rated for 40C continuous, 50C burst while I'm getting 80C-90C burst out of them (150-170 amps.) Crazy value for packs that haven't been swelling or puffing and continue to maintain low internal resistance and great power.

No conversion other than cutting the motor shaft shorter was needed and installing a 6mm set screw prop adapter on it. We got the stuff from Esprit Models. The motor mount and ESC is from them also. ESCs is the JETI Spin PRO 160. It turns a APC 40 pylon prop, 8.8x9.75, LP88975 at ~19,800rpm on the ground drawing ~130 amps from the Revolectrix 427 Blend 3000mah 70c 6s LIPO.
