thank you... no that is a fence building... you can build such scenarios using the scenario editor that you can find in the game itself... as for the movements, I had a large map and put the soldiers on patrol from one end to the other (using the trees just off screen to get them to walk on the road) and the trade cart is trading between my market and player 2's market.

@@games_of_ambience Clever way to do it! I remember playing around with triggers in scenario creator on Age of Kings, but that becomes a fiddly science. (My AoE isometric RPG never quite made it. 😅)

Staying up all night to game was like entering a different world as a kid. Such a freeing and adventurous feeling.

so true... i really love this graphics style... probably its coz i grew up with it, but the 3D visuals of AoE3 and AoM dont hit the same way

yes i did it through the scenario editor... could you explain what openage is? I googled it and it did not turn up anything obvious

​@@games_of_ambience It's a reimplementation of the game that allows modification. I reckon it could render your scenario, which it might then be possible to display as a desktop background. Package all this up and in such a way that openage runs with your scenario on startup (with sound disabled and maybe disallowing interaction), and you've got a dynamic AoE wallpaper faithful to the original game. Disclaimer: Openage requires images from the original game, so users would have to have the original game installed to be able to use this.

no this is the official expansion pack for medieval 2 total war... it is called medieval 2 total war Kingdoms... basically you had 4 new campaigns (britannia, teunotic, crusades and americas)... see this link for details: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_II:_Total_War:_Kingdoms

dunno to be honest... i think with AoE 2 they hit the nail right on the head and by keeping it alive and thriving i think is the best bet... although i agree about the art style... something about the 3D art that does not click with me... I enjoyed AoM and AoE3 when i was a kid... but the AoE2 art style is unmatched for me.

i believe they did the best of both worlds... coz in the settings you can select if you want to have the original or the DE soundtrack

i had the same experience growing up... first played with music with DE... felt so weird to have the music going whilst i played the old campaigns but eventually i got to a point where i cant imagine playing without it.

I had the exact same copy! In fact i had no idea that AoE had a soundtrack at all to be honest until years later... I still remember how odd it felt to have the game with the soundtrack on and spent a long time playing without the music... I then made a conacious effort with DE to play with the soundtrack and have never looked back ever since.

Which do you prefer? Stronghold or Crusader?

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful memory.... yes this game really is special and many people, myself included, have it in a special place in our hearts and minds... the campaigns are the best part for me too... they kick started my passion for history together with the Total War franchise and the original CoD games.... i am planning to soon start doing something to help people remember and understand better the campaigns of AoE... really looking forward to it.

you are so welcome... thank you for doing the timestamps, i know it can be a lot of work... yes, the memories... going through the soundtracks of the games i have uploaded has really taken me back... Syphon Filter (1-3) have a real special place in my heart... my favourite is the PharCom and the Monastery Laboratories levels of the first game... i recently discovered an online emulator that has the 3 games available to play (just make sure you have a good pop-up blocker for the ads) retrogames.onl/
