Sidemount Open Circuit Fun Dive at the Shores
Great video
Amazing Guy!
Cool video
Love this. I’ve been wanting to set mine up to use in back mount, and trying to figure out how best to mount the scrubbers to the BCD and route everything. Do you have pics of how they mounted up, and any pics of how the scrubbers rested when in water?
Awesome! We also dive Yukon sometimes (double one) with kids spirit on Marissa boat. But been busy lately haven’t gone to SD for a while! Hope to see you there sometime
Looking forward to getting back at it once my ankle is better
Heal quick my friend!
Awesome! Unique footage
Interesting, how hard is it to get your gear
Its a good 50-80 yards to walk to the water. You can stop, take a break and keep going
So cool
Yes, no more storms so I can finish my ccr training.
Nice yeah git that ccr certificate
@@AllenStory I am trying, maybe the third time to San Diego will be the charm. The surge and waves have been bad
Weird year for sure. I would wait 4 more weeks to make sure the weather will be good
@@cadiveguy yeah mid June is my next crack at passing off ccr.
Cave diving
Cave diving
Take that re breather and git into cave diving
Yeah you have had bad storms. My first attempt to take my ccr class was beginning of January. Only got one day of open water done. The 2nd attempt was first weekend in April, the surge canceled that one. Now the next time i hope in June I can finish my class.
Surf is picking up again Sunday. This has been a terrible year for diving so far. I'm hoping things begin to mellow up soon.
There are wings with different lift capacities for a reason. If you needed 60lbs of lift for twins, they wouldn't make 45lbs wings. Same is true for single backmount and sidemount setups. I went with a 40lbs single wing because of the weird pricing at my dive store. I wanted the PSD coating that Apeks offers, and the tiny price differences steered me towards the 40lbs. Webbing is webbing. You don't need the branding. Same goes for backplates (except for XDeep). Adjustable harnesses are a godsent if you're using them with different types of exposure suits. Having to adjust a single piece of webbing every time you switch from a rashguard to a 3mm to a 5mm to a drysuit is an absolute pain in the backside.
What are the cam bands attached to on the Katana?
awesome video of your dive
Thank you 👍
Hi there, what u use to connect Tanks with the manifold? The manifold got same connections live first stages?
You Use QC6 quick connectors to connect your tanks to your manifold.
Looks like my dive early Jan on the Yukon.
Let’s see who can find the most on a single dive 😉
Fun dive! Can’t wait to see your upcoming 360 footage!
That looks like Open Circuit, what happened? :-D
My dive buddies didnt want to do a long dive
Great video I am glad the huge waves are gone.
They are gone for now. We are still in our storm season so you never know what mother nature has in store.
@@cadiveguy I tried to do my ccr class 1st week of January. I have to come back to do the open water
@@davidb5195 you got to experience her fury surf was huge
@@cadiveguy yeah surge was insane on the Yukon
What a great dive! Thanks for all the video of their boat and shop. We’ve wanted to head down there and I love seeing their set up.
thanks for sharing! Where you buy the "special" triglide?
Dive Gear Express
Love the baby sharks. ❤
There seems to be more baby horn sharks out lately.
Those horned sharks are cool
They really are. The adults are cool to see too.
Your rig looks a whole lot shinier and less beat up than mine does! I’m a cave guy though…
All good, no caves here in San Diego but we do have a few wrecks. Love this system 🤙
@@cadiveguy I have several hundred hours on mine. I use a 6 cu/ft bottle for suit inflation stacked on top of my O2 bottle. A couple of my buddies are using a pair of carbon fiber bottles, I think 3 liter bottles one for O2 and one for suit/wing in flatiron.
Great video
italy diving is more marine life than croatia. surface temp = 75 degrees , below is 60F 91pct visiblity
Cool dive
Thanks 🙏
Is it possible to also just leave the valves open and breath from both tanks simultaneously?
You could but at some point the system draws more from one side than the other and the tanks dont empty evenly. I dont understand the physics of it but that is what happens if you just keep both tanks open.
@@cadiveguy Thank you for the quick reply! Do you still use this system and do you think it would make it possible to use a full face mask with sidemount? (double)
@@Anomalous-Plant no, i no longer use the Z/system. I have gone back the the independent sidemount standard system because that is how my bailout system works for my Kiss Sidewinder rebreather setup. Yes I do think you can setup this system with a full facemask but you will need some sort of y adapter and a backup regulator in case your FFM floods for any reason.
@@Anomalous-Plant HI, no I dont use the Z System anymore. I went back to the traditional independent sidemount setup since this is how my Kiss Sidewinder rebreather is setup for my bailout system. I think you can add a y adapter to attach a FFM but you will have to add some sort of backup in case you have a failure with your FFM.
I will be hiring you after my kiss ccr class to guide me around that area.
So cool. If you are doing charters on you boat I will come and dive off of it.
Thank you for sharing your double tank set up, great suggestion with the tank straps! Can you easily reach O2 bottle valve?
Yes you are able to reach both valves
Thank you for demonstrating that
so cool
how long was your deco?
I was in my Kiss Rebreather so I only had to complete a 1 minute deco at 20 ft. In fact on my way to 20 ft, when I reached this depth I had cleared my deco requirement.
@@cadiveguy i am looking forward to my kiss spirit class with Robin in January
Love the vid (hate to throw shade music not so much )
Im trying a new video editor and they have different music
@@cadiveguy thank you for your consideration I am just a diver not a RUclipsr
Awesome that looks like algae of some sort or an anenome sorry I can't spell lol
I would love to do that!!!! But we have a University that lets us use their deep pool so that helps
What an amazing trip! Must feel a bit odd to dive open circuit
Yes but still an amazing place to dive. I had very low expectations after diving Croatia last year, fantastic place to go dive. I will come again and dive the other islands.
great video man and the music is at a proper volume now, love it man keep it up 👌
I have a lot of footage diving the Amalfi Coast! Great Diving in Italy
love the vid but maybe turn down the music when you are talking i can barely hear you, would wish to be as talented as you am learning to dive rn.
Thanks yeah I need to get better at that 😀
I will be diving on that in my ccr class in January. I am doing the kiss spirit
Awesome with Robin?
@@cadiveguy yes
What rebreather are you using ? How long was your bottom time? Great video !!!!!
Kiss Sidewinder, bottom time 60 min
@@cadiveguy thank you . One day could you discuss your journey to get CCR certified
@@ivoryjohnson4662 sure i am traveling to the Azores and Italy to dive but yes I will do a video on my journey to ccr training
@@cadiveguy wow that’s gonna be fun. Was Azores about 50 years ago if possible do a video on that as well please I am working towards my CCR on sidewinder before I get too old. You are a great inspiration
What gear was it a optima?
Kiss Sidewinder
Ever seen any white sharks out there? I know the nursery is out there it would be awesome to see some babies
Never seen one in person. Lots of drone footsge but never an encounter. None of my dive buddies have seen one either. We have been diving this spot since 1994
Thank you!!!!!
Could you show how you rigged up your K2 ….how you attached everything thanks in advance
Sure i will try to pull something together in a few weeks
