I think he gave a technical answer because there must have been a great deal of emotional issues behind the scenes that he didn't want to address. What year was this interview taken? My guess would be around 1986 judging by their hair.

No wonder they look so bored, the guy is only interrested in what goes wrong (what goes wrong in the studio, then what goes wrong on tour). You can see they're young and very nice. I'm old now but I would have told the interviewer to f... off, often things go right too, fortunately ! Why only being interrested in negative things. :)
