I'm from south Africa. 2000 years ago the apostles would not have come here to preach the gospel, as they would be trying to keep up with the khoi and san people. Being chased by lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos just to name a few. South Africa only became populated a lot later. I don't think any human would've been able to keep up with the khoi, they are known for running long distances in very secluded places.

In my long abandonded former evangelical background I noticed every pastor I listened to that brought up ghosts would ONLY do so when referencing the demonic or would outright say it's ALL demonic! But like you were saying there is a difference in how they act and from what people report. I loved everything about this story. And I understand humbly laying your life down for Jesus. BUT I believe this is the exception not the rule. If someone breaks into my home im not letting my family die, and if someone breaks into my monastery I’m not letting my brothers die. Sure take me but you can’t touch my brothers. NO GREATER LOVE then to lay your life down for your brothers, The Bible says. And though how he died was honorable I couldn’t let my closest friends be brutally murdered. And I believe God agrees.

Well, the darkness during the crucifixion would not have been a solar eclipse, if that's what you meant, Father. Passover was always within a week of a full moon. Solar eclipses can only happen during new moon.

The whole story of the N T is a fairy tale. Simon Magus is reported to have done magical things that failed. We don't get to hear what "Simon says"? A person who died quite sometime before the Gospels were written.

Yes! That explanation from Chrysostem was so helpful! I’ve been banging my head against the wall for a bit about this story trying to figure out the significance. I know there are no throwaway passages in scripture, so it bugged me. The biblical theological explanation you shared was excellent. So was the detail about the relative poverty of the sons of the prophets. I knew the Law said the man would have to make restitution for losing the borrowed axe head, but his poverty and no doubt the expense of forged iron in those days, makes sense why he’d have been so distraught.

The 2 kings 6 floating axe head. I dont actually remember any past looks at that story so i went and re-read the account. It reads that the guys wanted to relocate near the river. They all go there and start to take down some trees. they seem to have wanted to get a tree that was right near the river and the axe head fell off. There seems to be a big deal made that the axe was just borrowed, so that seems to suggest these guys were broke and were begging tools from people. OK,,,be that as it may...what happens next is why the story is included in the story of the prophet. It is clearly written to give the reader the suggested idea that it was a miracle. But....its also written with some wiggle room to the story too Now if it was a true miracle, then it is kinda odd how the guys dont seem to make a very big deal out of it. It reads like the axe head floated up and guy grabbed it, and they all went back to work. Like its not a big deal. Perhaps that is just how it went. Perhaps it was a real once in a lifetime miracle, everyone saw it happen, but then they all moved on. If so, thats fine with me... But the 'wiggle room" is how the story talks about the actions of the prophet to get the axe head back. The prophet asks where did it land in the water? That suggests that the prophet needed to know that information for what he was planning to do. Then the prophet is said to have cut his own stick, and put it down into the water, and then up came the axe head. so is this a Miracle?...perhaps. But it also reads like the prophet asked where the axe fell?...made a stick to the right length, and then fished around for it until he snagged it and lifted it up. It is perhaps interesting that the prophet had to tell one of the other guys to "Grab it"...its almost like the prophet did not dare let go of his end of his stick? Im not saying it was not a miracle. and if it is a true miracle , , thats fine with me. But Im just noticing that it kinda reads a lot like what all us guys do when you are out fishing and your friend drops something into the water and you got to start searching for it... You might try to snag it with something, Then lift it up, and then tell someone else to grab it while you hold it steady..

when i repented i was writing something about christ and suddenly tears came and i bowed down on the ground crying , usually its very very hard for me to cry i dont know where this tears came from , it wasnt a pressure of emotional feeling or anything but i repented truly and tears came like a second baptism , thank god for everything , one time also in the jesus prayer i almost had tears , i dont know why its hard for me to have tears maybe my ego is high or maybe i need to connect deeper
