How to Paint Your Droid
This is my take on how to paint your very own custom droid from Droid Depot in Batuu at Galaxy's Edge. For the color choices, I was heavily inspired by Ultraboost 21 shoes and am ecstatic on how S4-R6 "Sarge" ended up looking. Keep in mind, this is not the only way you can paint your pod. This was done based on my experience as a miniature painter for over 20 years.

OK WARNING!! Do not follow this guys instructions. He has no clue how to paint anything. You dont clean sanding with water, you use rubbing alcohol, spirits, You dont paint over a clear coat, masking tape he uses is wrong, This guy is clueless.
lol !! Let primer dry for 8 hours? Your high dude.. Thought you said you liked paint that dried fast.. Primer dries in 30 min or less.

If the primary color is the same type of paint as the primer (Rustoleum paint+primer), is it ok to skip the primer layer altogether?
I painted my own droid and I didn't have to wait 8 hours each time for paint to dry. A blow-dryer does wonders.
Just to clarify: In my case, I want to use gold spray paint on red and white originally colored parts of the droid. Will matte white paint primer still work best? Never done this before so I really want to be sure. If I understand correctly, it is best to use darker matte paint primer with darker colors, white painter colors for lighter colors. Is this fairly accurate?
I’ve been spray painting for a good while and personally not a fan of either. Light or dark grey are my go to depending on whatever’s in stock I just get one or the other.

The same principles goes for the R droids. It's a plastic surface so it will take the paint the same way. Just remember to cover electronics so it doesn't get painted on
@@thatcornerincoruscant4995 I painted one to match R4-G9. It came out really nice. I’m not sure if I want to weather it. Your paint schemes are pretty original. That’s why I’m curious to see what you’d do with an R-droid.

Sorry for the late questioning, but do you use just a normal silver sharpie or a sharpie paint marker? Awesome work and thanks for the tutorial!

What tool do you use to get all the part out? my bag has only circiular screws in them and none of my stuff is working
I used a Phillips Head Screwdriver, they were as easy to unscrew like you see in the video. If the screws are different, you might bought the other type of bag and they have fake screws that most people drill out

The same principle applies on R units. They just disassemble differently, split the project into the 3 legs, the head/dome, and the body. Cover/mask all electronic parts and joints. Painting would be the same, as they are just plastic
