Planting Bare Root Raspberries - The Best Way!

Just remember bare root brambles just need humidity to start, do not start them outside in direct sun. The stalks will die and then you have a 50/50 shot of them growing from root. So create a humidity wall and not dome to get them started. Planting bare root raspberries can be very fun and rewarding when done properly! Disappointed, emailed them and received no response. Being deaf I can't just call them. It's been 5 days. Hope I did it right. No matter how they grow probably won't rebuild from them since they didn't respond as they said they would. Sad, since I care about shopping from small businesses and veterans.

I was expecting seeds and was shocked when I opened the package then I realized that I had ordered the incorrect item. Since they were already in my possession I decided to keep them and plant them indoors. I hope they survive.

Just got my order today, my plan is to grow these in a aerogarden farm 24XL. Unfortunately the roots beat the farm here as far as shipping times. My farm won't be here for four more days. My plan is to use airstones instead of aerogarden pump, elevated baskets to keep crowns dry, plus a fan. Getting the right medium is my tricky part, as some videos suggest rockwool. However your suggestion is to not, so possibly clay pellets? Something that wont make a mess in the tank with debris. Next question, the farm 24 XL will hold 24 plant slots, however I figured half that number would be best, possibly less even. Each side will hold 6 plants in a 3 gallon reservoir with 300 ppm of fox farm grow big. Am I doomed or is this a good plan for your roots?

How important is the sand? I didn't have any when I planted them nor didn I know what kind to get (though I did add a fertilizer). That being said our 26 (we ordered 25) plants are doing great! It's only been 5 days and all our plants have 2-4 leaves on them and growing fast!

Received mine today in EXCELLENT condition!(5/6/23) Not happy they were left in my mailbox🥴 I ordered “Ever sweet Ever bearing (ordered 10 rcv 11🥰)soaking in pp towel in jar. Question though..aren’t you suppose to “mound” your soil/sand mixture and place the top stem ON top of mound and place roots “around” said mound and cover with more “mix” then bark? Why would you just cram all the roots into a hole? Wouldn’t they suffocate and struggle bunched/crammed together? Honest question as these are delicate pre-grown root systems that require “placement” not crammed into a hole to find their way…if I am wrong please correct me. Respectfully~Staci (UTAH)

Cold in Colorado, wh en the plants arrived. I put individual plants in a CARBOARD tube made of scrap box, added plotting soil. The tubes are a FOOT tall, so the roots can really get long. ... What is best soil pH? And what pH water? (got really high pH here!) .

I saw the written instructions after watching the video so I planted the bareroot plants in cups rather than diectly into the tower ,which it didn;t say in the video, and will move them to the tower when they have 4 sets of leaves ,which i belive is whatthe instructions said with regard to putting them in the ground .I still cannot find anything in the c=video or written instructions and did not see a reply to my comment regarding when the plants(in the tower) can be out outside without danger of being hurt by the cold ???again I am in zone 7a and th weather forecast shows temps above freezing for all of Feb excpet 2 days in mid feb when is is supposed to go tp 25 degrees and is chosuld stay above freezng the rst of Feb Thanks

Thank you for your comments and we are actually working on a new video. And yes, as it says in the wording to skip step three, we are finding people are exposing too much root and killing. The plants are too much room for errors in that step. Thank you for bringing that up so we could clarify.

@@handpickednursery3552 Thanks for responding//one other question The video doesn;t say anything about when to put the plants outside with regard to mionth or outdoor temps) I will be putting my bareroot plants that arrived today (2/4) in a strawberry tower indoors and it says they should be ready to go outside after 2 weeks ,which would mean 2/`18 ,I am in zone 7A and just want to make sure it won;t be too cold for them I can keep them indoors longer if necessay

Just received my plants, all 50 of them. Wish I would have had these directions beforehand. I read about the 30% sand mixture and have my garden tower all ready to go. Now I see that that probably won't work and I have no other options. Also would liked to have know that I should transplant these in 5" deep containers first, before planting them outside in their final destination.

Was so happy with the strawberry plants I got from you yesterday! Ordered Ozark Beauties from one of the big online garden retailers before this and they took 3 weeks to get to me and were in sad shape and most didn't make it. Got big, healthy dry root plants from you in less than a week, with their tops still green and really strong roots. Planted them already this morning and I believe they will be really happy with me here in NC. Joined your mailing list and subscribed to your channel. Thanks so much!

I would agree with others that I would prefer a written list of instructions, it just makes it more precise and clear for me personally. I don’t want to have to open up my phone along every step of working on this… that bugs me. But I get it, you get the grab of monitizing a video people have to come watch, and about 5x over again. But it is quite inconvenient for my life personally. I’m happy to see the veteran company info though! Hooah! But on that note… KISS, remember? Simpler is better. It would be beneficial to have a more simplified version of this, for someone who doesn’t have greenhouse space in their kitchen, and is planning to put it outdoors quickly. Like what’s the outdoor conditions needed for that move? The video was fine. The music was blasting my ears off though my dude. 😂 And the camera angle wasn’t ideal for an instruction video. Looking head on at the product, and action, would provide the most visual aid to your customers. And the texts box are indeed problematic given it’s very small on a phone, and shaded a color so it’s hard to see. Overall, a simple voice-over would be better in my opinion. But all of that to say, I’m just a random customer. You probably don’t even care for the critics. But if you only have video instructions, it would be behooving and good for business to have a precise video. And honestly, some folks just do better hearing a human explain it to them. So that’s my 2 cents as a veteran that wants to see your company flourish and have EVERYONE recommending you to their friends. A solid video could get you there. Food for thought, God bless.

I was thinking of just doing the rinse and grow bag for a few days, and then transplanting outside…. If it stays warm. They say in the video that they need 50-80 degrees to establish new feed roots. So… if it stays above 50 outside…why not just get them planted?!! What did you resolve to do 3 weeks ago after you commented this? 🙏🏽♥️

I would guess pearlite. I mix that in with my soil to try and prevent the soil from getting too dense from watering. It’s cheap at hardware stores, and looks like floofy styrofoam balls, but it’s not styrofoam! It’s great to keep a bag around for all your plant needs, both indoors and outdoors.

I'm still completely confused!!! I just got my two sets each of barefoot strawberries and asparagus. They're still in the package because I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!!! WHERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS? It's still too cold (upper 20s-low30s) to plant them in the garden bed. This video doesn't show you what to do until the weather is ready for planting. It's my first time growing these, and I'm very frustrated.

I bought my strawberry plants for hydroponic planting. My granddaughter loves strawberries! I wish there was more information in this video on this method of planting since it’s December here in New England and I want these plants to produce for her to enjoy. Fresh strawberries out of season are SO expensive. I’ve had good luck with my lettuce and tomatoes and I love watching her grab something and eat it right off the plant!
