Cars are my passion - for the last couple of years I have been trading in and out of them like crazy. I tend to keep a practical car or truck as my daily driver and a Lifted truck as my pleasure vehicle. I figured I would use my RUclips account to keep track of it all. I am no vehicle expert or mechanically inclined by any means, I tend to do some of the smaller modifications myself and leave the hard stuff for the professionals.
2017 F250 3.5 Lift Build Process
This is a video of the steps I took to get my truck lifted. Most of the time we take our trucks to one shop to have everything done and for the most part that is okay. In this occasion I wanted to do all the steps myself to see if I could actually save more money and have more freedom to select my own packages. I go over how I picked my wheels and tires, then took a couple of short clips from the lift shop, tire shop, alignment shop and finally the detail shop.

I gave this thing a facelift. Installed new wheels, new Chevy bow tie, ltz grille inserts and replaced both headlights. I’ve also used mother back to black on all the exterior plastic.

I just picked up my new daily driver. After changing the oil to mobile, adding a new K&N filter, my plan is to give it a face lift. The headlights are turbo faded the grill looks old the wheels look dated, so join me as I try to make this truck look more like a later model avalanche.

Were you able to ride with the stock 31 inch tires?
Yep, this legit works. Gave it a go this past weekend...removed those annoying scratches on the driver side window.
Think ur an idio_😅
I have a really screwed up windshield. By mistake, my son poured some sort of caustic liquid that was stored in a windshild washer jug into my 2008 Acura TL washer fuild resevoir. I sparyed the windshield to clean it on the way to work, but when I got to the parking lot, my car's windshield and most of the car was now covered in what looks like a white salt brine looking mess. It looked like dried milk on the car, but when I washed the car, the caustic liqued had etched itself into the glass, you can see the edges where the liquid did not touch that part of the glass. I took the car to a detailer that charged me 600 dollars to buff the paint clear coat and windshield. It took him 6 hours of buffing but the edge of the lines of that caustic fluid still showed, that's how much this stuff "ate" into the glass. Now, here is the problem, the windshield has a terrible haze when headlights shine on it that is so bad, I can't drive at night because I can't see down the road until the car passes me. If I get dirt on the windshield and then use the wipers to clean it, small amounts of dirt are still stuck in these thousands and thousands of little " pits" in the glass and that then leaves dirt streaks across the windshield. I have tried using rubbing alcohol to completely clean the glass, doesn't do a thing to help. So my question to you is , would your method shown here help to clear my windshield.
Are the windows still good? And did it fix the scratches for good?
Looks like the boot from your upper steering shock needs to be cut. When you hit a bump, your axle travels up and hits it. Also, that big 4x4 needs to see at least some off road time. Some back country dirt and muddy roads or just to go hunting, fishing, or camping. Good luck. Hope you figure it out.
no u think this would be fine doing on a 2002 avalanche window
How often does this need to be done?
Me too my stabilizer went out of place why
That upper shock isn't supposed to be in there when using this dual set up
Winch one is better the dd or the kicker ?
The DD by a landslide
Douche
Idiot
So stupid u don’t use it for anything .douche !
Ya that whee is definitely outta wack hehe
This work on glass stove tops too
Does it rub at full turn
looks like the ball joint above it is hitting it. the dent is semi round just like the ball joint bottom.it does require a 2.5 in lift to prevent this from happening.
so he needs to add a 2.5 to his already 6" of lift????
@@johnpike9612 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂right?!?!?!
My scratch is on outside drivers window. Will this hurt the tint on window
No.
Never heard or seen people tint the outside of there cars lol 😂 if it’s tinted from the inside it won’t do nothing to the outside we’re you need to buff it 😂
I bought the same exact setup. I live in a mining town, Arizona. My windows were badly scratched. This works. Great video. Thank you 2017 ram 2500
Paint the gray cup holder with plastic paint. Take you an hour...
I got just one very fine line scratch was thinking using dremal tool with buffing pad on it applying some that mothers polish see if it will make it disappear.
did it change?
What size were the stock wheels?
I wanna say 20X8.5
You have to turn the bolts around that are in the sleeve for the tie rod that's what I had to do with my Superduty
Could you please post a pic or a detailed description. I have a 2012 f250 w/ 3" lift and I think your solution would work for me, but I'm not exactly sure.
@@jcfields9793 i just spun the collars that are over top of the tie rod adjuster so my bolts are on the top with the nuts now facing the diff and everything clears
Sounds easy enough, thanks for the reply.
I love this video and have tons of respect for this build! I don’t care what anyone says lifting my 2015 2wd looks fantastic
Do you have any pics ? I’m really interested . I have a 2017 2wd and want to lift it
Steven 5.7 same ima do it my uncle says there no issue with it and if there is oh well I have a 14 Silverado 👌🏾
@@gustavodelgeh3580 when you thinking of lifting it ? What set up are you going to run ?
@@gustavodelgeh3580 I ended up lifting it a total of 9in! Looked amazing and did well
Jordan Parker yessir
The stud on your factory stabilizer is hitting the body of you new stabilizer, you can remove it or cut the end of the stud off and keep it.
I just installed a new pair of RC stabilizers and a new factor stabilizer. The new factor stabilizer no longer has that long bolt that stick down on the end near the center of the truck. I'm thinking this will clear and not dent the new RC stabilizer. Time will tell.
I don’t care what anyone says that truck looks perfect! Every truck deserves a lift and good tires
How tall is your truck now? I don’t want to be taller than 7’2” so I can go through the car wash.
Not sure if you got it figured out But I had the same issue And it turned out that the bump stop extensions were never installed by the shop that lifted the truck so I got a set of extensions and never had an issue after that
Truck looks great man! You definitely did your homework on this project. How are you liking the 37's? Any regrets on them being too big?
Thanks! I love the look of the 37’s over 35’s on the 250s.. no regrets there however I wish I would have gone with an all terrain tire vs the Mud terrain..
@@Tech5015 Awesome, thanks for the reply! I've got a '21 on order, going to do the 37" Toyo AT3 I think.
Solution: Replace that Cheap RC with a BDS with Fox Dampers -
You can polish it but you’ll never get the scratch’s out
yes u can , sand it and polish it alot
Bet you are better huh
Just seeing this , are you still happy with it? I've got a 19 F150 I'm thinking about leather for mine. Thanks
Timothy Ryan - I’m happy with this kit but I am much happier with the kit on my F-150 it’s a katzkin brand instead of road wire brand ..
A knuckle/ spindle lift would have been a better choice (cheaper and easier)... that spacer block is ridiculous big , 4.5 knuckle/spindle and a small spacer and u would not have to do a crossmember drop and disrupt to much of the factory geometry....that being said not hating truck looks amazing!!!!
Looks so great!! Thanks for the video, i got the exact same interior. Where do you buy this great black leather cover seat?? 😎👍🏽
MBM Pablo , i actually had a local shop sell me the kit along with the install. The leather kit is a roadwire brand kit, it’s okay but now that I have had the chance to view a couple others I would hands down get the Katzkin kit.
@@Tech5015 alll right!!! 😎👌🏽 thank you!!!
Had same problem. The center bracket needs to be moved up away from tie rod
Expeditions and navigators have this problem its due to the weather strip pressing to hard against the window and with that much pressure and little debree or sand it will scratch the windows. I clean them with a thin hard plastic wrapped with cloth and running it along between the glass and the weather strip and applying pressured water to remove all the gunk off. By doing this the strip will push off from the glass preventing it to scratch it again But do this every time you wash your truck if it is really dirty.
So that's a regular drill...headlight polish pad ? Thanks
For anyone who is wondering if it really works, I just went out and bought this exact stuff and the window came out looking like new! Thanks for the help good sir.
keep in mind NEWER cars have vinyl in the side windows where tempered glass does not .
My vehicle is a 2014 Tahoe and it worked out great. Not sure what type of windows I have but it still looks good 5 months later. Def a fan of the tip he gave in the video.
Thank you broski
What pad is the one that works ?
Man that’s a sweet truck , like the red on the wheels it really sets it off..
Thanks for posting. Great short video. I just order some glass repair kit online but didnt notice when ordering it won't be here for like a month. I have some real bad scratches in my Ram for that kit but this might get bye by for now.
I have a jeep cherokee xj right hand drive and i have the same problem, mine is rubbing on the tie rod and causing it to burst after only 3 weeks use
Thank you!!!
They are hitting the tie rod retainer clamps
BDS > rough country!
I don't understand why so many people get black leather when their seats were gray? With the gray seatbelts on black seats, it just looks off to me. All gray leather would look great!
I went with black leather body and grey inserts and bolster trim. It looks awesome.
finally after an hour of searching i find out my truck windows are scratched, not water... this was insanely helpful!!
remove factory one.. problem fixed
How much do you pay monthly
in the scenario of no money down and no trade the payments would be 1090 for 60 months with an interest rate of 5 something percent..
I’m having the same problem with the same setup and I figured out for me it was my drop pitman arm that was hitting my stabilizer whenever I would hit a big enough bump, basically rough country designed this poorly (in terms of location) making their own stabilizer kit not even compatible with their own lift kit.
Good info thankyou
