Old man in wheelchair looking for first slute ... hands excellent, sight good, lungs okay. Getting sound from flute was easy, never knew to try octives untill I watched some lesson w/ FCNY's folks on web. Never played music, do not read music. Recently found classical and jazz flute music (Mozart to Rampal) and love it. Checked out types and builds of flutes from materials, builds, reasons for more $, etc. Want to do this inexpensively with solid silver head joint = not possible. Until I know that I can do, keep it cheap. Similar experience to excited 8-year-old but an 80+ knowledgable adult. Not a lot of time left but would like to enjoy it if I can. If it becomes too much to handle, may have to be content to simply listen. If I can, I would like to try.

Does it require a lot of air(like more than normal flute)? I noticed you taking breaths often but you were also playing notes very fast
