Two KM3NeT strings
What a beautiful sight, two strings of each 18 Digital Optical Modules (DOMs) are ready to be transported to the Mediterranean Sea
The KM3NeT collaboration is constructing two large volume neutrino detectors in the Mediterrean Sea. By detecting the Cherenkov light caused by the product particles from neutrino interactions in the sea-water, the collaboration aims to study the nature of the flux of high-energy neutrinos with an astrophysical origin and to determine the ordering of the neutrino mass-eigenstate.

c'è la corsa alla ricerca dell'onda gravitazionale come quella che fu la corsa all'oro . Nel 1916 Einstein ipotizza l'esistenza delle onde, poi silenzio fino al secolo XXI, ecco esplode la corsa col BICEP2 metodo indiretto con la polarizzazione delle microonde del fondo cosmico. poi la competizione fra LIGO americano e Virgo europeo col metodo diretto LASER. Ma solo nel 2034 si avrà la certezza assoluta col satellite LISA informatore laser spaziale. Chi vincerà il Nobel cioè la corsa all'oro?
