I never saw this until the last weekend. I was hoping to see more 'Chicago' in it (as in 1982, I was cast in the very first non-professional cast of the show at my college), and I'm also a HUGE Scheider fan. This was truly Roy's greatest performance. And he got beat out for the Oscar by Kramer vs Kramer? C'mon!! This is the greatest homage to a Broadway star since "Yankee Doodle Dandy" Only Scheider wasn't the song and dance man that Cagney was.

The horn at 8:27 is the highlight of the entire song.

Gente, faço um apelo aos pais. Não mostrem nada ruim e negativo e assustador para seus filhos. Eu não acredito nas coisas que meus pais me colocavam pra assistir, alem do que eles deixavam eu ver. Não é a toa que eu comecei a ter depressão aos 13 anos. Minha vida escolar não era nada fácil, com a puberdade outras coisas horriveis externas comecaram a acontecer. E como se não bastasse tudo isso, meus pais me deixavam ver filmes de terror, musicais assustadores e depressivos, como este, dos anos 70. Tudo regrado a drogas e problemas psicologicos. Chegou nos anos 80, tudo era sobre o fi m do mu ndo e a terceira g ue rra mundial. Po r ra! Dificil ter esperança na vida crescendo envolta disso tudo. Eu fiz diferente com meu filho. Assim que soube que estava grávida, eu saí de uma peça de teatro sobre a ditadura, em que eu fumava, ficava gravida e era torturada, perdendo o feto. Saí. E vejo atrizes fazendo até filmes de te rr or enqto estão gravidas, pais deixando sua criança fazer filmes de te rro r. Deixei de falar palavrão, deixei de ouvir rock, deixei de assistir filmes de terror e filmes violentos e tudo o que era proibido para maiores de dez anos. Só coisas bonitas, alegres, felizes e esperançosas. Deu certo. Minhas irmãs tuveram filhos antes de mim. Não fizeram isso e deram a mesma educação que nossos pais deram. Filhos drogados e ou depressivos. Meu filho, feliz, alegre, dicertido, sociável, otimista. Teve problemas com o pai, e gracas a Deus e a minha educação, na vida social é tudo ótimo. Assim ele pode ter alento na vida fora de casa, e comigo, pra o ajudar a não cair em depressão ou em maus caminhos devido ao que acontecia com o pai. Não facam isso com os filhos de vocês. A midia está toda estimulando coisas de t e rr or e vi olên cia, coisas fora da lei e fút eis. Alem de fim do mundo e tragédias no futuro. Os jovens estao depressivos e sem esperança no futuro, sem esperança nas suas vidas. Não facam isso. Pessoas felizes e otimistas conseguem uma vida ótima. Pessoas pess imistas e depre ssivas, desistem da vida a cada obstáculo.

Someone once said that ballet is architecture in motion. This scene, not only with the performers, but also the throbbing setting, the music, the colors, and the pulsating movement, is absolute perfection. "All That Jazz" tops my list of favorite movies.

This movie has guts. It puts an unlikeable character front and center and ends in grand tragedy. It’s not audience-tested. Amazing stuff.

When the music is over… Watched this 44 years ago at age 16 av whole bunch of times. It served as a cautious tale to a teenager experimenting with all kinds of drugs and considering a career in performing arts. Prolly saved me from going down that road as I hit the road and travelled instead…

It's just a stunning setpiece in an outstanding film. It just gives it the perfect finale.

Get such a buzz from this scene, but it still chokes me a bit when he goes over to his daughter and wife.

Ben Vereen showed his singing & dance genius as O'Connor Flood. Rugged life. Lots of life's ups & downs, like Bob Fosse. Roy Scheider was masterful as the Fosse-like Joe Gideon. Outstanding cast, great music, fine movie! 👌😎

Brilliant and vey wise and emotional ending .

Imagine a movie being as great as this that at the Cannes film festival that you had to share the top prize with a Kurosawa film.

I was NOT expecting this to get so Drug Trippy during the final third act. I was REALLY high when I saw this and I was absolutely mesmerized by the movie. One of my favorites 44 years later.
