You can never explain to someone who hasn't experienced withdrawal, it's the most horrible physical, emotional and you've got to experience it to know how bad it is, I used heroin for over 20years on and off and did cold turkey a few times, I got through my addiction finally a few years ago and the only advice I could give to someone struggling with addiction is to keep trying to get clean, you will probably fail a few times like I did but eventually you'll get there.. Try try try again and again and again...👍

I was a heroin addict for 7 years doing over a gram a day of raw uncut heroin.( yes i know for a fact it wasnt cut, my lab results proved it.) I quit cold turkey an for me it wasnt the sickness, or the restless legs an arms or depression. It was the insomnia. Im dead serious when i say i didnt sleep for almost an entire month. Id sleep for 10-15 mins at a time, and it REALLY took a toll on me mentally. Ill never forget the first night i actually got a full 8 hours of sleep. I felt amazing.

The worst thing is the leg cramps. I’ve literally cried from not being able to lie down or sleep .

I quit Suboxone after 7yrs cold turkey without tapering. No lies told here. I thought I was good after 3-4 months. It wasn’t until a year later that I realized even then my brain was foggy. 2 hip replacements later, back on Suboxone. I honestly just might stay on it. It took so much out of me to quit it the first time. I honestly don’t know that I care to go thru that again. I’ve got a kid now, a career. I can’t just set aside months of my life. Imagine that. Sorry honey, can’t be a good dad for 6 months, I’ve got to detox. And even if I do, my hips are still done for. So then what? Hydrocodone, percocet, whatever opiate they choose? Pick your poison.

And the desperation. You will take or do anything to stop it. Until the day you get your mind right an prepare for the hell that is coming. Iv done it on a river bank an done it in prison.

6years sober from opiates after 15 year steady decline in further harder addiction. Withdrawal is the worst feeling in the world and unless you've experienced it you cannot fathom the hell you go through. If you give it time you can figure out what works for you. And with the Good Lords help stack those days up to the point your at a week,a couple weeks into a month, a couple months into a year. I'm heading towards a decade. I wanna see what 10 years feels like. Take it one day at a time. Don't future trip we do recover!
