Why not independent battery installed on the blinds.
Hi. Blinds with batteries installed are great products. We sell an awful lot of them. However are probably 3 main reasons to look at this solution if you are at first fix. 1. No need to recharge the blinds ever - this is an attractive feature for many customers 2. Battery blinds often have a limitation in terms of lifting capacity, where as mains operated motors are often more powerful and better for larger shades. 3. We often have blinds wired back to home automation set-ups. This might be a simple 3 core and earth solution with remote relays, or a more complex system with Cat5 connections. This way of installing can be used for these blind types.
No. This is a nuisance and continued expense. Imagine you cannot pull blinds down if you run out of batteries.

I’m wiring a full gut remodel. What voltage are these blinds? If they qualify as class 2 electrical can I run a long control cable to a class 2 electrical box 50- 100 feet away?
Hi Jim. Normally these blinds are 230v in the UK. It depends on the blind type and size as to whether it is Class 1 or Class 2 - the larger blinds are likely to be Class 2. Regarding your cable run, you would really need to check this with your electrical contractor. With kind regards.
