Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris Race Day Review: Best Marathon Shoe?
I'm 40 miles in and I'm obsessed. I keep grabbing it...even on short runs. It's so responsive and has such an awesome balance with the cushion. Agreed that I feel so fast in this shoe. Upper is super accommodating. I sometimes go for wides, but this one fits perfect. Much better than the x 2. Only issues I've had were some heel rubbing on my right foot...but I corrected it by wearing a Darn Tough cushioned sock. I also agree with the pull down on the laces, but oddly I've cranked them a few times and it actually hasn't bothered me. This shoe is it for me at this point. Also crazy how consistent this shoe/x2.5 has consistently been on the podium for the last couple years. I think they've got something special with this one that's gonna stick around for a bit.
I know this is a dumb question, but how did they feel when you were walking in them? Thanks for the video!
I think this will do really good for those who have job where they have to stand a lot or walk a lot. Running is probably a secondary thing for this shoe. Walking, standing recovery etc is the primary thing for this shoe.
That bulldozer is firm out of the box, compared to the 1080 v13. And after the break in period, probably it will bottom out easily like the v4! Too much hype, better options out there in my opinion.
How many miles you getting out of the 1080 and the v4?
I have hoka bondi 8 and they are NOT as cushiony as many ppl try to portray it. They are hardly cushiony at all tbh and feel more like a clunky brick. As far as the support goes on the sole (outside part of it) itself - it’s decent sturdy support given the fact it’s hard as a brick. But not comfortable or soft. The only thing I loved about this shoe is the fact that toe-box is actually as wide as advertised, unlike New Balance 1080 fresh foam who claim to be wide in the toe-box on my purchase yet they are anything but….
Please which shoe springy cushion puma magmax or sc triner v3 ????
Still trying to get my hands on the puma shoe
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody .... Is fuel cell same nitro midsole???
Hello bro please i want to ask you about fuel cell same nitro midsole?? Because the two same meaning nitrogen infused foam ???
both are technically nitrogen infused midsoles but not the same midsole. Each brand has a different formulation
Send me a pair and I would describe 🙃
Thanks! Right now it’s just a one man show
I have wide black ❤ ❤❤❤
Nice!!!
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Codyvery good
I went hoka store it’s too hard like rock
What about the fit? How is the length, width and toebox volume
True to size to me. Width is solid, accommodating to my widish foot.
What is your favorite marathon racing shoe?
Right now probably ASICS Metaspeed sky Paris. Used it in my last marathon
Rock on ! Would you recommend the vaporfly3 or endorphin pro 4 for a newer marathoner targeting 3:45 -4?
The forefront cushioning leaves much to be desired.
It really does!
Nike is so tied to 10mm drop in all of their training shoes by their audience and history it’s seriously limiting. Beautiful that Hoka started with 5mm and On followed suit by standardizing the same. Nike seriously needs to put out better product top to bottom, adidas has better offerings today and in the pipeline than them. The peg plus is kind of a start…
Yea, a man can wish that they would go to 8mm. I definitely think this shoe is a step in the right direction
It's good for heel strikes which is the avg consumer
@@BC21beats They could go to 7 or 8 and be fine. The issue with 10mm is actually the diminished amount of forefoot cushioning from it. The average consumer clearly appreciates forefoot cushioning looking at New Balance (another company advocating 6mm drop) and Hoka’s popularity.
@@Nextman916 I mean don't grt me wrong I hate it too but I really never noticed until I made a conscious effort to fix my running form. I think a lot of ppl jusy buy nikes do some random gym and running combined and move on 🤷
This is the perfect tempo and speed work shoe, sans plate. I get that it doesn't work for longer workouts, but I would go to the Vaporfly or Alphafly for those TBH. I've been pining for a non-plated workout shoe for base work, and it finally arrived.
Nice! Yea i definitely enjoy it for those shorter distance. And I agree supinely faster than I expected.
Nice review bro 💪🏾
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻thanks man!!
Thanks for the first impressions, looking forward to your full review. You mentioned the fit is a little tight, did you get them in your usual size or do you think a half size up is recommended? Last Brooks shoe I had was the glycerine 19 and I needed a half size up in that one compared to my usual one. Thanks.
Thanks! I’m glad I went true to size in a 9.5 in all brooks. The upper is snug but not uncomfortable where you need to size up
I sent mine back. Hard as a rock. Back to ASICS
Yea, hopefully the 7 has best foam
Can you run the zegama 2 on road? Or only trail
Yea you can run on roads, but I wouldn’t run long distances on roads, the lugs might be a bother after awhile
Good review! What is your daily run and recovery pace?
Daily run pace 7:45-8:15 and recovery I try to be around 9
What do you think about a marathon in this shore at 8:30 pace?
Yea I think it has the cushion to do the job!
Thank you for this
Thank you for watching!!
hurt my big toe..exchanged for the balos
How are you liking the balos ?
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody I like it. It has become my daily trainer, similar feeling to the nike invincible. Really nice for non-plated shoe.
Thank you for the review! Are you a heel striker or a forefoot striker
More mid foot. But I try my best to be forefoot
Good pros. Perfect for the trails here
Hell yea it is!
TTS?
Yes, I’m a 9.5 in all hokas and this shoe was no exception
Another excellent review, Cody! Just out of interest, have you ever run in a pair of the More v4’s? If so, I’m curious to know the differences (if any) between the v5 and the v4? Keep on creating that great content! 👌🏼
Thanks!! Appreciate the support. Yes I ran in both the 4 and 5. For me it’s the foam, the 5 foam feels a little more squishy and more comfortable. Both shoes I have trained for a marathon in and the v5 just feels a little more premium
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody Thanks Cody. Much appreciated. I think I’ll cop a pair of the v5’s. Loving the new black colour way!
The heat comes from the compression of the foam. Its energy that is converted to heat. Just pick any max cushion shoe and run in it then stop and touch the midsole. Even on cool day with cold pavement, the foam will be hot. It's plain physics. The softer the foam, the hotter it will get. 1080, Balos, More, all generate lot of heat.
Yea I get that, but other shoes with a similar stack can handle the heat better. The upper could be more breathable
Has it begun to squeak for you?
oh yea!
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Codyit has? 😆 so annoying I would buy if not
Are they ok for pronation?
they are not a stability shoe and the zoomx is squishy
I really like that color way
Right! Got lucky with this one. Nike knows my preference by now :)
Just picked up mine today. Nice review Cody 👍
Thanks! Let me know what you think
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody they feel great ran a 5k and 10k pr in them this week!
❤❤❤
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
It's on sale now too on Nike.
The 20% off does not apply to this shoe, so not on sale at this time.
@@mosszaphod it’s 39% off sir on certain colors.
@@thisgustin - I stand corrected good sir! I was looking the the Gore-Tex ones is why. I forgot they had a non-GT version. TY.
@@mosszaphod yeah actually I didn’t realize there was a gore Tex version too. Just looking into it now.
@@thisgustin - - Teamwork :-). I ordered the black / grey Gore-Tex ones. I just bought my first pair of On Clouds and fell in love, so hoping these are as good!
Man that shoe is just way too ugly for me, can't even look at it lol
Hahahahhaha it’s not the best looking shoe. But it gets the job done
Enjoyed the review, Cody. Older guy here, need good stability. My mechanics are far from perfect. The firmer More v3 (& orthotic) worked really well for me. I like hills. The softer gap-heel on the v4 seemed a bit of a stability problem, in my case. V5 would look great to me, except I'm a bit worried the mega squishy softness might negate some of the rockered, and stable/wide platform structural advantages. Any impressions for my case, until the day I get to try these in person ? You probably guessed I'm more about injury prevention, than speed focused.
Yea, if 4 was too soft this might be too soft as well. Would hate for you to buy knowing the softness is a concern
I tried my Pegasus Trail 5's today, very happy with grip and stability in the dry on roads and dry trails, more comfortable than my Pegasus 41's so I think these will be my go to shoe for most my training now.
I agree 100% the Pegasus trail is fantastic!
I love it. it really needs to break in!
How many miles did it take? Because I got over 30 and still hard as a rock
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody i felt mine soften up around 30-40 miles
How do they do on gravel?
They performed really well. I do a lot of my long runs on a rail trail in my area and no issues at all. I also don’t have the greatest ankles and happy to report the stack height was not an issue on any of the terrain I ran on. Hope that helps.
Have you run in the OG Max or any of the Noosa Tris? I'm wondering how these compare. Thanks,
I have run in the Hyperion tempo, Hyperion max 1 and 2 and the Hyperion 1. No noosa though. I would say this does not feel like any of them. It’s a very snug upper and the foam is very snappy. I been doing speed workouts in this shoe and definitely has an old school shoe feel
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody Thanks. I thought it was going to be the OG Max with a different foam.
Is it good for running 10k daily?
Yea definitely works well in that distance. Just keep in mind you will get some ground feel. But definitely a solid trail shoe
Would you recommend this as a daily trainer or should I consider the Hyperion 2? (Not the max)
I would absolutely recommend this as a daily trainer. Very comfy. I’d recommend the Hyperion 2 over this shoe if your looking for ground feel
V1 are my all time favorite. V2 were alright, felt they were more like nimbus 25's, (which are still a great shoe). Like the look of the V3's, but not sure if i'll bite the bullet.
They are definitely a solid long run shoes and tempo day shoe in my opinion. I really did not enjoy the v2 and do not love going at slower paces in this shoe.
I’m a US 11 in the Nike Invincible 3.. and a US 10.5 in the Vomero 17… anything idea what I’d be in these? 😅😅
They fit more like the Vomero 17 in my opinion
Prize?
$180
Still torn between vaporfly 3 and asics magic speed 4 for my speed sessions, any suggestions? (I’m currently rocking pegasus 38 & novablast 3 for my dailies)
I love the vaporfly 3, but it’s like 70$ more give or take. If your just using it for speed work and your looking it save a little money the speed will do the job.
I’m a bit confused by this review. Only 1 of the items is for running, and it’s marketed as a trail running tight at that. Why not buy a couple actual Rabbit running items yourself and review them? 🤷🏼♂️
The half tights and high country shirt are marketed as running shirts. I have worn both on a ton of miles on trails, gravel and roads. The half tights in my opinion not only trail runners will like, but also road do to the pockets. The shorts are something provided to me and a lot of people had questions on them. I have worn a ton of Rabbit gear, always happy to answer any questions.
Nice!!💪🔥
🙌🏻🙌🏻 thanks
Is zoom fly5 comparable to this shoes?
Haven’t tried the zoom fly 5. But probably not based of on having a plate and this feeling more like a daily trainer
@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody thx appreciate it!
In not a rubber but it did wonder how big a difference the baby tries i of foams makes. Are people simply neering out? It's not the show that's going to win the race
