Do you have a photo about how the forward brackets attach back to the glass? They fell off when I removed the brackets and now the sunroof won’t lower into the sealed position. I’m sure I must have put those forward arms on slightly wrong, but I can’t find anything to show me how they go back on.
Do I want to run the sunroof all the way forward after the glass is off so that all of the cable is exposed to put the new piece on. Meaning take the glass off then push the button that would bring the sunroof all the way closed so that all the cable is out.?
Having just completed this repair, it is a bit more complicated than this lets on. The new bracket must be fed into the back of the rail, the long groove needs to be around the pin on the front glass bracket. There is also a plastic “bearing” that rests on a pin with a washer. That goes into the upper outside track in the rails. There is a tab on the cable that is shown in the video that goes into the bottom of the new bracket. Then the back end of that whole assembly gets fed towards the back of car to line up with the two copper lines (with the cables inside). Then the rail bolts can be put back in. It’s tricky to do but after some trial and error can be done, all without removing the glass.
@@MrRahn1999 Yes. No need to remove the glass.. Good luck with your project. My headliner didn’t line up perfectly so I’ll be taking it down and realigning.
The old piece that breaks has the plastic greased up feet that slide in the rail. What did you do with the install of this new piece regarding those greased up pieces?
Thanks so much for this Steve! Thinking about embarking on this repair this weekend. Two questions if you don't mind me asking: 1) It's hard to see in the video, but it looks like you didn't take off the trim on the B pillars (with the seatbelts/airbags) to get the headliner down. Is that possible / any problems you had because of that? Would love to avoid taking those apart if possible. 2) I think you mentioned this but still some questions from other commenters below - getting the glass attached to the new guides, how exactly do you do that? Should the pin on the bracket just drop into the slot on the guide?
Thanks for this video! Dealership wouldn't even do the fix and said it would cost around $3000 if I took is someplace else. Luckily I jumped in the internet and found this! Didn't even try other shops. $140 and a few hours later and BAM! Properly working sunroof! So grateful.
I heard that dreaded CRACK one day about a year ago. I saw the track shoe on the right side snapped in the exact same place!!! DANG IT!!!! Got the window closed- but I want my vista roof back again!!! I can fix airplanes but good LORD I'm to nervous to attempt this on my own. I need to find someone trusted local to help me out...
When you go to re install the glass...put the 2 rear torque screws in first...that will help hold the glass in place and then you can either manually slide the glass and rear brackets to the front bracket or use the motor the move the front brackets back
@@adanuriarte3470 you really should get both and upgrade the plastic stock with the aluminum one, you are going to take the whole thing apart to install anyway
The panel that goes across the top of the windshield plastic has cracked and is a mess, the one that is under the antenna mount, does anyone have a video on how to replace that part? I have the 2013 Ford Edge and have had the same part that you had break last night on me so I will be buying a set of them on the website you talked about, but as of today they are out of stock. :( sunroofdoctor.3dcartstores.com/2007-2014-Ford-EdgeLincoln-MKX-Sunroof-Guide-Repair-Kit-TEMPORARILY-OUT-OF-STOCK_p_112.html
IT WORKS!!!! Also the front bracket that connects to the glass make sure to connect that at the same time you push the new brackets on otherwise you will have to pry them on as I had to
Is that an upgraded part? What’s the part number? Mine brooke
Anyone have an issue where it’s just not catching to open?

Can you buy that clamp by itself or do you need to purchase the whole repair kit?

There isn't a link to the part, can you post it here in the reply? Thanks, just the video I was looking for!
How did you get the glass out of the way before you started removing the rails?

Hey Steve great illustration, Where did you get the part? I need one
I posted a link, hopefully it works, if not if you email them directly , email is in the video, they are great at responding
This took me roughly 4 hrs, watching football at the same time so slightly distracted, I would say allow 3-5 hrs for this repair
Works!!! Agree with Steve below, start from the back and slide part and the bracket that holds your sunroof at same time.
