Hi. A bit of an unrelated question but im hoping you could help. I have an old 1tb external hard drive that i believe has a bad port. I have tried 2 different cables and sometimes works but keeps connecting and disconnecting. The cable has a bit of play in the hard drive port which i think is causing this. I have ordered new 4tb hard drive but i am wondering is there anything i can do to stabilise the connection so i can transfer the files? Sketchy or not. I just want to be able to get the files off it. Thanks.

thank you so much for taking the time and making these videos! your tutorial helped me install docker on omv. it was clear and easy to follow. i only got stuck at the end because i wanted to install syncthing instead of dokuwiki and it requires different paths and i couldnt figure that out. i would love to see a video about rsync and/or syncthing on omv. im trying to sync between a local pc and a local nas but later id also like to try having offsite backups on another nas connected via a vpn. maybe its something you could look into if you ever find the time. thanks again!

It's a nice tool but does not allow the browsing of more than one Shared Folder in OMV. I am setting OMV up as JBOD with 4 HDD for slow storage, 2 for work related, 2 for Media. This is intended as and access and backup system. I also have an SSD, separate from the OS to store files as they come in from various sources around the house. This SSD will then push out it's files to the repective HDDs every hour. I really need to be able to browse more than one disk

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful to understand backup and snaphot. great job. some questions regarding backup in snaphot mode: A snapshot backup only saves a part of the whole hard drive, so if the hard drive where the vm is running is broken, I can't use the snapshot backup because it doesn't have the complete data, right? What happens if I delete the old snapshot backup, will the snapshot backup be consolidated?

***If you are using Matter enabled devices, you need to select "Trust Guest Filters" in the Network Adapter options. So I have messed around with several common VPN systems like Open VPN and the so called zero config approaches like Twingate. Here is my lowdown from the view of an intermediate level network guy (not professional). Open VPN and the other common types are a huge pain to get to work. You better have a very good networking background. Twingate claims to be 'easy' but isn't really from a simple user perspective: You have to generate tokens and deal with docker or Azure etc. Hardly a common task for Joe Average. The ONLY really zero config solution I stumbled upon was Resilio Sync. Had this up and running within 10 minutes. No CLI, no command file editing, no IP addresses to deal with. I am not paid or anything for my story. Sure, as with any solution using a 3rd party there are things to consider.

I used another guide, in my language, but is very similar to this, and i install Win11 on Rpi5 on ssd nvme, the only thing not work internet. I used a usb3->gigabit ethernet adapter and i have also internet on rpi5 with W11.
