My opinion depends on what exactly happened "if real", if they cheated then that was wrong. If they just wanted to explore their sexualities and were bringing it up to get permission it seems like a overreaction by the wife, not that she should've said yes or anything but it feels like there's room for a middle reaction here to resolve things without escalating it. Like plenty of marriages out there survive being poly/open and it isn't cheating if the spouse consents, just get the consent first and if not given then its cheating. The "Are you sure you're not bi?" feels a bit off to me, I feel like there are straight guys who are curious but like don't identify that way and I think that's valid. But the whole thing of "It isn't cheating because it doesn't count" is definitely wrong, get the enthusiastic consent from your spouse first for any experimenting, maybe she even would like to watch? Who knows!
