Exploring Toohey Forest MTB trails for the first time-lots of fun options, though not my top pick given the location and other quality trails nearby. Still, there's something exciting about trying new rides!

Active Track, a feature in autonomous systems, can be affected when encountering total darkness or entering a tunnel. Its performance depends on the system's capabilities. If it relies heavily on visual cues, it may struggle in darkness. Systems with additional sensors may fare better, but navigating in total darkness remains challenging. To ensure safety, fail-safe measures are typically emplo...

So, having watched this, and finding out how much those bits of kit are (yeah, I know you have a discount code), I decided to instead use the M3 stickers I already had from my GoPro bundle, and buy an aluminium handle bar mount that has the GoPro fittings and do it that way. But, without your video, I would never have thought about stickers on the controller, it makes perfect sense. If I was prepared to use them on my vehicle to attach a camera, why not on the controller? Anyway, keep up the good work, appreciate you!
Thanks for watching mate
Forgot I'd already subscribed to you and was looking for a decent mount. Great job, great review, and great views!
Great review. Ordered the 1st, but have the 3rd in the check out. So, gonna send the 1st back for a refund to go towards 3.
Take a look at the Quad Lock video as well it works a lot better. 👍
You didn’t take the right turn. I just came. Back from the 15+ km bike trail. No roads to drive
That was my first time up there so was just following my nose. 😂
Lot of memories, i grew up in Burringbar. Cheers.
If you ride full-speed on a treeless trail, can the drone keep up closely?
I believe it will keep up to speeds of like 40KMPH . The active track does have a minimum distance it will stay away from the target.
I rode this trail this morning and loved every minute of it, some really beautiful scenery to admire and some great history to be inspired by. Great video.
Thanks for watching Sam and happy you enjoyed the ride!
I used to take the Gold Coast Motor rail from Sydney to Murwllenbah 50 years ago. When was the station closed?
I believe 2004. Well worth a ride.
Great footage, thanks for sharing.
Pretty awesome, you might have already answered, I haven’t read all the comments, did you have sideways flight disabled?
No I didn’t. Don’t take this as fact, but as per the manual I believe it does not make a difference what you manually set. When it’s in active track it goes into its own settings.

had me worried when I skipped the video along and you found you were bouncing over those sleepers but then you said that was beforehand. Thankful they have upgraded the full trail as I may be going down next week.........Thanks for the video....🙂
Thanks for watching Peter. Yes they have done an amazing job on the trail and can’t wait for the connection trails to open. 👍
Hello Diesel, Do you know who runs the bike shop at the Murwillumbah Station ??. Why I ask is because hopefully they RENT bikes there.... My wife and I would love to do the NRRT sometime. Thanks. Max.
maps.app.goo.gl/9MCBTKRB5Cqx7rULA?g_st=ic Murwillumbah Cycles have the shop there. I believe they do bike hire but give them a call. Thanks for watching too.
Far more secure, however it can break off if you take a dive. I dropped my Postie bike, and it broke off, now super glued on and placed in the middle of the hand bar. Where is this?
Location you mean? Gold Coast Australia. I have been over some rough, terrain with this and is still working well. But I would like to try Quad locks other handle bar mount that lifts it up a little more from the bar.
Shame on me, I'm in Brisbane and didn't notice it. Hardly ever go to the GC. My 2 1/2 year old grandson is a monster on a dirt track.
@@3goldfinger oh nice one mate. Get down to the GC and enjoy it. The Spit is amazing on sunset. Again thanks for watching mate.
Anything with screws in it will fail sooner or later. I have Quad lock on mine.
Yes check out a later video I did also on Quad Lock, that’s what I use now also. A lot better option. If you get a chance to watch it let me know if you secured the connector to your controller the same way? Thanks for watching 👍
Wow. Thanks for this . I live in Japan now and i used to live on Coolamon scenic drive . I loved going to Bruns to go to the fish co op. Your post has made my day
Thank you for watching mate. Love Japan too!
Thanks Diesel for your excellent effort in sharing your experience on the Murwillumbah Rail Trail👍We have just ridden it ourselves prior to watching your video and you certainty have captured its beauty. Great promotional video. Many, many thanks. 😍
Thank you for watching and happy you enjoyed the ride! 👍
They are not hippy camps! They are homeless camps. Have some respect.
They were actually Swedish backpackers to be exact.
@@dieselwilliams that’s alright then.
Hello thats awesome, I would like to know where do you place the controller? In your back pack or do you have it mounted on your chest. I seen on some sights that people buy certain backpacks to mount the controller on their chest. Thanks ...
For that video I did have a lanyard around my neck. But now I use Quad Lock mounts on the handle bars. I have 2 videos on mounts above check out the one referring to Quad Lock which is the best option. Thanks for watching 👍
Looks great. I was just considering a day ride with my daughter too. Good reconnaissance!
Yes great day out mate. 👍
Very well done, thank you
Thanks for watching mate 👍
Great information and beautiful scenery. Just curious. Do you know how far / long the Mini 3 Pro will track you if you have the controller with you? I know that if you are in active track mode tracking an object while the controller does not move the drone will only go as far as its maximum signal distance from the controller. Then it will loose the signal and return home.
Promo sm
Great vid. Will definitely get a group together to this. Love the Northern Rivers area
Well worth the ride! Thanks for watching 👍
Did this yesterday and it was outstanding @@dieselwilliams
@@Laphroaig16 happy you had a good time.
Nice video
Thanks mate
I think it got spooked mate😂
Oh it sure did, that’s a long tunnel that one.
I recently bought that first one on Amazon. I ended up returning it. While the construction is decent, it just wobbles around wayy too much for comfort. I worry like you said it's going to crack the controller. DJI Needs to make a beacon or something similar to the Skydio 2's beacon.
Check out my other video on Quad Lock mounts. That is what I use now and it’s a lot better. But yes DJI need to make something designed correctly for it. Thanks for watching.
Can u try with air 3?!
Oh if I had one I definitely would!
Very good demo of how good the active track is on the mini 3 pro through all those trees
Thanks for watching 👍
It can't keep within a given distance to it subject like the Hover x1
Thanks for the view 👍 No your right it does not. But I do not mind it I like the change in distance it makes it more interesting. I do love the size of the Hover to take on rides but the battery life is a little less and it does not have 4K I believe. But would love to try one.
Awesome vid, take it this was set to “bypass” ? 👍🏽
Thanks for watching 👍 As to what I believe after checking out the book on Active Track is that when your in Active Track it will automatically set to Bypass so it does not matter what you have it on. Bypass and Brake are only for manual flying.
Thanks for the video. Can you tell me how long it generally takes to the the trip you did? Is it feasible to do a day trip from Brisbane and return in the afternoon?
Thanks for watching. Depending on your fitness or how much you want to stop. Straight ride with maybe a quick coffee stop would be around 3 hours return. So just add onto that how many stops you want to make. It’s worth giving yourself around 5hrs so you can stop and look at things. 👍
@@dieselwilliams thanks very much
Would it still avoid trees if you were going faster than 3mph?
It sure does on the open trails you get over there up to around 27mph. This is an example of trails that your bike only just fits through the trees. If you try doing it even at that speed in manual flight you would crash. Or have a go and send me a link I would love to see it mate.
That’s sick as.
Haha yes looks cool
That follow cam could of been great 🤙🏼
I know was getting to excited 😂
great video mate! loved the drone shots! i need to get mine out more often
Thanks mate. Yes definitely makes a difference to your videos.
Excellent testing Diesel. Loved and subbed from Canada. I have some tracking on mine if you are interested.
Thanks for watching mate. I will take a look when I get some free time 👍
Great footage you do a awesome job
Thanks mate! Cheers for taking the time to watch 👍
I'm glad you went back to show the before and after and I also went back to finish my ride from Crabbes Creek back to Murwillumbah the first time I only got half way because of a puncher love the drone footage as well good one mate👍🚴
Thanks for watching mate 👍
Nice one mate 👍
Thanks mate
Great vid mark. It’s a sick bit of kit! Hard to beat that scenery 👌🏼
Thanks mate. Yes amazing view up there!
Buena demostración de los diferentes modos de vuelo en un bonito lugar, por ello, mis felicitaciones. Saludos desde Huesca - ESPAÑA-
Thank you for watching👍 Gracias
What did you keep the controller in to stop the buttons getting pressed ? Thanks & great vid 👍🏽
This is ok I keep the controller now. Thanks for the view 👍 ruclips.net/video/6j9M2FTdeCw/видео.html
Thanks got la ink to a rougher trail ? Thanks
Go to my channel and the second last video, Active Track on Black trail. I use the Quad lock the entire way down. Thanks for the view!
@@dieselwilliams second to second to last video in your video list is go pro stickers ?
@@MrGirodog meaning the second latest. ruclips.net/video/j1r6s84zTAE/видео.html
But... you were travelling at walking pace. Did you try a run at proper speed ?
Check out the other active track video I did on a black trail. Was more confident in it. Obviously it’s more about the change in technology. Also you can see how I have added active track to my latest MTB videos so it’s more to get difference shots.
Was that a lizard that ran across the track?
Yes we get a lot of them. And snakes but if your going fast enough you just jump them 😁
@@dieselwilliams Different if you're just walking! :) Years ago I was working out in the Broken Hill area for a geophysicist, trundling day after day through the outback conditions doing a survey. At one point we lost one of the connections and I ran through all the saltbush to find it, and as I did so I came on a King Brown right next to the path I was taking. I was running so fast I couldn't stop, and as it reared up and hooded I took a huge sidestep a rugby player would have been proud of - the snake lunged for me and just missed! I nearly died from the heart attack anyway! :) I would have been cactus if it had struck, as we were over an hour away from Broken Hill, kilometers away from the main road. I love bushwalking, but keeping an eye out for snakes always gives it an edge.
@@timwilde4200 that’s wild.
@@dieselwilliams Yeah, that was when I first found out we had snakes that could flatten their heads like that - I thought only cobras did it.
Diesel! That track looks sick. You got a great mixture of arial shots & action cam shots. Lots of editing. Great episode.
Yes nowhere near your skills mate but working on it. You could be interested to see my active track videos and what the drone has been able to do on the MTB trails. Thanks for the view👍
Brilliant vid diesel. Drone shots were boss! Keen as to check it out👌🏼scenery looks bloody spectacular.
Sounds good let me know! 😉
More of a walking test than a biking test tbh. Speed is way too slow for this to represent be a real mountain biking shot scenario. Good work nonetheless, definitely ab improvement over previous generations.
I know but it’s great for B role with short shots. Obviously the more open the trail is the faster it will go. Check out my last video I try it again but do go a little faster. Getting a little more confident in what it can do.
Without a doubt, this is the most impressive feature of the Mini 3 Pro. The obstacle avoidance is better than it has a right to be. We wanted pro features in the Mini model and its finally here.
Definitely. Just give me side sensors in the next one 😉 Thanks for the view 👍
I have used the active tracking feature on my mini 3 pro several times I have videos on my channel. But it has been absolutely flawless. I noticed the only time that it lost visual of you was when it was behind the tree as you made a sharp left turn. But the area that you were in was a very difficult test and I would have to give it an A plus for that it did absolutely amazing in those tight spaces. I couldn’t have flown it manually through that environment and I have been flying for a long time lol but it did really well great video I will subscribe to your channel.
Thanks Andy. Yes I wanted to push it a little and see how well it goes. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that criticize the speed that it goes but what can they really expect and I guess do not understand the technology advances it has already made.
